I am 74 years old. I underwent GJ with Vagotomy (both the vagus) in 1970. Afterwards I was relieved of GU related pain (empty stomach), forced vomiting (post food consumption), again pain due to empty stomach. To address the bile problem post surgery, I was supported with antacids for few years. Now, my fear or doubt: am I likely to be or positively prone to carcinoma of stomach? Cause of my fear is a cursory reading of a Medical Scieces Bulletin of large number of such GJ-Vag patients facing carcinoma at ripe age.

@@arupdebbarma4420 from 1970 to 1998 I had no problem of any kind. Initially, for about one year I was asked to take Pepsamar (those days antacid tab) after every meal. But, after some time I tapered the dosage bringing in control in qty food consumption. If I stop at the first sign of belching or hunger satiation, I didn't have any discomfort. This, I put an end to antacids. I stopped all carb beverages. In 1998, unfortunately, I experienced a sudden blockage in smaller intestine exit point connecting larger intestine. This led to complete choking of anal gas release (like our kitchen sink blocking). Outcome of this was whatever I consumed I was forced to vomit (some 30 tines in 3 hrs) when I noticed even green fluid exit with vomit. I rushee to my surgeon that later led to a laparotomy. Procedure revealed some bolus (digested sticky or viscous residue) stuck at the exit of smaller intestine tiny tube connecting larger intestine. Afterwards no issues. I am hale and healthy now. No antacids or laxatives. Normal food of limited spice. GJ with Vagatomy is a sort of permanent solution to relieve pain as well as unwanted drugs of varying potency or venturing with new formulations.

Wonderful class sir...sir one query is that why vagus (parasympathetic nerve) denervation cause diarrhea bcs we know that parasympathetic system denervation cause constipation!!!

If intestinal peristalsis is not controlled by any means, then nothing is going to stay in intestine and if everything goes out then result is diarrhoea..
