A month ago I found ancient steps carved into solid rock. I climbed them. What I found at the top, and in the canyon as a whole, was extraordinary. I returned during the summer solstice event, to see if the towers might be ancient astronomical markers. What I discovered deepened the mystery.

There is an app you can get for iPhone, probably android too, called The Photographers Ephemeris. This lets you put a pin on a map anywhere on Earth, for any time, day or night, that lets you see how the light will fall on the land. Not as exciting as seeing it in person, but could help you discover where those shadows fall. Would maybe help you collect beta for your trips as well pal

I live in the four corners area and even have approx. 3 acres of Anasazi ruins on my property. I have visited many ancient ruin locations and have the following questions:
      1. I have visited many "granaries" but have never seen a corn cob, or vegetable matter in one of these locations. I have never found pots, baskets nor other storage vessels either. I question whether these unique "granaries" were actually for storing food. Could they be like a religious location like a sipapu or kiva? I have found lots of corn cobs in living locations however I am at a loss as to why I have never seen anything which would indicate these were granaries.
      2. Has anyone ever thought about using AI to decipher petroglyphs. I have seen similar petroglyphs in Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. AI has been used to decipher ancient languages and with the tremendous number of petroglyphs available to study, AI could definitely be helpful. Petroglyphs are similar to the Chinese language (writing) whereby an inscription has meaning, not just a letter in an alphabet. AI has the ability to determine meaning.

so i know what these mean! i know exactly what they are trying to say! 2:11 see these three formations? so in the vide he took down there where two separate petroglyphs. there was one with three figures but none of them looked human and two were obviously the formations one even has a goat right next to it but it’s off to the right of its head and there was also a star and a tribal symbol. but there was also another petroglyph which was very similar but from a different angle like it was higher up staring straight across at them and the third figure was definitely a human…. well that gives it all away right there because it was telling him about the ledge above him, he climbed up there in that video but he didn’t even notice it from the ground until he was flying his drone back towards himself from the formations. because the petroglyph depicted a human and not just a figure it means that it represents YOU or the person reading it and it’s telling them to climb the ledge and look at the formation to get a clear view because they are significant. the other petroglyph doesn’t depict any humans so the figure in front represents a third rock formation 2:11 right there! the goat is off to the side to represent that it is from another angle. the star is an abstract arrow telling him where to go like it is in motion and not a permanent object so it has to be the path or road but it is in code so as to not be too obvious what it means and then the tribal symbol is to let the reader know that it’s their form of communication so if you’re that tribe then you know how to read it. from this point of view 2:11 up on the flat lands you see a valley and a mountain range curving off to the right exactly how the shooting star did on the petroglyph so that is the path out of there. that it what it means! at the base of it he sees a goat and a figure but the goat is on the left so if he went to the left side of it then that formation would be on the left so it is telling him to go that way…. i cannot for the life of me get this guys attention though i even commented a lot on the original video and he never saw it. if it’s not exactly human then it represents the surrounding landmarks. i’ve known for over a week already and i can’t get hold of him and he even went back to try to figure it out which is really disappointing. this must have been an ancient corridor and these are road signs but they didn’t want other tribes to follow them so it is all in code. but if you already know the code then it is very obvious what it means

@@skipperclinton1087 sorry i tried to get his attention on the last video and he never saw it and then i got the notification right when he uploaded this video today so i tried everything to get his attention because he even says in this video that he’s going back a third time so i made a comment and then i commented ten times on my own comment and liked all of my own comments to try to move my comment upwards in relevance so he would see it and some chode comments “moderators suck” and got 200 likes and within minutes my comment got pushed way down so i put it on his own comment which he pinned to the top there’s already 30 other comments in there so then i started going to all the top comments to ask people to like my comment so he would see it and then a couple hours later there’s already different top comments so one guy had a theory so i wrote a new comment and then i just copied and pasted it back to the top comments so hopefully some way he will see it because he is going to go back and he thinks it has something to do with the solace or something he’s completely missing the message. but yes i am commenting a lot on this post because i want him to see it but his last video i basically did the same thing and it got taken down and he even went back there and never saw my post which is really disappointing and i am pretty’s sure i’m onto something that he could further validate and it may lead to other discoveries. i suffer from salt deprivation right so if i go out in the heat i’m likely to have a stroke or a seizure or an aneurysm so o want to pass my idea onto someone if their already willing to do the footwork in order to find out. i think the whole canyon was a passage corridor and the shelter ruins were made for travelers and the petroglyphs are all road signs in code so that their tribe could pass through there safely and that there’s even an ancient road out of there with probably other ruins or things of interest.

