- Over 60% of the population in Goa is Hindu. This may come as a surprise to you, but yes it's a fact.
One thing that was even more surprising was the fact that the Hindu Saraswat cuisine is so under represented, and now that I have tasted it, I will have to say, everyone deserves a taste.
We met with Sapna Sardesai, the owner of the restaurant Kokum Curry in Goa. We learnt from her how traditional Saraswat Cuisine is distinctly different from the usual Goan-Portuguese fare, and we tasted several delicacies that are served every day at this beautiful restaurant.
Also my vegetarian friends and followers you will not be disappointed, there are more green dots on the menu than the red ones.
Come join me as we discover the undiscovered...

A Gaud Saraswat Brahmin here, from South Goa. It's a proud feeling for the entire community, and even the state for that matter, whenever people from across the country take interest into our culture and cuisine. Thank you for giving our food some space on your platform!!
Saraswat cuisine is the best among all fish receipies.. I have eaten fish at other states, types but didn't like much. I miss my grandmother's food. Typical sarswati food with divine taste.. Even i still remember dhondus, sasav etc damn good vegetarian dishes
Yeah .. thank you
Not south Goa it is north Goa
@@diegofernandes5549 but i'm from south goa
Loved to see .i would like to visit during my coming visit to Goa. Please share location of restaurant.
Very few know that the catholic community from Mangalore is from the GSB community. Being one from Bamon. The cuisine and food is similar to the food that we have at our homes and prepared during festivities. I am glad to know that these cuisines are not dying by the influence and introduction of the global cuisines. Great work team Khane main kya hai to show the hidden treasures!!! Kudos!!
Thank you Sapna Sardesai for giving GSB cuisine the attention it deserves. Uddamethi and tisryanche sukhe need be on every menu! Thanks Kunal for this episode
Right now vijaykar sir is the most punyawan person on planet😋😀😀
Yes...u r absulate right
rightly said
Goan Saraswat food is something even we Catholics drool about.
As kids and even now we Goan dont cook for Charurty coz we get this parcels from all neighbors and we look forward every year.
We actually have to fix days with friends that for Chaturti or Dewali we will be having lunch or dinner coz other days is for our other friends. It's an awesome experience we never miss non veg.
You were also hindu . Forcefully converted by portugese.
@@vikky_boy108who told you that we were forceful converted do you know atleast the history of goa before Portuguese, you are definitely a ghati who came here as bagger an now teaching us our goan history to us.
@@vikky_boy108 what rubbish you talk. The last rulers of India were the British, if there were forced conversations, the Christian population of India should have been 60% but it did not happen. You need a lesson in history the Aryans,Mughal, and the British all came for economic means ,had they all converted as u say the Christian population should have been a majority today. Even post Liberation Goa ,the ratio was 60% Hindus, so stop talking nonsense.
@@vikky_boy108 yeailo tin kesha makod. people like u spoil the Beauty of Goa. plz don't bring religion here. we are Goan first than comes our religion. we are foody and we are proud of it
@@vikky_boy108 Here you go again, blabbering your rss theory, as per which the people of the whole (Swedes, Danes, Dutch, Africans, etc.) world were Hindus.
Im a Gaud Saraswat Brahmin and its a moment of pride and joy to explore our community Cuisine highlighted on your vlog. It's a must visit to Sardesai ma'ams Kokum Curry Restaurant and Bar.
Why brahmins eat non veg?
as a gaud saraswat brahmin, watching other people showcasing our culture just makes me so proud
Being a Konkani myself, I love to see you try our cuisine
GSB cuisine is super delicious & they tend to preserve the natural taste of the core ingredient. The seafood is treated with the respect &delicacy it deserves. All of the dishes in this episode were drooliscious & had such a nice fresh look to them too. The lovely lady explained the cuisine in such an interesting way. Makes one want to head out to Candolim. Lucky lucky Kunal !!
plz do visit them when you are there
Gaud Saraswat Brahmin culture and food is not in limelight it's a hidden treasure in Goa thanks to food vloggers and CZcams that such gems are brought in the mainstream for viewers .

Kokum Curry! The name itself makes your mouth water. I had been there with my family once. The food was really awesome and delicious! The taste of each and every item in the Thali is so unique that it just stays with you. I must appreciate Mrs.sardesai (The chief chef), who personally looks into the kitchen as well the dinning hall. I recommend everyone to visit this place atleast once.
Finally I would say देव बरे करु!

Dear Bro😊, Oooh la la, finally our GSB food had been introduced. As you rightly said when it comes to Goa or Goan cuisine people only think it is limited to Sorpotel, Vindaloo, Chilly sausages and etc. Very few know that even the GSB food is very tasty and different.

Very nice good food in Goa
Have eaten at this lovely restaurant, just above Delfinos Candolim. GSB food is the best. They seem to have added many more dishes since we visited.
After watching this video we had decided to visit Kokum Curry in our next trip to Goa. And we relished it today at KC.
Being born and brought up in Goa and then shifted to Mumbai ,always use to search for Goan authentic food in restaurants.,we were missing this food on our platter. And today got a chance to visit KC at Candolim and have all that GSB authentic food. Sungtacho pulav, mirsaangeche raita, chicken xacuti, mangane .... Too yummy... Thank you Mrs.Sardessai for this food.
A must visit for tasting GSB authentic food.

Nice video & food 👌
Hello Kunal, First and foremost, I enjoy your channel, so much so I have become some what adductive to your episodes,
I come from a Saraswat family and was born very close to Goa in konkan, and even though I am far away from India for long time, I still cherish delicious food from different parts of India and indeed from many counties around the world. One question that always come to my mind is have you done tasting of international food recipes from outside India, i.e. Thai Food, Vietnamese, or ( Real ) Chinese food. Cheers.
I have been to Kokum Curry. In the whole rush of Goa, this was the place of respite. Tried both vegetarian and non vegetarian thali. It was soul satisfying. Every time I go to Goa, I will visit Kokum curry at least once.
I Love saraswat cuisine
Great 👌👌👌👌
found this place in Feb when we were in Goa, food here is really very good
Visited after seeing your video. Must visit.✌🏻
