  • In November 1995, while an overwhelming international outcry mounted against the execution of the Ogoni and MOSOP leader, Ken Saro-Wiwa and his colleagues, defiant military dictator, Sani Abacha, backed by a small group of military officers, convinced themselves that executing them, swiftly, was the best way to resolve the Ogoni unrest “once and for all”, and to make it clear to Nigerians and the international community that the authoritarian regime was no pushover.
In this video we will bring to your view excerpt from the high-level military council meeting in which the decision to execute Ken Saro-Wiwa and his associates was taken on November 8, 1995.

It is difficult to believe Abacha was motivated by a sense of justice. It was simply revenge. I say this because of the denial of reasonable legal representation for the Saro Wiwa and the other accused.

Abacha took him out because he knew how Sero was to his government. Sero who took over an Igbo man’s house in PH during the 96-70 wars did not return the house back to the owner after the war. This can tell you how dangerous a man is if he can take what does not belong to him away from the real owner do to the war in Nigeria

Unfortunately, Gowon and subsequent and leaders have refused to revert to Federalism on the ground that it encourages disunity.

@@Oldman1912 you wished you knew but your insinuation and rhetorical question point to the fact that he did it and you also justified his murder by Abacha elsewhere by stating that he deserved it because he took someone's house. Was he tried by Abacha's kangaroo court because of the house or he was tried for something else? It's amazing that some human beings will be glorifying Abacha's monstrosity in the political his of Nigeria; let's pray and hope that no military government will emerge in Nigeria in the future and employ same lame pretext on you or a family member and get them executed.