    Dear Desert Drifter,
The CZcams algorithm brought you to myself and I watched several videos of explorations; however, as a Native American from the IIlwami tribe in California ― I was extremely impressed by your curiosity and your total respect for ancient lands. There's a few hosts that often search the deserts for interesting finds; however, in truth they are "rude, obnoxious, and arrogant" then they will not share their discoveries with we Indigenous Peoples to help determine if the finds correlate with oral traditions.
From what I've gathered, your inquisitiveness is respectful and true to not disturbing the discoveries within the desert archives. Although most local tribe's are suspicious of people who explore their heritage lands, it's sometimes possible to befriend them in a meaningful way, too where they will explain such phenomenons. Natives have explored these lands for thousands and thousands of years although out the deserts territories' for many practicle reasons, such as hunting guides, signs to guide travelers through the desert, as well as locating any significant spiritual connections. Natived did not wander aimlessly when it came to astronomical events, but instead these were venerated for their significance.
Although, the solar alignment didn't correlate with the Summer Solstice, if you look closer, you'll notice the angles are more closely aligned with the two Equinoxes' called the Vernal Equinox (Spring) and the Autumnal Equinox (fall). Both Equinoxes' occur on days when day and night are exactly 12 hours long, and the Sun is directly above the Equator at High Noon. Equinoxes' were especially important, more so than the Solstices', although I'll not discount their importance also, because they are also significant for various reasons.
It appears that you found a "Solar Observatory" in my opinion, even if, the alignment might be off by a few degrees, taking into account the North Pole shifts in cycles due to Earth's Global Wobble. Conventional systems of study quite continually discount Indigenous Peoples resourcefulness, as well as our understanding of Geometry. You'll discover that there are multiple mathematical concepts through various alignments through out these desert planes.
Conventional University's: Archeologists, Astronomers, Geologists, Sociologists, Anthropologists, Mathematic Experts ― All have conclusions which are merely explored on the surface; but, not as an entire systemology as all Native Americans think, believe and do with respect to the land. Our religion takes the entire view into account, not merely simple alignments. I often must explain the only other culture which thinks in the same terms are in Japanese Shintoism's World View of Universes' within more Universes' to the infinite. The Infinite can become as large as "Macro as the Galaxy" turning ― The converse is equally applicable as the 'Micro is a reflection of the Macro", into smaller and smaller Universes.
This is something you'll never find in any book or on any map; however, your on the road to discovery. I wondering, if there, are any other places you might explore with great your great care and reverence of the desert lands when requested?
My name is "Raven Shadow" and I guard all points, regarding my culture everywhere within the United States. I'm a voting member of the National Congress of the American Indian (NCIA) in Washington DC; a member in good standing as a 32° Degree of the venerated Egyptian Rosicrucian Order; obtained several Higher Education Diplomas from the top Institutes of Architecture; my blood family lineage was partially responsible for the "Overtaking of Alcatraz Island in 1969"; although educated in Architecture, my explorations include "A Photographic Study of Petroglyphic Art and Cultural Communications" (especially those within Chaco Canyon) which resemble Egyptian Hieroglyphics'. The United States Government has historically through the Smithsonian Institute, purposefully destroyed any significant finding that might prove any Cross-Atlantic contacts.
This was done (continuing in covert operations to this day) to affirm the Christopher Columbus route supporting the explanation of Westward expansion, so as to 'not' validate any prior Native American Land Claims.
Would you be interested in a coventure?
    With Respects,
    Raven Shadow

While the summer solstice is an important solar marker, if you have time to go back during the autumnal equinox, you might find more interesting shadows in that canyon.
Another possibility is trying to align dates of known comets passing overhead. We've created so much light pollution that we tend to forget that the ancients had a perfect view of the milky way.

    • @Elf_Hour
      @Elf_Hour Před 5 dny +9

True, the Equinox would be a good time to double-back) But I must point out, the problem with the Equinox is that it is 'fuzzy'. Solstices are the same for everyone globally, regardless of location. What is currently called the 'Equinox' is a bit of an oversight; it is better referred to as the Fall or Spring 'Quarter'. The Equinox is much bigger than just one day; it is an amazing thing and actually takes about 50 days to sweep the Earth. By 'equinox' I mean when night and day are of equal length. When it actually occurs depends on location, Longitude and Latitude. Latitude determines which day it occurs while Longitude affects AM or PM. These variations make it 'fuzzy'. It would be cool to find when it occurs for this location in the canyon and see if that's the day the ancients observed, too)

Watched you climbing into the slot canyon with your wife. Good job. And the curiosity and fearlessness is what makes it a great adventure and educational. No.3: I'm not one to subscribe to "Ancient Aliens" and the like on a regular basis but many of the petroglyphs and drawings do seem to depict strange things (beings) 🤔. No.4: Curious why many structures (houses) were built sometimes impossibly high? Lions, tigers and bears? Or maybe scary cannabalist tribes. No.4: Great job! Best show on CZcams. The verticals lines on the rock remind me of some I saw in a small cave-alcove many years ago when I used to go out exploring. The lines in the cave I saw were like a calendar. The sun would hit the vertical line for a particular day. As the sun moved a little each day, the sun would touch a different line. There was a circle above one line which ended up being for the summer solstice. So, if the vertical lines on the wall are not from erosion, they may be a type of calendar marking the day. You would have to see where the sunshine touches each sunrise to see if that is the case.

