Season 1, Episode 5. The investigation of a murder yields a bizarre love conspiracy between the widow and the couple's business manager.
This is the official CZcams channel for Law & Order. Watch all of the official clips from the series, some of the best moments from within the criminal justice system, where the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: The police, who investigate crime, and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders.

"I tried to break up with him so he shot me and killed my husband, that's why I'm clearly still sleeping with him, instead of telling the police that he's the one that did it so an innocent man wouldn't go to prison." - Because that totally makes sense.
Here's another leap of logic: If it was broken off, why were they meeting? Or was it really a coincidence?
Doh, she thinks they don't know she just met him, so not as smart or Greevey suggests.
Pretty much every single criminal who get's caught will make self serving statements to distance themselves from the incident. The cops know this, the DA knows this, the defense knows this, the judge knows this... the only people who don't know is the jury. If you are up for a severe penalty, and they don't offer you a great deal... take it to jury.
That's why I just spent 4 hours screwing with him in the hotel.
@@kadindarklord
They belong to the same bridge club, that just happened to be meeting at that hotel. :-)
“He worships me, he thinks I might be able to raise the dead”. Great stakeout partners 😂
I love Cragan so much in the early L&O. He's supportive of his boys, but he's level-headed enough to be a good, fair captain...and occasionally bust their asses, lol ("Reopen the case?! I love this! I *really* love this!")
He and Max Greevey were a great duo.
SylverMage He’s one hell of an actor. Mad respect.
He knows that it's his ass on the line if it doesn't work out. You don't often get to see what he has to put up with from those higher on the food chain, so he can only risk his career on a hunch and flimsy evidence to a point.
Its weird - you watch these early episodes and then compare them to his time as the captain of SVU, its almost as if he's two different people in terms of personality.
at first he was a real 80's bad tempered ball buster "police sarge" type, but he mellows as the series goes on
I love the way he answers the phone. “What?”
0:39-0:41 The absence of the iconic *dun dun* during the scene transition that time stood out like the proverbial sore thumb to me.
No wonder something felt off to me. It really does stick out like a sore thumb.
*”DUN DUN! Oh I am just a cleaning lady vroom vroom..”* -Micheal Scott
Am I weird that when the scene changes that my mind automatically makes the dun dun sound I’m my head lol
The strange thing is, other transitions in the episode *do* have the dun dun, it's just that one transition that is missing it. They just forgot.
@@williamcurry4868Not at all.
Scary for the horse too LMFAO.
What a absolute savage
Greevey later passes on a pastry LOL
That's not really factually accurate. They're called work horses for a reason. I'm sure a guy like Officer Max tops out at 250lbs and that's being generous. That's hardly going to break a sweat for the horse.
@@TheJFerg24 That's not Cragen. Cragen is the Captain. That's Officer Max Greevy.
@@supercooled lol I did get that wrong, now fixed. Thanks.
logan's micro expressions and movements are what makes his character so incredible. the small eyebrow raises and the eye widening is just *chefs kiss*
How many psychotherapists does it take to change a lightbulb?
Just one. But the lightbulb has to really want to change.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got a million of them . Don't get me started.
@@jdrancho1864 How about just a sampler? Say five or ten of them?
@@CZcamsallowedmynametobestolen How many Cubs fans does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None, they just talk about doing it next year.
How many Jewish mothers does it ....?
Don't go to any trouble for my sake, I'll just sit here in the dark.
How many alcoholics does it ...?'\
Two. One to screw in the light bulb, one to drink until the room starts spinning.
How many East Frisians does it ...?
Five. One to hold the light bulb, four to turn the ladder.
How many Phish fans does it ....?
One, the others just follow it around for a year.
How many Yankees fans does it ...?
None. They just sit in the dark talking about how they used to have some of the brightest bulbs around.
How many stoners does it ...?
One. They're high, not stupid.
@@jdrancho1864 Thanks, jd. Most of these were new to me.
If I may suggest what might be an improvement on one:
"How many alcoholics does it ...?'\
Two. One to screw in the light bulb, one to drink until the room starts spinning."
This kind of misses the point that the light bulb doesn't have to be turned because the room will turn (spin) instead. So the response might be better worded this way:
"Two. One to hold the light bulb in the socket, one to drink until the room starts spinning."
the bit players/character actors in this series were always superb.
Absolutely. The perfect casting, excellent acting and creative choices of bit characters in my opinion made the original L&O one of the best dramas ever.
The fabulous Bob Gunton as Mr Hymes.
1:54 to eat pie, or not to eat pie. That is the question....
😂😁😂😁😂
This is cute....
I love that they left in 1:37. They didn’t break character so there was no reason to cut, but you know it was genuine 😂
Cragen... “ one freaking day” 😂😂
Dzundza/Max Greevey was one of the reasons I ever watched this show...
"How many killers does it take to..."
