  • The third edition of Polaris Camp Morocco was a new success and offered the 90 participants accompanied by their passengers an extraordinary experience in the wide open spaces of southern Morocco.
After two years in the north of Morocco, the new 1800 km route allowed the discovery of new regions in the south of the country and those of the Atlas massif.
The very wide variety of scenery, landscapes and tracks will have completely won over all participants. The 1800 km were covered in 6 stages, starting from the city of Ouarzazate to then reach Boumalne Dades, then Erfoud, Merzouga, M'Hamid, Tazoult before reaching the finish in Marrakech.
The first discovery was that of the imposing Atlas Mountains during the first two days, including the splendid crossing of Jebel Saghro on tracks taking passes over 2000 meters.
The course then plunged towards Erfoud passing by the mythical and majestic rock of the Mummy, borrowed name from the famous film shot partly on this site and offering a high balcony perched with an incredible 360° panorama.
Unmissable and eagerly awaited, the stage in the cathedral dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga delighted the participants, mostly at the wheel of RZRs, by traveling in both directions, allowing them to truly surf for whole hours in this incredible space.
The caravan then headed south, to reach M'Hamid, following a very isolated track not far from the border with Algeria. The objective was to join the next day a second erg, that of Cheggaga with very extensive dunes and requiring careful navigation to extricate oneself from this labyrinth.
After a second night in bivouac, it remained for the participants to undertake the crossing of the Atlas massif by the very rugged region of Tizi N'Test culminating at more than 2000 meters before a long descent towards Marrakech.
Throughout this route, cirques, high plateaus, dunes, cliffs, oases, canyons, wadis, villages and always welcoming populations have succeeded and dazzled the participants with their astonishing richness.
The distances covered each day, the demands of certain tracks, the high temperatures in the desert put a strain on the men and the machines, but not excessively.
Each evening everyone was able to appreciate the comfort of the hotels like that of the two Berber bivouacs composed of jaimas and bringing a perfect communion with the Moroccan desert.
The organization team of 25 people, including a medical staff, were able to watch over all the participants who were geolocated continuously.
The technical assistance team of Polaris France perfectly watched over and intervened on the machines throughout each day and in the evening at the stage.
This magnificent adventure on Moroccan soil was made possible thanks to the support of the Moroccan authorities and extremely welcoming populations.
The sometimes drawn features but the sparkling eyes and the dusty faces crossed by wide smiles testified every day to the unique experience lived by everyone throughout the incredible raid.