I have no words as to why CZcams needs to protect us from you while I can still watch horrific shorts of people getting knocked down in traffic accidents! You seem to be a highly responsible person with great respect for the desert, its dangers, and its history as well as your own safety. Keep them coming! If you are ever in Australia, I'm pretty sure we can find you some interesting desert with ancient rock art - and, even better, a still living culture that will explain their significance to you. Thanks for all your uploads, love them..

Rick, thank you for your contributions to the music industry. I was 23 when I got my first gig in Nashville doing live sound. I knew nothing. Not much anyway. I'm very fortunate there were patient, caring people who shared their experience and knowledge with me.
I dropped music theory in my second year of college because I wasn't getting it... I sucked at math. I don't have many regrets but.... I wish there had been someone to tell me, keep coming back. This isn't easy, you'll get it.
The best engineers I worked with had studied music and played an instrument. The most difficult musicians I worked with were guys who had taken a studio production course. Go figure. Keep doing what you're doing. Your content is fabulous.

like the human figure in the petroglyph from the last video was directing him to climb the ledge. the goat petroglyph at the base of the formation shows the goat on the left so if he continues around the other side the goat would in fact be on the left so it’s telling him to go that way. the three figures in the other petroglyph are not human so it suggests a third formation. behind the three formations you see right at 2:11 there’s a valley shaped like the star, it’s telling him to follow that valley…. it’s very obvious once you figure it out

Here's an idea. When you line up the data from a point in astronomical time that matches the solstices listed over the curved arch on the cliff....you'll see the date etched in Stone of its creation! Same dating system used all over the world to truly "date" such creations. I bet your discovery is QUITE ANCIENT!
The Earth has moved its poles a few times over the centuries...a long time ago, it lined up perfectly.
You're seeing that Ancient Language of Astronomy. And its beautiful!!

Wow, I try to examine so much of you're hard work and I found what I thought was a huge head/statue piece at 24:13. If you pause the video at that time, just to the right, starting at the middle of the video, there looks to be a huge head piece. I am always curious of what could have been there years ago. I admire the curiosity and dedication you have to this work. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DISCOVER IF WE JUST TAKE TIME TO LOOK!!!! Thank you again for all you do!

so i know what these mean! i know exactly what they are trying to say!

At about 24:13 in the video the flat stone with a smooth slightly curved center is a grinding stone and if you google “south Indian grinding stone” one of them is a flat stone with tiny chips knocked out of the surface just as can be seen around the edges of the stone you found. Just one more curiosity to add 😁

17:22 the "person" glyph is the other tower. From the ground you wouldn't know where you were, but those glyphs tell you that you're at the location. Maybe a meeting place or hunting ground or tribe identifcation like "Welcome to Big Horn Sheep Tower Town,"

Drifter, it's not necessary to be near the towers to find out where their shadows will be at sunrise on a given day. Just search 'What's the azimuth of the sun at sunrise at this location on this day'. For location, any nearby town will work because the azimuth won't change much for short distances. The sun azimuth will be given relative to true north (not magnetic north); just be sure when you plot on your good map you plot relative to true north. Once you know the direction of the sun, you can plot the direction of its shadow.

Thank you, Andrew. This is so exciting! I have a feeling you are on the right track. The ancients were spiritual and they had astrological awareness corresponding with their surroundings. They had directions plainly marked that you could see from miles away. They also had distinct boundries with natural formations of earth. The two pillars meant something to them. Also at the time stamp 14:56-59, the big horn sheep, a figure on the right, notice the crescent shaped moon, like half a bowl. I think there is something there. I wish I knew what it all means. Anyway, love your Desert Excursions and thank you, for letting us tag along and your treasure you share.

@@Desert.Drifterhave a look at one of the photographer's ephemeris apps (like photo pills) it can show you sun and moon directions on a map and where light will fall etc. It could be very useful for planning trips like this.
Also perhaps a small led photo light (doesn't need to be more than hand size) so you can shine light at an oblique angle to have the petroglyphs stand out could help with making them visible
In any case thanks for the great work 👍
