Cool, yeah the Protomen gigs were outstanding, what a band!! And yeah, I'm singing on the new Ayreon "The Theory of Everything". Wait until you hear that one!!
Michael I'm here after listening to The Day The World Breaks Down I sincerely adored your performance as The Father in The Theory Of Everything, and your vocals as the TH-1 are majestic. So I came here to listen to your own music, I am really dumb-founded Keep up the good work...
Holy crap this is amazing. I love finding great music via other great music (The Theory of Everything, where the leader singer of Toehider played the Father).
Mister Mills. I became a fan of your music through the music of Ayreon, and I'm still a fairly recent fan. You are a slight sidestep away from my prefered genres, but your music is so infectious and quite a few of yours songs have strongly resonated with me. Tonight I was having just a really awful night. Nothing in particular set it off, just the depression hit really scarily hard. I was down in a pretty black pit, and was feeling quite alone. Desperate for a distraction, I opened youtube and the 'watch it again' first choice was this song. Clicked, ended up singing along and by the end of it, well I wasn't just magically 'fixed' by any means but I no longer felt quite so suffocated and near-panicked by the weight of everything SO I just wanted to say thank you for indirectly being there when I had absolutely no one there at a really dark moment. (also I've been drinking a lot and will probably kick myself for typing this when I sober up, but thank you again) You are a brilliant and uber talented person and I'm so glad I found your music.
Hey buddy, I know you posted this comment over a year ago so I'm kinda late, but I just want you to know that that was awesome and kind of surreal to read since I feel the same exact way alot of the time. I know how it feels to just get that POP! DEPRESSION out of nowhere, I know how to feels to desperately try to seek solace in anything you possibly can, I know how it feels to attempt to distract yourself from it with music like this. You don't know me, but speaking as someone who can relate, I hope things got better or at least slightly more tolerable than over a year ago. Toehider will help, Mike has gotten me through many-a rough patch. Much love from Pennsylvania, homeslice, keep on keeping on!
Wow i only came across this band today, I thought I'd check out this guy who sings on the new ayreon album and as an aussie I'm glad we have another great prof band here
I'm Aussie and love prog but know nothing about you man. Ayreon brought me here after my recent discover of that group. Looking forward to discovering your material...Cheers
As a fan of Ayreon, and other Dutch masters such as Robby Valentine and Valensia, I'm officially adding Toehider to the list of my favorite barriers-breaking bands. This is great.
Knowing about such a great band makes me feel superior to many people I know, who just listen to whatever's on the radio. I will most certainly try to force my opinion about Toehider on others, but in a cool and rad way, of course.
Toehider is freaking awesome! the stuff Michael Mills did with Arjen Lucassen was cool too! I'd like to see these dudes collaborate with Mattias IA Eklundh I think that would be exciting.
Studying game design, randomly come across a game called Crossfire, has music from a band, search the band, band is awesome. Been a fair while since I found a new band that was just awesome like this. It all feels familiar and yet so different, really optimistic and energetic. Like is 3 inches of blood hooked up with Stratovarius
I never leave comments on youtube. Ever. In fact, this is my first. This song requires a comment and a positive one at that. This is the best song I have heard in a VERY long time. Keep up the great work. I hope to see big things in the future!!! To echo Smokems, let the sharing commence!!!
I've stumbled into the world of Toehider and it's everything I've wanted musically. You guys came to Perth in Jan but I only found out about you about 4 weeks ago. Here's hoping you tour again really soon!
This totally eclipsed the sunrise for me today! Awesome! I should've check you out years back, but never did. It's never too late, eh? Cheers! EDIT: Whatever makes you feeeeel, whatever makes you feel superior! Ooh-ooooh oooooh YEAH! WHATEVER MAKES YOU FEEL SUPERIOR
Never heard of them before, but Saw these guys support DTP in SYD last week, best opening band i've seen to date, very tight and seemed well polished but all in all strait up great songs. will be heading to see them for when they're back in brassy for sure!
My word, this is awesome. I saw you guys play before Protomen at The Evelyn. You guys sounded awesome on stage. I don't usually like live bands that I haven't heard the recordings of. Good job guys. Keep it up. I heard that you got to play with Arjen on the next Ayreon. Does Mills get to sing on that album?
Nice guys, I only just realised Devin Townsend was playing tonight, got myself a ticket and saw you were the support band. Never heard of ya, but this is a catchy song so I'll see ya in about 2.5 hrs.
You guys are fucking fantastic... our upcoming band will hopefully be supporting acts with prog bands and maybe more mainstream stuff like Karnivool/APC in future in this area, would be great to collab with you guys... GOOD LUCK WITH AYREON!!! Will be some fucking great experience for you!!
If this makes you think, oh the lyrics are clearly talking about the left or the right. Or it is talking about this supporters are that supporters, I am sorry to tell you but the lyrics are talking about you, me and everyone in today's world. Whatever happened to civility and neutrality, everyone has become too extreme nowadays. Regardless of your views this culture of outrage has polarized everyone and unless we learn to live together again, regardless of what the "others" have done on the past or are doing now, this is going to end badly. We can set things right, now, or future generations will learn from our mistakes after they open history books that talk about how extremes of each group led us to a war.
I love this song. Adore it even. But the production lets it down. Earlier recordings have better mixes. Such a shame. Having said that, I'm still going to buy it and tell everyone I know about them.
The riff from 3:07-3:25 under the guitar solo wouldn't happen to be influenced by Porcupine Tree would it? Because it sounds very familiar czcams.com/video/S8PmDjqU6uo/video.html
Urgghhh this is a weird thing that happens. Like I listened to that album maybe 2 or 3 times when it came out 15 years ago or whatever. Somehow that rhythm just must have sneaked in subconsciously or something
The only reason I noticed it is because I did the exact same thing with my band. We wrote a riff with the same rhythm as Futile. Guess PT just has some catchy rhythms! Anyway I'm hyped to hear you on the new Ayreon!!
Much love from the Ayreonauts!
Awesome. This song is like the love child of Queen and Queensryche.
Cool, yeah the Protomen gigs were outstanding, what a band!!
And yeah, I'm singing on the new Ayreon "The Theory of Everything". Wait until you hear that one!!
This is one of the greatest songs ever written
Ah now I remember why I often quote “what ever makes you superior”. Heckin Toehider, man been years since I listened to this song. Nostalgic
Michael I'm here after listening to The Day The World Breaks Down

