    I moved from KZN to The Drakenstein area 24 years ago and live very close to this place. I have never in my 24 years here experienced rain like this. It has nothing to do with the farmers, they provide jobs here, both on the farms and wineries. It is an act of mother nature and no one can be blamed for it. Farmers need the dams for irrigation and we have just had too much rain.

    Stop building on areas that are not for residential use nor legal settlements...
    You can't put up structures anywhere even on restricted areas because of flooding then cry later ...
    This is the problem when they don't use proper channels then play victim...
    The farmers never asked for land to be occupied that is unsafe to begin with ...
    The government must find proper safe ground and you must inquire with them before just doing your own thing .

  • @expandyourworld7500

    LOL🤣😂 For the guy that blamed the farmer:
    *The farmers didn't create the topogrophy and the landscape of the area. They only utilise the area to farm upon.
    * The land was created miliions and millions of years ago. Go look at geology of how continents were made.
    * Climate change is occuring which is affecting the Western Cape.
    * Resources were probably not spent to improve the infrastructure or implement new civil infrastructure.
    * Channeling the water to safer places needs to be done by the engineers from the municipality, so why haven't you held them accountable?

  • @reinemarais4392
    @reinemarais4392 Před měsícem +3

    In terms of the storm drains.... were the drains there before or after the houses were built? If people chose to build near the drains, they chose to do so. Perhaps they should move their houses elsewhere? Next point. Sea levels are rising. This means that the water table, or the level of water below land is rising too. This is a slow process that is already underway. This is something for which countries around the world are having to plan.

    When will people learn to play their part and stop littering. Always rubbish dumps in residential areas which stops drains and stormwater channels. Stop behaving like animals and keep your areas clean and decent and co-operate with local outhaurities not expecting them to do what we are supposed to do time to grow up people. Report faults such as streetlights not working blocked drains, potholes etc. If you don't have the contact details of your ward councilor and report to him/her it shows you are an idiot and don't care for they do not see what you see but are responsible for the smooth running of their wards but you should be their ears and eyes. We can make our communities work start in your own home, street and stop piling up rubbish outside your dwelling places.
