I saw your grandfather perform at the Barn on 79th St. in Miami Beach in the 60's and I was totally addicted to his performances always brought down the house. I was in my 20's then. I will never forget him he was so talented and what a showman. I am so sorry for your loss, RIP dear Wayne.
Hi, I'm Chris Cochran, Just to let you know I used this video in my dad's service, Thanks for all your time in putting it together.. God Bless,, Chris Cochran
Thank you for your kind words, Chris. I feel honored to hear it was a part of the service. I am sorry for your loss, your dad was truly talented and so admired, and his legend will continue to grow.
Chris. Your Dad was a fantastic performer and a much much better singer than he gave himself credit for. Not to mention his moves. A great dancer too. He is a recent discovery for me, and I don't understand why I had never heard of him sooner.
Two times my family were riveted to the TV back in the 60's: when Wayne Cochran performed on "The Jackie Gleason Show" and when The Beatles showed up on "The Ed Sullivan show". Notice who I put FIRST.
Saw The Blessed Beautiful Brother 1st time at the Regal Theater in South Side of Chicago..The Dear Brother wasn't even booked on an All Star Roster that included such as The mighty Dells(Friends of mine)FourTops,Flip Wilson, Tyrone Davis,Jackie Wilson etc...Wayne was brought on as "Surprise!! quest(Shock!!Guest) Truly Stole the show with his Titanic performance,, But!! even more amazing took our Very Hearts with his " Delivery" and left US All! gasping in disbelief and absolute AWE!! with an experience in Entertainment that to this day that has gone "Unmatched".. Jackie Wilson was and is ,to this day my absolute favorite entertainer(Bruno Mars,Now)but Wayne remains in a class and an experience All by Himself..Love you Brother Wayne to Heaven and All the Way back to Miami.. Joy on Joy
I also saw Wayne at The Regal, and I'll never forget it. How I loved The Regal, down at 47th and South Park (changed with sadness and grace to M.L.K. later.) I'll never forget seeing Roy Head and Ronnie Milsap tear up The Regal also!! Best musical education of my life during the 60's was going often to The Regal. God bless The South Side.
The Blues Brothers sent me here ! Great to discover both them and Mr Cochran on the same day ! Those blues guys really were on a mission from God, it appears...
very underated superstar. Soul Brother #2!!! He'd be gonged in the first round of these "voice" shows by people who couldn't even carry his, his, his cape!!!!
This is what a GIFT from God is. I think Elvis had it, Johnny Cash too. God used their voices to minister to other broken souls. This ray of light just pouring from them lighting your soul on fire is NOT a coincidence. What a blessing!!
I opened for Wayne C and his band a few times at the Newport Seven Seas in North Miami Beach FL His band was so good and I was so intimidated LOL (also I was 19 at the time) . Talked with him some backstage and he was a great person ! I will never forget him !
Saw Wayne back in the summer of 1972 at the Fort Polk , Louisiana Army base. Was blown away and still amazed. Went out and bought his album with the CC Riders and still have it today.
Hello this is Wayne Granddaughter Kristin. I wanted to Thank you so much for posting this. He would have been so thrilled and you did A Excellent Job putting this video together. Thank You again !
Kristin.......saw Wayne a couple of times at The Barn in Miami......in Miami Beach a small plane pulled a banner advertising Wayne over the beach area. During his performance the waiter came to our table telling us to hold on to our drinks...we didn’t know why....then half of the C C Riders came to the audience and a guy with cape and saxophone stood on our table....wild stuff. A few years later I saw him in Montreal Canada.....he gave me a signed copy of his LP...which I still have....over 50 years. Wayne really put on a show....RIP.
Wayne Cochran...what a showman! I loved seeing him perform at the Roaring 20s in Charleston, West Virginia, and the Hyatt Hotel in Atlanta! This video was a great tribute!
What a fantastic video tribute/creation. I lived my life swearing by J. Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers. I’m from East Texas & Wilson lived & died in Lufkin. So it really ate at me when I heard Eddie Vedder doing this cover of Last Kiss. I forgot - & this was just the greatest example of how covers are truly tributes that bring music to different audiences & new generations even if you never know it’s a cover. Some years ago I was researching the Last Kiss debate & low & behold - it was written & performed by a West Texas act, Wayne Cochran. Most impressive of all to me is that the story is Wayne Cochran’s. He had the real life story of a car accident which inspired him. For whatever reason, though, Cochran’s original didn’t get enough attention. It’s what made J. Frank Wilson famous as he was a one-hit wonder that actually died destitute & of alcoholism. It’s been awhile so I wanted to revisit Wayne Cochran, really because i wanted to see the Pompadour. It’s much bigger than I recalled. What a showman. I happened across this fantastic video. It’s truly amazing work about an amazing talent. I’m so sorry for those that spoke here of your loss. I’m glad you found this video. Thank you all so much for sharing. ❤️
Wayne was on the Tomorrow Show (Tom Snyder) with Little Richard in 1981. They talked, and sang "One Day at a Time" together. Sure wish I could find this performance on You Tube. A couple of clips from that show, and Late Night with David Letterman, are on You Tube, but not Wayne and Richard together.
I Loved Wayne Cochran As I Was Growing Up!! I use to see him on some of the late 60’s Early 70’s Show!! He was The First “Blue Eyed Soul Brothers” And I Loved It!! I just read of his passing!! I Loved What He Did During His Hey Day!! Rest In Peace Wayne!!
So sad to hear. Someone really needs to make a full length documentary about Wayne Cochran. There is such a massive soul revival scene today people need to know this man. I dj myself and the big one I save for the floor filler killer song is going back to Miami. Much love and respect to this man. And my condolences to his family
The bigger the Heart the easier they fall the Bigger the hands the more the person can Hold so dont judge a persons smarts by Gender or appearance alone cause even a blind man can be deceived in the House of God...
It's so often the case that these characters ruin their own lives and the lives of those around them, and then start a business telling the rest of us just how we ought to live. The old "I hit rock bottom" act is supposed to convince us that we should pay attention when they come up with a plan for our lives. And so many seem to fall for it.
I am Wayne Cochran’s oldest grandson. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this video.
thank you Jason, I'm sorry for your loss. Your grandfather's legacy will live on
I'm so sorry for your loss Jason. He seemed like a wonderful person.