Love how heavy some of the parts are, love the other parts as well.

This is the most hilarious annotation job I've ever seen. Kickass song as well.
Yeah I'm an Ayreon fan too, but now I'm a Toehider fan also. Great work guys. Hey Michael Awesome work on the Ayreon Universe concert.
thanks Arjen Lucassen! for bringing me to this great music!
Yeah, I can hear an influence in Steve Vai's Fire Garden. I can also hear some Queen influences too - the early stuff.
thank yo ayreon!
man took me ages... in hindsight I should have added them in a video editor haha. Thanks for checking it out!
Toehider might be the finest prog-rock of our modern age. Awesomely creative and entertaining tunes. Spread the word!
Thanks brother!!
How cool is when as a musician you can do whatever you want!, well...that's Toehider!!!!
Great stuff man, I hope your music gets more attention it really deserves it.
I'm Aussie and love prog but know nothing about you man.

Seriously awesome. Thank Andy from Lord for pushing this onto me!
nospeedlimit73 I love that guy!!
Honestly, I met Toehider before I met Ayreon. Match made in heaven, though. You are an amazing composer and a clever singer. I love your stuff.

Knowing about such a great band makes me feel superior to many people I know, who just listen to whatever's on the radio. I will most certainly try to force my opinion about Toehider on others, but in a cool and rad way, of course.
Catchy as hell. I want more.

This song is fire, and the lyric annotations make me laugh every time.

Reminds me a bit of Steve Vai (Fire Garden/Sex & Religion era), outstanding
Just saw you guys with Devin Last night, you put on a fucking rad show.
Consider me a fan.
Hey mikeee, i wana see your take on a song in the style of symphony x or neoclassical prog in general:) in the next album hopefully
You guys likely to be in Western Australia anytime soon? Would love to see you
Hah! This is do damn great.
I love this song. Adore it even. But the production lets it down. Earlier recordings have better mixes. Such a shame. Having said that, I'm still going to buy it and tell everyone I know about them.
Are you guys going to come to Canada? What with Devin being Canadian and all that - because THAT would be a show I'd travel for.
Any brisbane shows coming up
lol love it guys :D
Weird. It says there should be lyrics in the annotations, but there's nothing.
Yep youtube got rid of annotations back in 2019
Well this wasn't what I was expecting
dodgrblu what were you expecting?
Toehider I have no idea, but not that.
dodgrblu so what would you like me to do with this information that you have provided to me?
I dunno, I wasn't giving you information, I was commenting in a public forum.
dodgrblu how many things are you not expecting in public forums?
Arjen brings me to here =D
Got here because of Ostura

Me likes, me likes!

Ayreon brought me here
This song kinda feels like a much more long winded and eloquent way to say 'ok boomer'
My guitar teacher is apart of this band
This is awesome man.....
