my piggies usually always wheek at dinner time, piggie dinner time is same time as humans dinner time and boy do we know about it when the veggies don't appear soon enough for them. We tap the bowl too , or sometimes don't announce anything and waft the veggie smell towards them to see who notices first! One of ours looks a litle bit like your Pedro! Such characters!
My loudest piggie is my deaf piggie. I use specific whistles for the herds and for her I use a gentle blow of air over the top of her or certain finger taps. She goes from out cold to full wheek before I am even done. It is amazing how well they can learn when food is involved. I wish my fido was so motivated.

Hey, Sarah! As always, I love your videos, your piggies, and you. You give great advice and you are such a good piggy mama! My 3 girls squeak a lot, and LOUDLY! They squeak when a plastic bag rustles (or paper or even foil). They squeak when I am going to eat. They squeak when any other hoomans come around. And they give specially loud and squeaky squeaks when my grandson's bus lets him off and he comes in the door...they want their grass from outside and he is usually the collector! He is 13, autistic, and their squeaking makes him feel special, important, and loved. Oh, and the smallest of the girls just squeaks whenever she thinks she should get a treat or a snack. So, of course I oblige with a pea flake or 2 or 3 for each. They eat them out of my fingertips, they will stand up to get them. My youngest piggy, Zoomie, sees me coming with the plates and she stands up looking frenzied like she's climbing the side of the fencing and then runs ahead of me to where her plate goes. Now the other 2 are starting to do that, also. Wheeeeek!🐹🐹🐹🐹
My family's two guinea-pigs with their cage in tha kitchen... The just loved lettuce (from the fridge). They would squeek as soon as anone opened the fridge (where the lettuce came from...). Some evenings our mother told me I must have had to have forgotten to feed the guinea-pigs in the morning: "No, I didn't!" "But they told me the hadn't had anything to eat, for ages...!" "Mum!!! Who do you believe in when it comes to that?!! Them (the guinea-pigs) or us?!!!"
My mum was the person in the family who was least happy to get any pets at all. Nevertheless, sha couldn't not feed the piggies this and that when she was cooking and cutting vegetables... The guinea-pigs started to squeek as soon as she would get the cutting-bord out. She would even talk to them (especially when she wasn't aware anyone was listening...) and say things like: "Hey! I thought you were vegetarians. You don't even want this!!!" (When she was cutting meat or fish...)
I don't have guinea pigs, YET! My parents are going through stressful times, with my dad in Cincinnati 4 hours away. These videos are so helpful for trying to convince them to buy me two!

The rustling of the plastic bags fresh veg is stored in is what always got my pigs wheezing loudly from two rooms away - without any trying involved. They just realized on their own that plastics bag sound usually but not always meant they were about to be fed fresh food 😀 Love how many different and interactive sounds they make with each other’s and with humans.
I don't have pigs anymore...but my little way to get them squeaking was to do a little whistle so they knew a treat was coming..they would go bonkers...great vid.
I have a sound that I make meself when it is feeding time. But they already start squeaking when I rinse the veggies 😏 So everytime I rinse something, even if it isn't food for them, they start squeaking 😂 And once I had a baby boy with the name Nobbynobs. On my terrace I have made a little relaxing corner for the piggies. So when the weather is fine, I put them on the terrace and they make their way to the grass for eating. So the rest of the herd was on the grass and Nobbynobs stayed behind alone on the terrace. He started squeaking very loud in panic, until Cupcakes (the leader) came back to comfort him. Then Nobby started popcorning. The funny thing was that Nobby (after a while) made the sound just for the fun of luring Cupcakes back to the terrace. Still miss that little naughty boy.

We give our piggies a little "warning" before veggie time by saying "nam nam" - thats when they start squeaking. Then we open the fridge, and they start squeaking louder. They are on their loudest when we tap their glass bowls together, they go crazy. They know their veggies are getting closer. Oh, the anticipation! One time I forgot to give them their veggies on their designated time and they just started squeaking by themselves. The internal alarm clock is there, allright! They are funny creatures!

My girls, Cookie and Chestnut respond to veggies, forage (from Haybox) and hay seeds, even for fresh selective naturals grain free food. What’s funny is that if there’s chopping of veggies in the kitchen, they also wheek with excitement then, not whether the veg is for their hoomans or them.
Oh, where to start? Our girls recognize my wife’s voice, our foot steps in the hall, our talking about them while in the other room, even flushing the toilet ( bathroom is across the hall from the piggies room). Our girls wheek a lot-and yes, in the afternoon when my wife gets home from work they go nuts cause they know she’ll give them snacks.
I've been looking for this sound on the Internet. I would luke to use it for an "time to start cocking"-alarm, for myself... I haven't found any ½ as loudly squeaking guinea-pigs! But thous souds li the ones I remember... It woudld motivateme to start cooking even for myself... ;)

Ours are rescue guinea pigs who are about 2 years old but pretty much from week one of having them, they have got used to when their feeding times are and will squeak to remind us. In the morning for their fresh food and at tea time for a bowl of grass x

One of my piggies is a rumbler and never squeaks unless he's scared but the other is vocal whenever we go to the cage and we've only had them 10 days now. We can't wait to start getting them out but we're waiting for them to be confident enough to come out of their cage on their own ❤️ we leave the doors open whenever we are downstairs so they can and will have the full livingroom (not looking forward to the cleaning up but worth it for our kids to see what it means to be good a pet owner) ❤️❤️❤️
When the Alexa alarm goes off in the morning, our two GPs will call out to us from their room across the hall. If we tell Alexa to snooze, they will start up again the next time she "speaks". When they spot us through the open doors getting up and moving about, they get really animated. Mornings are one of their favourite times of the day.