That boy could dance

Beautifully said ! I miss him a lot !
Saw him a couple of times at Bill Hull's Castaways Club in Chattanooga. Also Little Richard and Ike and Tina. None of them could top Wayne!
Miss you Pastor Wayne Cochran. You made serving God the father in heaven easy. Thank you for this video.
The Blues Brothers sent me here ! Great to discover both them and Mr Cochran on the same day ! Those blues guys really were on a mission from God, it appears...
For a Man who thought that He didn't have a Good Voice, He sure had a GREAT Voice. What a Humble Man. He was AMAZING!!!
God Bless You Mr. Wayne Cochran. Rest in Peace.❤️✝️⭐

Or self glorification?
I remember Wayne not wanting to wear a helmet when he was riding his motorcycle. So glad he turned his life over to God.
@philparrott4424 Of course, we don't know how God feels about taking on the added burden.
Brother Kenneth Copeland brought me here, I have heard brother Copeland mention fondly Wayne Cocoran many times through the years R.I.P. Wayne
You better stay away from Copeland, aka Satan. That man is pure evil.
That man had some pipes....brother could sing...
This man had IT, and I don't even know what IT was, but he had it!
I opened for Wayne C and his band a few times at the Newport Seven Seas in North Miami Beach FL His band was so good and I was so intimidated LOL (also I was 19 at the time) . Talked with him some backstage and he was a great person ! I will never forget him !
Dang…his hair just kept on getting better with age.
Wayne is so underated

What a great story, what a great life!
Nice tribute to a one of a kind guy.
I never get tired of watching this clip !!!!
This is a really nice video. Wayne Cochran was a great performer. Excellent ♥️ and One of a kind.
Wayne had the groove deep in his persona. He and the CC Riders hit the stage hard.

That Jackie Gleason episode with Wayne Cochran (The White James Brown) when he sung the song "Get Down With It" aired October 22,1966.
I listen to Slayer and this is right up there with them.
God bless them Blues.
Fun fact: on April 5, 2063 this guy's great great grandson invents warp drive.

Wow, I 'd never heard of him! What a character!
Best voice...best hairstyle..amazing vibes. We need a documentary/autobiography on netflix about him. Who is the main actor?
