    Lots of people like comparing N-914 to ONR. My personal experience is that I began my rinseless washing education using N-914 (I tried the Wolfgang uber rinseless as well). Those often left streaks and smearing, making the job more time consuming and frustrating than just puling out a hose and bucket. Then I found out about ONR, the big red sponge. That combo, along with some double twistress towels, provided the most consistent results of cleaning thoroughly without streaks and smears, making it far more "user-friendly". N914 did its job to clean, but it just kept me working much more to achieve the same result that ONR was providing with less effort.
    Each person will have their own experience, this happened to be mine. And yes, I learned about the Optimum line up here on the TRC channel.
    If that makes me a shill for TRC and ONR, then a shill be I.

    looking forward of a comparison video between ONR and the P&S Absolute Rinseless Wash

  • @xantonin
    @xantonin Před 3 lety +6

    The concern with the mitt being dirty is after you rinse it. If you're only using one mitt (like washing with a two bucket but for rinseless) then you're not going through 8 sided microfibers, and you want the mitt to not be stained with dirt before you apply it back to the car.
    I'm not sure how the dirt sticking to the mitt compares with it's ability to pull off dirt from the car, but other rinseless products look better when the mitt rinses off cono clean allowing you to feel safer about rubbing that same mitt back into another panel.
    If ONR expects you to use many microfibers like a waterless wash is done, and says this provides a better clean as well, then that would be good to know too. But OBR pioneered the rinseless wash as a two bucket and a mitt substitute for washing without rinsing.

    • @theoneders2056
      @theoneders2056 Před 3 lety +2

      Exactly, I like how these Reps keep dodging the question by answering a totally different question. No one is complaining that the media is dirty upon wiping dirt off a panel, no duh, of course it should be dirty! The real question is: Why is my mitt still looking filthy no matter how many times I dunk it in ONR bucket to rinse and even grind it against grit guard washboard. Other products will truly release dirt into tue bucket and leave you with a clean wash mitt before putting back onto the next panel.
      I took a microfiber wash pad that was filthy from using it with ONR, rinsed it thoroughly and barely any improvement, went ahead and dumped it into a bucket of Mckee's Rinseless and the mitt cleaned up significantly after letting it dwell in there for a few hrs.
      So what's the deal?

    Probably not the best thing that someone messes with a known good product and not tell consumers, given that it might be better or might be worse. I don't think this is what was actually meant in the video. I _suspect_ that Dr. G pretty much known 99.9% that the new product is better and is really trying to find out if people can actually tell the difference.

    Unfortunately for me I have bad luck when using ONR, and firmly believe it does not clean as well as a standard soap. I'm by no means a professional, just a weekend warrior, but my car always looks bad after using ONR. Proper dilution, heavy dilution, light dilution, using the multiple towel method, using a single wash mitt, using the BRS, etc. - I just can't get it to give me the results I'm looking for.
    For some strange reason though, I feel I always have to have it in my arsenal, and find myself buying more every time I run low on it. I bought the new formula but haven't used it yet... maybe I'll have better luck.

      I never had a issue but seems with soap it rinses some if the crud off the car. Look at a wash mitt or towel wiping after soap and then a RW. The media and bucket is a lot dirtier using a RW.

      Are you using distilled water? That is the only water I use and the results are excellent. Try using multiple microfiber wash mitts also.

      Another Weekend Warrior. I have been using ONR for just shy of 10 years now and it never disappoints. I used the multiple MF wash clothes method - aka Gary Dean Method. I have 3 cars atm, all are machined polished with some form of coating on them, albeit only consumer grade coatings. They come up so nicely when they get their routine ONR maintenance wash. Very little evidence of swirling on each of the cars.
      I do always use the Optimum QD as a drying aid - maybe you should try something like this.
      Good Luck

Levi mentioned this but has the wrong idea on what it means. The way he describe it.. the wash media staying cleaner leaving dirt on the car. We are talking about staining after use. N-914 cleaned the wash media better and/or prevent it from becoming stained.

    Can you or any of the Reps FINALLY give us an honest answer on why does ONR leave wash mitts/towels dirty and stained regardless of how much they're rinsed? We're not talking about dirt on media after wiping a panel, that's obviously to be expected, we are talking about rinsing media in bucket yet still dirt all over it. You say ONR released dirt right away and to bottom of bucket, ok so what are we seeing on the wash media looking all black/gray???? Even after washing in machine, media looks beat and stained.
    I love the way ONR behaves during cleaning and really want to go back to using it regularly but damn, why isn't anyone answering this question?

    • @TheRagCompanyFAQ
      @TheRagCompanyFAQ  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey there! We’re happy to answer this and hope you can pass this info along. During an ONR wash, the wash media WILL become dirty. Especially using a Microfiber towel or Mitt. Keep in mind, the media is removing more than just light dust from the surface of a vehicle. It’s removing oils from the road, bug splatters, bird droppings etc. So while the media is completely capable of releasing dust particles in ONR, it’s the greasier stuff that may not fully release from the microfiber in one dip. After all, microfibers job is to provide a deeper clean and pull contaminates deep into the fibers. Now, does this worry us about taking that same media back to the paint? Not at all. ONR does a fantastic job of keeping the dirt away from the paint regardless of the media. Hence why the UBS or BRS works so well. BUT WHY DO OTHER RINSELESS WASHES WASH CLEAN RIGHT?! Well that comes down to the fact that other rinseless washes are not full removing the grime from the vehicle. The chemical nature of those will “push” dirt around more than absorb them. Think of it as a high diluted quick Detailer that doesn’t necessarily have the cleaning power but more the lubrication. ONR is a cleaner. That what it does. If it didn’t pull dirt into the wash media, that would be more of a concern because if it’s not in the mitt or towel, it’s still on the panel correct? So now you’re drying more dirt into the paint. So how do you fix dirty wash media? We recommend spraying it down with a APC and performing a normal wash with something like R2R. We have yet to see a ONR dirt stain last up to that combo. Hope that helps!

    I think are products are subjective and all about opinion. One thing is that optimum (ONR) should have updated their old labeling it’s been a while and looks outdated. ONR is good for what it does but for me I like American detailer garage (wipeout) a lot more. Also, the best IMO is Ammo Frothe and you won’t find a slicker rinse wash on the market. (Most are discourage on price point). The market now is just flooded with rinse wash products. ONR is very good for price point and what it does. Just never truly liked it.

      It's a shame they wanna wait until the market is flooded and other products became more popular before giving us an improved formulation. Before, it was the whole "if it ain't broke don't fix it" responses and now all of a sudden, they're always being improved upon 😕.
