@@Adetep.o When a team gets a penalty they have a few options they can do . Teams can kick to touch on the full and get a line out where it goes out. They can also take it quickly with a tap kick where the player can run the ball but they have to tap it with their foot first to start play. Thats what Aaron Smith is doing.

Aaron is my favourite he always plays like its his last game ever,and wears his allblack heart on his sleeve genuinely,never gives up and is always prepared to put his body on the line, he'll play a big part with us trying to win against Argentina and hopefully on to beat the Boks!!

Like how McCaw played in an above average Crusaders side yet was the bets 7 in the whole comp. Or how at the moment Sexton is the best 10 in the world, or at least the most consistent but hasn't been in a wc winning team. However both Sexton and Dupont have been in Six Nations grand slam teams.

But even If his team lose he was by far the greatest player ever. His consistency. And that's Dupont. Incredibly consistent, best box kick in the world, incredible game management. Very wide skillset. Probably the most consistently wide out of the world's best halfbacks right now.

the pass.... its the most important part of a scrumhalf game. his technique is second to none. sweeps it. minimal back lift, doesn't pass too hard, soft spiral but lightening fast. sometimes he lobs it for forward receiver close to him. rarely breaks but when he does, he scores. deadly. there have been many game breakers at number 9 but its his service that makes him special. Perhaps Du Pont will / is the goat of this position but Smith was amazing

Maybe in the last 3 minutes people are tired and ABs think more than likely a high kick could create ball handling errors, I don't think they realized Ireland would go 37 phases without 1 mistake. Stats show errors are more likely in the dying stages, maybe if ABs had held onto it they mightve given away a penalty? Who knows. I felt the same way when he kicked away that possessions.

@DJ-ce3hq Dupont has the edge because of his athleticism, but A Aron has more experience. Dupont has more range in job, and that's because France have built their team around him.
@@DJ-ce3hq I think the measuring stick will be the quality, consistency and length of the contribution to respective teams legacy. Dupont is amazing but still has a way to go ... just an opinion here.

*No question Aaron Smith is the best in the business from the inside half. BUT, has he lost his touch when he opted to kick away possession on the 77th minute against Ireland that placed the whole team on a defensive posture and risks of costing the game - which fortunately had not....?????*
It was to relieve the pressure. After 10 phases of play the attacking team tend to commit mistake 3 times more than the defending team. If you see again play by play, in the 37 phases of Irish attack, They were very tired at the end and pressure is on them now to score points.
But If NZ didn't kick into the Irish half and in the next ruck, they concede a penalty then the Irish are much likely to score. It was a tactic used in the end of the games because multiphase rugby is very hard to pull of when the players are tired and it affects decision making.
But I think he should have trusted his forwards and kept the ball and saved us from having a heart attack at the end.
@@sptc7616 I see the logic of that strategy, but it is one that is even more riskier against formidable teams like that of the boks!
We were ahead on the scoreboard if we maintained possession the Irish would've had triple the pressure on them to defend get the ball back and score a try all we had to do is wind the clock down & be conservative we could even setup for a drop goal. Even if it misses it killed more time and we get the ball back anyway rinse and repeat.
@@nicktorea4017 I'm not totally taken with the relieving the pressure strategy here by giving away the possession at such a crucial time in the game. The grounds covered by the opposition after gifting away the possession was nailbiting, to say the least!!! I would rather a Dan Carter positional line kicking five meters from the tryline would have done the trick!!!
