      Thank you so much, Michael. We had a lot of fun producing it & trying to accurately showcase this wonderful place to help viewers!

    My favorite place. My mom was cremated and we actually had a ceremony and dumped her ashes on the walkway y’all were standing on in front of the light house. this was her favorite place. And my uncle has a bench placed in his name right next to the pier. My family has been there for decades. This island is amazing and peaceful and such a hidden gem ❤️❤️❤️.

      Oh wow! 💙 I’ve noticed the benches before with names on them. What’s your uncle’s name & I’ll look for it next time! It is a very special island

      Thank you so much for the encouragement. We tried hard to help others get the most out of their stay at this sweet little beach town. Love our GA spots!

      @@SouthernTravelGuru just a couple of weeks ago we visited the WW2 museum for the first time and our kids loved it. We visited Fort Frederica, went on a ghost tour. We also went on a dolphin tour just off St Simons on Sea Island. A trip to the sea turtle center on Jekyll is also a must do. In years past we’ve stayed at the king and prince but changed it up to the beach club this year and it was fantastic. Needless to say.. if I win the lottery, you’ll find me at St Simons 😂

      @@smokeycoonhoundut6081 wow- y’all know how to have a good time on the islands. Very proud of the WWII Museum - sounds like you may enjoy the history. Many spots like FF are beautiful with lots of intriguing stories of old. Have you made it to the site of Bloody Marsh or Christ Church yet?

      @@SouthernTravelGuru we did visit the Bloody Marsh but have not been to Christ Church yet. We will definitely check it out next year. I’m a history buff for sure but each trip just ends too soon to see everything! Can’t wait to go back

      We didn’t find out about the tree spirits until the last day but we look forward to hunting them down next year

    I love Saint Simons Island, we use to go the several times a year but with my new job, I can't just take off when I want. We like to stay at either Epworth By The Sea or Saint Simons Inn By The Lighthouse. Favorite places to eat, Brogans, Mullet Bay, Iguanas has some good fried grits, Half Shell, Frosty's has pretty good dogs and of course Waffle House is on the list every time we go. Of course there are many other good restaurants we have ate at. Love the live oaks and Spanish moss. We go to the mainland once or twice to shop. Thanks for sharing.

    I first went to SSI back in 1999 to work for a few days. Back then you had to pay a toll of $.25 cents to get onto the island. After all these years, it is still my favorite vacation spot.

    • @SouthernTravelGuru
      @SouthernTravelGuru  Před 2 lety +1

      A whole .25 cents? 🥰 I didn’t know SSI ever charged a toll! So interesting. Sure it wasn’t Jekyll back then? I’m sure it was even better back in the day on SSI!

    • @bgm1236
      @bgm1236 Před 2 lety +1

      @@SouthernTravelGuru No, it was SSI and it was only during the day. At night the toll gate was raised. I'm not sure when they removed it for good. I didn't go back for a couple of years after that and it was gone. Amelia Island, Florida is also a great place to vacation.

    • @SouthernTravelGuru

      Thanks for commenting. Not sure about the flamingos. The hubs has on a blue shirt but it has a boat on the back. Could that be it? I can send you a link to the brand website - it's a southern outdoor company. Let me know if that helps!
