- How to make a soft and fluffy Raisin Bread.
Here are the ingredients:
1 cup milk (250ml) (room temp)
1 egg
2¼ tsp instant yeast (7g)
¼ cup sugar (50g)
3 ¼ cups all purpose flour (406g)
1 tsp salt (5g)
1/4 cup softened butter (50g)
1 cup raisin for the dough and 1/2 cup more for the filling
Eggwash: 1 egg yolk + 1 tablespoon milk
SPANISH:

I bake this recipe yesterday and I’m in shock for the results, it’s absolutely a winner, I did not used raisins this time, I wanted plain to spread anything on it, the dough is incredible soft, thank you so much for sharing it. 🙏🏻
I am considered by my friends and family the best cook they know and as such I create my own recipes, which in fact as most recipes are, adaptations of other recipes, but this is by far and above the best fruit loaf I have ever made. I did not plait it but simply made a loaf, still flattening and rolling it. I am not a bread person but my husband is and I actually had 2 slices ( could not resist ) but I’m sure my husband will eat half of the loaf for his supper, and I cannot wait to see how it toasts. I've been looking for a recipe like this for years. When i was a kid my mum would buy a braided loaf filled with raisins and covered with an icing glaze as treat for us on the last Friday of the month. At the time she worked in a curtain shop and this was from the bakery a few stores down.
It was when times were a bit tough but so simple... she's coming to visit me next week and I'm going to use this recipe to recreate that loaf for her. I know she's gonna love It! Thanks for the trip down memory lane 🤗

Raisin bread wow looks delicious
The dough totally refused to become elastic after kneading for some time, so I plopped it into an oiled bowl for the rise anyway. It rose nicely and was strong and elastic. Turned out to be a very workable dough after the rise. Update: love this recipe! Turned out beautifully. The dough is so soft, and what I like best of all is that it is not sweet! Would be perfect with a cup of tea!! Definitely a keeper!!! Thanks!!

I just finished baking this and the entire place smells delicious! It's cooling off now. I may have added a little too much flour - my dough was never as elastic as yours and mine looks a little dry, but it's been a while since I baked with yeast, so I will troubleshoot and try again. I made this lastnight and it was amazing. The only difference was the baking temperature. I bake mine at 315 degrees F. for 40 mins. It was light and fluffy. Instructions are on point! Simply amazing!

This recipes is out of Dubai. I live in the US Virgin Islands. Baking temps varies. I baked mine at 315 for about 40 mins.

thank you so very much for this wonderful recipe. I finally found the courage and inspiration to try hand kneading...And it was successful!!! The dough stuck to my rolling mat so much that I transferred it to my cutting board and it was better, although I did have to add almost another 1/4 cup flour. Finally after kneading for 25 minutes, the dough became smooth and elastic and passed the window pane test. I did have to bake mine for about 45 min@350 F. 1 cup milk room temp
1 egg
2 1/2 tsp yeast
1/4 cup sugar
Stir together
Add flour 3 1/2 cups then salt 1 tsp to form dough
Cover for 10 to 20 mins
Add butter and fold it in
Lightly flour counter and knead
Form into ball and place in oiled bowl and cover for 1 hour
Punch out gas and then add in 1 cup of raisins
Cut into 3 strips and add more raisins
Braid 3 lengths and fold in at ends
Cover for 30 to 40 mins
Brush 1 egg yolk and tsp of milk on top
Put on parchment paper in bread pan at 365 for 30 to 40 mins
Should I bake it with bottom heat on? No upper heat needed?

tip: when rising the dough, if u live in a place where the temperature is relatively low, put it near the floor vent (heating is there) and it’ll rise quickly. or, you can just put the bowl/baking pan in a bowl of warm water (not too hot bc the yeast will die)
I put it in the oven with the light on - dough rises like dream every time.

well as there are enough raisins in the first application, I would be putting a cinnamon/sugar combination in each of the braids, with a few raisins..then braiding, thereby getting the cinnamon kick right in it.

I used this recipe and it was delicious! The dough was so soft! The only thing I would say is that I baked my bread the same temperature as you but it only took 10 to 15 minutes to bake. Maybe each oven is different but it definitely wasn’t 30-35 minutes. Other wise, it was really yummy! Thank You!