Greevey:"...aah! Take the bulb, ah!"
"How many killers does it take to screw in a light bulb?"
Uh, two. One to hold the bulb, and the other to turn the---Wait, that's Pollocks.
That's really good quality for 1990.
"We were having an affair, but I broke it off".
Man I bet that made his eyes water!
Cop thinking: "I don't believe this Oscar-winning* performance for a Detroit minute, but you go right on ahead and keep tossing your boyfriend under the bus, there's a good little sociopath..."
* Sorry, Emmy-winning performance.
😜
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Like your screen name.
A guy I went to high school with in the 70s used that expression.
Earlier in the episode they said there'd be a 50 thousand dollar reward for any tip that lead to the arrest and conviction of the murderer
Anyway I hope that money helps Willy get his life together and live happily ever after
@Boogie Woogie More books to sell
I'm surprised they're not having L&O Conventions anywhere, since
L&O is essentially the new Star Trek now.
With all the dead, wouldn't that be a zombie convention... 😉
Ummm no.
I would go to that as the victim.covid and quarantine has taken its toll. I ain't never gonna look like the living again
Not enough geeks
There should also be Sopranos conventions.
Comment sections under Sopranos videos are a mood of their own.
I love how Greevey always had some long personal story that is only vaguely relevant to explain how he reached his opinion on the case.
13. One to hold the bulb in place, twelve to turn the house round and round.
You know...somehow that wouldn't surprise me as much as it should...
@5:45 Max Greeley's expresion of joy is so cute.
I really wish they'd kept the two detectives at 4:32 in the L&O Universe.
John Simpson , yesss!
@John Simpson
Yeah?
Well if you like THEM, you'll REALLY like Lt. Flynn & Provenza in The Closer! The cast and writer started calling their hijinks "The Flynn & Provenza Show"!
Check out "Skybox Tickets" for a real laugh!
Lizzie Allen he was going to do the sopranos series
Lizzie Allen Profaci was bent.
Lizzie Allen Profaci had Mob ties! Watch the L&O movie!
1:59
LOL, that made me laugh like heck out of the blue!
I was an early watcher of Law and Order. It seems such a long time ago... and also just yesterday that this procedural was the one with the plot grabbed from the headlines. First season was amazing. I know Briscoe (jerry Orbach) was great but my sentimental favourite duo is always Greevey and Logan. Plus, I always liked Michael Moriarty as senior ADA better than the others who followed. Same with Richard Brooks.
I love this episode! The victim turns out to be the perp. :)
Ocean Elf really ? I thought it was suspicious that she would be with him if he shot her I mean really?
I love Logan,he and his partner are so funny!
Vitello and partner should have gotten their own show.
cop: *asks for more time to correctly solve a case. . _Chief: “bad publicity” oh God no wonder so many people get put away when they’re actually innocent
1:57 guy walks with pastries!
The cheif Is always mad bruh homie then gets chill after he gives them a ultimatum
I didn't realize the police precinct has pastry service.
Warden Norton, still in trouble.
Can’t believe Greevey passed up a danish
Oh god. That girl walking the dogs.
Independent Just as the camera lowers down to the car interior, you can hear a background extra yell, “someone stole my bike!”
Not their problem.
1:50 Ohhhh man! mike Logan is right on the money with that question! Lol
Bob Gunton aka Warden Norton in The Shawshank Redemption in an early role. Hell, has he ever played a good guy?
Man my favorite part of this episode was when Stone played Hardball to get one of them to manslaughter 1.
Sooo, "he came after Alan" and "he came after I" , "he came after Alan and I". No, "he came after Alan" and "he came after me", "he came after Alan and me" .
6:01 isn’t that the Warden from Shawshank?
I swear he also pops up in SVU later.
It's the best when you've seen so many episodes that you see actors playing different roles. Back in the day, you weren't considered an actor in NY til you been in an episode of L&O...at least as an extra.
Yes, "Mr. Hymes" played by the talented Bob Gunton was Warden Norton in Shawshank. Bob is all over broadway, films and TV. Check him out on IMDb.
D3vot33nyc Interesting.
You know I ironically only watched L&O spin offs but never the original.
@Someone random
I KNEW I'd seen him someplace else!
What trips me out the most is, Capt. Cragen has HAIR!!!!
@@someonerandom8552 You have no idea what you have been missing!
It blows my mind that till this day people don't believe women commit serious crimes. It's baffling
Such an interesting phone on Dzundzas shoulder haha
Oh, look, its Captain Ben Maxwell (Actor Bob Gunton/Gil Himes). He's a long way from the _Phoenix._
Looking on the Brightside ..😂
Jesus Christ, the giggles of those two wise guys when Logan was telling Greevey about the incident with the toll booth sent my ribs into orbit. I’ve been looking for this clip all night 😂
I try and stay tuned daily.
I love these clips ... EXCEPT ... they're too short. What happens next?
