I was honoured to meet both of these beautiful men at a celebration for the Last Of The Summer Wine show. Unbelievably wonderful men in their own right. Warm, affectionate and respectful to everyone they met, and I have so many wonderful memories of the short space of time I got to spend with them :-) My love for both of them is eternal, as is the show they helped bring to so many people over the many years they worked together.
I couldn't agree more especially the love for them
Brought tears to my eyes, beautiful video, thank you for sharing this with the world. Rest in Peace to Bill Owen and Peter Sallis.

Sad and beautiful at the same time. I never knew they were buried together. Thank you for making this video.
Your way of describing the cemetery and of those interned there with such reference and respect. You have a wonderful and engaging way of talking which makes listening to your commentary so professional and a pleasure to listen too. My late mother so enjoyed the show and looked forward to each episode strange how watching this show brought back so many memories of my mother and how she laughed especially at the character Compo. Thank you so much for a brilliant video and i will look forward to more in the future.
Plus Peter Sallis was supermodel beautiful.
I agree, the presenter was interesting as well as being kind and respectful to these two lovable actors. Debs xx

WAY TO THE STAR.
That's mine too. I have a book of the poetry by John Pudney.
@@jaynebuchan2461 where did you get the book from.
@@jaynebuchan2461 do not despair for Johnny in the air,
I absolutely adore that poem,
I bought it for £1 many years ago from a second hand bookshop. Second edition - 1946, with Birthday dedication to 'mummy from daddy & Veronica ,11th May 1946. A great find!
The dust cover was originally for a different book but reused. John Lane publishers

Nice drone footage at the end which made a lovely scene and a fitting tribute to these beloved legendary actors.
❤ Thank you for sharing

I loved there characters together loverly together r I p and I watch carry ons to think of him too😂😢
Cracking cheese, Gromit!
Thanks for a lovely video. I often visit Holmfirth and love to go to St. Johns where the headstones are. Roy Clarke should also have an OBE for his brilliant writing. I still tear up at those words on the hill "see ya Compo" so cleverly devised by Truly.
Glad you enjoyed it
i visited there a few years ago a lovely place summer wine is my favourite sitcom
A lovely video Paul thankyou 😊
Two wonderful actors. Thank you the laughs, RIP together.
Not even Winsleydale- Wallace in "Wallace and Gromit: A Close Shave".

Thank you for the background I fo of two great actors. 👍
One of my all time favorite British shows.
Mrs H .... Thanks for remembering these two funny great actors ..I actually needed to wipe my eyes....With life being so busy it's easy to forget just exactly how many laughs we got from them...RIP Bill & Peter you gave us so many laughs and smiles which are appreciated 💙💙
I believe that Bill Owen also played Thelma's father in The Likely Lads or Whatever Happened to The Likely Lads. Great video. Thanks.
He did that.
appreciated sir.
RIP Gudgin, no need to be scared of ghosts now, you are one now
seen every single episode :D
So glad their their looks like real.england
Can't beet the British comedies, those two men were great as we're the others in the show their timing was the best. USA
Me and my dad love to watch these guys , very enjoyable.
It`s quite a compliment that two actors from down south, wanted to be buried `oop north and together, in an out of the way churchyard.
I love ❤️ your channel thank you 🙏 so much for your videos I love ❤️ how you tell us all about the history of the churches and you tell us about the person or people thank you 🙏 so much so interesting to listen to xx
You are so welcome
very interesting fullpackage done looking forward to joining you in more videos
Rest in peace bill and Peter!!
When they filmed the death of Compo in last of the summer wine you could see the pain etched on Peters face throughout the couple of episodes they covered it , even now I find those episodes hard to watch especially when they did the bit at the end & spelt out Compo on the hill side I just know they will be sliding down some hillside on a tin tray together somewhere RIP Compo & Cleggy
Wonderful video and so respectful. Bill Owen also played Thelma's father in Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads.
Butifull,thanku
More so than the U.S.
💜👍💜👍
RIP Peter, had a coffee with him on a few occasions when he lived in London W1 had to be a coffee because he told me he never drank alcohol
Glad to see you managed to gain access to the inside. Good work, and It’s a sub from me! 💙.
Thanks for the sub!, Yes I like to include the chapels/churches if I can but mostly closed, have you stopped searching?
@@interestingplaces1 I haven’t stopped searching. As of this weekend, new uploads will be posted. Recently, been to busy.
@@EnglishGrave its hard graft trying to travel and fit them in and edit, take care
Peter Sallis, Curse of the Werewolf and Curse of the Wererabbit!
A career well bookended.
I would like to make a valid point here. These two men were very famous, is there hundreds of people there NO, have there graves been damaged NO. So those relatives who think it’s “their” right to stop people from paying their respects by hiding the whereabouts of a grave of a famous person who has died. In my opinion are very selfish. When all people would like to do is say thank you. The relatives need to remember it was the public who gave them the fame and fortune.
Most of the famous actors love the attention so cutting it all off seems wrong.
Valid points, I can never understand how when these stars spend the whole of their lives in the public suddenly the families want to hide their existence when their gone
This can be quite morbid, so is the very reason we need someone who can entrance us when it comes to telling stories like this one.
Was this church ever featured in any of the episodes as the Lychgate entrance looks very familiar?
Wonderful actors - loved the series. Sadly, however lost interest when Foggy left for the last time. The newcomers just didn’t gell. However, I have the complete series, & when it returns to our screens YET AGAIN! I will be transfixed.
Must add that Wallace & Grommit were also a firm favourite - his voice was amazing!!
Rest Peacefully, lads & thanks for providing so much enjoyment!❤️
The smaller headstone on Bill's place of rest is from his son Tom who also starred in LOTSW..After Bills death.
I think British film of any genre are more realistic to life circumstance and situations state of affairs
"Friends"
I am in the United States I watch your videos and I see the letters obe and me alot what does that mean?

@@interestingplaces1 thank you love your channel
As soon as I hear it I'm going to leave
I’ve seen where these two are buried..couldn’t of buried them in a worse place 🤷🤷🤷🤷people walking allover you.(especially Bill) and far to close to the path..they must of buried Bill up right ? Looking at the space that he has….one of the worst grave positions that I’ve ever seen 🤷🤷🤷🤷for two such great actors..
why was Peter Sallis duried in West Yorkshire ?
Why was Londoner Bill Owen buried in West Yorkshire?
BECAUSE THEY WERE BOTH HONORARY YORKSHIREMEN
Say's there is a reply, but I can't see it. The reason is he requested to be buried next to Bill Owen, as they had became such good friends during the filming of Last Of The Summer Wine. I am not sure if true, but believe he requested it when Bill was buried.
Both actors from that great age of television. Not saints. There is a natural antagonism between Compo Bill Owen and the likes of Foggy Brian Wilde. I believe in real life both actors did not always see eye to eye. Thats the way things are. But it works well on TV.
Its pronounced ro bottom
THEY WERE NOT BURIED TOGETHER IN FACT THEY WERE BURIED SIDE BY SIDE IN SEPARATE GRAVES THATS WHY THERE IS 2 HEADSTONES NOT ONE
Yes their request was to be buried together side by side, which I clearly show in the content of this video and yes your correct I have shown two headstones side by side, what your implying is that I meant in the same grave, watch the video properly and you will see no reference to them being buried in the same grave, your the only person who has mentioned one headstone, by the way if you don't like the content in this channel feel free to go somewhere else
He also talked as toad can't remember the program
Compo is compost
