Great video mate
Thanks very much
Not something i can say I’m an expert at I just film the shows but I do keep birds plus Budgerigar many years ago
It's a nice video, sharp, I didn't see many people I knew. Perhaps not surprising because most of the men I knew back then are no longer there or have quit the hobby.😉
What’s your background with the show & Budgerigar ?
@@birdhub-uk I live in Holland and had my first budgies in 1969. These were regular budgies, nothing special. In 1971 I started taking it more seriously and attended several shows. In 1979, I met George Jenkins from Worcester UK and entered into a partnership. Hence my comment, which is not welcomed by everyone. The showbird in the past was a beautiful graceful bird. Now people are only concerned with the head, but lose sight of the graceful aspect. Unfortunately, graceful appearance is no longer judged, otherwise the quality birds would have shown it.
I know that these comments, even on other videos about show birds, will definitely not make me any friends.
Just study a number of videos, people almost always only take the head into view... where has the whole bird gone?😉
Very interesting thanks for sharing your knowledge & views on the subject

It's a shame that I no longer see the beautiful style show Budgie. People only concentrate on the headline, but forget the rest. I miss the style that the earlier breeders such as George Jenkins, Eric Lane & Son etc. etc. had. One must quickly adapt to the type, otherwise it will become an ugly, clumsy, star-gazing Budie, the elegance is completely gone.
Looking at some of the prize-winning exhibits I am not sure what the breeders are trying to achieve I think they have lost the plot. Keep up this style of breeding soon the true feature of the bird will be lost. Scraggerly unkempt feather structures some birds look like mutant misfits, birds without eyes, well eyes hidden under a crown of fuzzy feathers these are not budgies they are fantasies.
There is no merit in breeding misfits, to change genetics will lead to disaster.