2, one that kills the guy who has the lightbulb and the other one kills the guy who screws in the lightbulb
That crack addict seems pretty calm for someone who hasn't had a hit for at least a day.
Steven Kies lmao
He was at rikers. He might have honestly got lucky and just got a hit inside from somewhere/someone.
I've been in high stress situations. Strangely enough, I can recount those in detail, but I cannot remember why I walked into my bedroom.
Thanks for reminding me I need new glasses thxs to the weather channel saying we have to wear glasses for covid
It's been so long, is this the original 2 detectives?
Kicking_Fate I’m looking to get the complete set as well how much was it ?
@@kickingfatality Make sure it's not a bootleg one. I bought the complete set for $140 off of Ebay but it turned to be a fake. I'm sending it back this week. Used legit complete sets are selling for about $100 on Ebay.
I thing he also was on star trek next generation
@@franklindegaulle4351 no, that was Paul Sorvino that appeared in Star Trek:TNG. Sorvino replaced George Dzundza in Law and Order after Dzundza's character is murdered, as noted in the season premiere of the second season. Paul Sorvino played Lieutenant Worf's foster brother Nikolai Rozhenko in the Star Trek: TNG 7th season episode Homeward.
She for the SKREEETTTSS!!! - Future
"Leads a rich and full life, this lady."
It really depends on how many you can fit inside it.

I thought I recognized Greevey, he was Anubis in Stargate SG1
6:02 Get busy living or get busy dying...
The look of love is a sad ma$querade .
I think she forgot she’s in front of a hotel with no reasonable alibi to be there
I love this show .
How many light bulbs does it take to screw a killer? Maybe that should have been the question. 😏
Wow 🤩
She is really something!
Good police work all around.
Original Law n order rocks
I agree
Allen and me*
For how many does it take, is only 1!
No wonder the Captain was replaced.
I don't need any help.
Enough to trust for a human
Hey, it's Anubis!
I love Don!!
George Dzundza was a great detective, too bad that he was only for one season a part of this show.
Love Cargan, I like the two detectives but Benson and Stsbbler SVU is better! I'm here because I started watching the original of Law & Order where it all started! Love this
True, but they are SVU and these two aren't
@@iguessso1790 exactly they are two very different shows even though they both say Law and Order they're still really different. They should never be compared. And if they were so much better if they would need to be compared to anybody else.
Benson and Stabler and SVU is a buch of melodrama for housewives. It became too much of a soap drama after season 10.
@@jodypark8898 no wonder my daughter and ex-wife love SVU, while I think it''s insipid drivel...
The first season?
Confession: it's good for plotline...
He left prints on a very hot bulb?
ha ha ... more than one ... the one in the hallway, the other two on her
More please? 🙂
The idea of a prisoner openly speaking to police in front of other prisoners seems hella unrealistic lmao. That’s just painting a huge target on your back as an informant.
What does he have to lose?
@@mew10521 his life, mainly. His safety in general, his ability to function in that prison, stuff like that.
Willy was the star of this episode.
The big question is how do you get them into the light bulb?
I good bluff
She clearly says he shot us ok show me the bullet wound
DOUGLAS OAKES
How many light bulbs does it take to screw a killer ?
It's showing that the early show stepped on stupid lines like that instead of seriously making them as jokes.
Why turn out the lights? I wanna see what I'm doin'. Don't wanna amputate anything of mine now, do I? Fuck no.
it really pisses me off when somebody in this show shown the sky and its blue and still calls it pink
He couldn't have come after Alan and I. He could only come after Alan and me. Who writes these things ?
Her picture looked airbrushed.
but she took me there for Thanksgiving for a family dinner.
her mom has a horrible green bean and cornflake dish
Episode 6 not 5
This may be s01e06 not ep 5.

I hate Kragen. He's everything wrong with cops. "Hey we have reason to believe that we got the wrong guy and the real killer is out there" "so??????" What a worm. He plays an amazing complacent cop but man do I hate him
Doesn't the fat detective plays Anubis from the dinner episode in StarGate?
It always makes me smile when Americans talk about horse-back riding. Why is it necessary to explain what part of the horse's body your going to be riding on? In the UK we just say horse riding. Keep It Simple.
So you ride on a horses stomach in the UK?
@@madison-Roccoa-Mason-drake Either you're not a native English speaker or you didn't read my comment properly. Why would anyone, except an American feel the need to explain where on the horse the rider sits?
@@saminsaigon this is a weird thing to get mad about
You still pissed about the Revolution Sammy? Go ride a donkey.
Hey O'konnor
The killers would have to be pretty small to screw in a light bulb - and why would they even want to have sex in there?
I feel sorry for the horse 🐴 😅.
oooh Mike Logan. . . yummy
Name the movie and TV series Dzundza and Noth moved on to
after leaving L&O.
No.
