    Unbolt the subframe, shocks, jack the car up really high. You can use cinder blocks in a locking pattern on the back, maybe a level or two. Drop the jacks and wheel that engine out of there. Engine and trans out in 2 hrs or less.

      It's easier this way, done a full swap and running in 5 hours taking breaks. Love 4 cylinders 😊

      That’s the proper way to do it according to the books, never seen it done though 🤔 plus my garage is pretty small 😅

      Thanks for the feedback! It’s honestly not that bad of a job hardest part is yanking out the engine and that bolt holding the cv-axle bracket. May be worth spraying it a few days ahead cause it was crazy tight on mine

      @@tonytorques haha sooo about that. I got the job all done this morning runs like a champ for a junkyard engine. But the bearing on the cv axle that sits in that bracket you are talking about was so seized in there I ruined the axle. Had to pry and air hammer it out. It was like a 100$ so not horrible. Lol but your video helped out big time. I was planning on dropping out bottom. Glad I didn't do all that. Thanks bud

    Hey this video is absolutely fantastic! Very to the point in full of great information!
    I was writing to you because I have the same vehicle but mine is a 2.5 L four-cylinder, do you know if the same principles apply?

    • @tonytorques
      @tonytorques  Před rokem

      Thanks! Been working on keeping the videos short and informational 🤙🏽 yes it should be the same principal, the engine I installed was actually off a car but it still bolted on with a few modifications. Therefore the same procedures should apply!

      @@tonytorques thanks! So the 2.5 isn’t any bigger external dimensions wise?

    • @tonytorques

      Not really just the block is slightly smaller and the head is a little different 💯

      2.5 block is smaller that 2.4 block!?

    My 2008 toyota rav4 sport needs a new engine and was wondering if it would be the same process? Its a 2.4L based on my vin that I looked up.

    • @tonytorques
      @tonytorques  Před 2 měsíci

      @@zeronw7612 process should pretty much be the same, the body style and engine stayed the same maybe just slightly different harness but the major steps in this vid should be the same

    Can you pull the engine out like this with a 5 speed manual transmission, or only with an automatic?

    • @tonytorques
      @tonytorques  Před 6 měsíci

      If you got a manual transmission it’s actually easier to do the same engine pull, you can do it the same way too!

    • @TimezUp23
      @TimezUp23 Před 6 měsíci

      @@tonytorques but the clutch has to be removed from the fly wheel, otherwise there isn’t enough clearance to pull the engine up. The torque converter can be detached, but I’m not sure the clutch can be, or can it be?

    • @tonytorques
      @tonytorques  Před 6 měsíci

      @@TimezUp23 ah ok yea the flywheel cannot be unattached without taking out the pressure plate and clutch first, you may be able to jack up the engine and trans together to get the clearance to pull the trans out first then the engine so it actually would be a little more work

    How do you remove the torque converter if the engine is seized?

    • @tonytorques
      @tonytorques  Před 11 měsíci +2

      Dang if it’s seized and no way it’s gonna turn, then you would have to remove the engine oil pan and then disconnect the main rod bearings caps from the crankshaft. That way the crankshaft can free spin and allow you to turn it over
