  • This isn't like the other handheld gaming PCs or consoles. Nor is it like the flop that was the Steam Machines a few years back. For starters its using a custom AMD SOC with Zen 2 CPU cores, RDNA2 Graphics AND LPDDR5 5500MHz which we haven't seen before! This will be more powerful than last gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One.
    Also, there's the fact that SteamOS is based on Linux! Hopefully we'll see more games working and validated in Linux because of this.

    You're missing a major point on the Steam Deck: it can run windows games!!! They use a compatibility layer call Proton and that supposedly allow windows games to run. Without that option it might as well be dead on arrival.

    For some reason I didn't see this video until today. We could really use a 3080 TI video ;D

    Steam deck is cool but not available in my country. I think I'll just wait for the second revision few years later with bigger SSD and battery.

    3:03 Who in the right mind would expect any sort of RAYTRACING in a handheld console with 15W?
    Common. Even high end huge cards struggle to deal with it and you say "i wouldnt expect raytracing here".... it is just obvious.

    • @OTechnology
      @OTechnology  Před 3 lety

      I said that because its based on RDNA2 which has raytracing cores in the architecture. Obviously there probably won't be which is why i said what I said.

    came to my senses and sold the shitdeck and bought a decent gaming laptop with oled screen, i7 and dedicated nvidia gpu.. apart from the form factor sd has nothing to show for.. I've used for 6 months and after 3... it became just a paper weigh.. the 64 version was the best at price to performances . the software is full of bugs and in need of constant tweaking of the controls as a lot of games didn't work properly on sd even if the hardware could support it. valve is just a shitty software-based company that tries to strike gold in the hardware department .. but it just lost the game in 2023 with asus and lenovo joining the competition with better windows handhelds ..