They don’t bother when it’s hay or pellets but veggies 🥗 is a different matter entirely of course. Talking of unusual piggy sounds… have you ever heard a piggy chirping like a bird? It’s really very odd and unusual and sounds just like a little bird singing!! I have just experienced it once from Truffle early one morning when she was very young and it was still dark so I think she may have been lonely or scared or a bit disoriented. 6:00 yea, it's better to snap your fingers or something that is YOU based, not bowl/plate. It's tough to do food witholding from pigs cause they just starve themselves like doofuses, but I had a pig that would run to the other side of the enclosure everytime I walked up to it, so I put a little vibrating motor on the far side. went to my regular approach and just sat there doing nothing while the pig stood on the other end. Then made the far wall BZZZ by em, and the pigs ran to me and found that my side was "the safe side" only a few repetitions and I disconnected the buzzer

My Julius would wheek whenever I opened the fridge door. And I mean EVERY time I opened the fridge. His enclosure was within view of the fridge so he could see me opening the door. I'd only had him a month or so when he learned the carrots lived in there. LOL 😁

Mine usually have their dinner at 7.30 at night at the weekend but when I am doing classes on Skype I finish at 8.30 and my classes are in their room and boy do they let me know their dinner is late
My 2 piggies (Apollo and Artemis) know the time they get their veggies better than I do XD Artemis is the main talker. They let me know that I'm too slow at getting their salad. Also, bags rustling gets them excited too. Hay bag, chip bag, some shopping bags...they either get excitable and run towards the sound or start demanding food from whoever made the noise
My 4 squeak so loudly the moment they hear someone on the stairs. As they are indoor pigs and stay in during winter so we pick grass for them and their veggies which they've learnt stairs = food. I'm not joking, my door is closed all the time and you can hear spazzy scream the loudest sometimes lol
I'm so sad, my piggys don't squeek at me... They hate me. I am the monster coming to eat them as far as they are concerned. I usually can't even see them as they are hiding under the hay😭
Don’t give up - taking can take weeks, months and sometimes longer and as all piggies are different, there’s no set rule for any piggy - I’m not yet a piggy parent but have studied enough now (hours and hours watching SDs alone!) to know that the time and patience you need is what makes piggies a potentially tricky animal to adopt but also, with the right care, hugely rewarding. Follow the tips on Squeak Dreams and Little Adventures and from Saskia in LA Piggie rescue and you will bond more with your piggies ☺️
My piggys scream from 8 am till 8.30am when I give them there veg then they start again at 7 pm for dinner thats normally grass from the yard lol but they also scream at any bag or the fridge door being opened lol

My girls go crazy when they hear the vegetable peeler! Whenever I'm cooking for myself and my partner and we're having carrots, I give them carrot peels. Now every time I peel anything they think it's for them!
My older guy doesn't really do it, he just complains a bit, but nothing loud But the two younger guys just keep screaming, they come to the front of the cage and yell at me.. At every tiny sound i make, it doesn't matter if they got everything they need, there could apparently always be more
I just got a 2 month old guinea pig 2 weeks ago and I started off with a few bad choices like picking them when they ran, will thst damage me bonding later on?
Is it possible that store bought Guinea pigs come from less than ideal breeders where squeaking is never adequately reinforced or attended to . . . so they stop squeaking since it is a useless tool?

I have 4 guinea pig girls. 2. 4 month old babies and two 1 and half year olds. One of the babies can't wheek. She opens her mouth and air comes out but no whistle. Even though she can't wheek she can make all the other sounds, is it possible for a piggie not to know how to wheek. Her sister can't stop wheeking and wheeks all the time. My other older pigs are normal. I took the babies to the vet and he can't find anything wrong with them. Can a pig be mute? Also I didn't know at the time but the babies are part abyssinian part peruvian. So I'm not sure what's going on or if it's normal. Can anyone please help me.
My pigs sometimes let out an airy type of squeak, with little noise and more breathing sounds. They are perfectly healthy, so I don’t think it’s an issue. If your vet says that they are fine, then it wont be a problem.
I need some advice I just got two female Guinea pigs last week at 8 weeks old they are very skittish and hide lol usually I will go to them later when I’ve put food out and then dishes are empty . but today they haven’t eaten what I put out to them I live in a block of flats and sound proofing is terrible the neighbours above me made a lot of loud noise today and I think it’s really scared them out can someone give me advice plz I’ve moved food near to hidey hole their in

Hi Sarah, I need help. I want to get a fleece hay rack, but I hear bad reviews on it. I woold get a hay box but I just don't have space in my cage. Do I anyway get the rack or the big box?
You should have space in the cage for one please get a bigger cage (saying that I don’t know how big it it though) I just put hay all around on the floor of there cage I do t think it’s a ‘have to’ thing
Hi Sarah! My long-haired guinea pig (Bailey) has a big knot by her bum. And I'm a bit worried! I have a pet brush and a comb that I use but when I try and carefully and gently brush out the knot she squeaks and runs around on my lap! I don't know what I should do...can you help me? thank you!
Sorry to hear Bailey's got a big matt! They can go unnoticed but if you give her a regular trim down there they shouldn't happen 😊. To get rid of it now the only way is to cut it out, it will be too painful to brush out. Try do it as gently as you can with safety scissors, or clippers if you have some and can use them safely. You basically need to avoid pulling on the hair at all whilst you snip it away, this is what makes her squeak and flinch away. Or it might help if you can get someone else to hold her 😊
Is he otherwise acting okay and not showing signs of being poorly? Still enjoys his food just as much? Sometimes also piggies loose their squeak as they get older, they still try, it just comes out a little raspy!
Feed them :) Unlimited hay, good quality pellets and fresh veggies. Feeding around the same time each day can also mean they don't squeak for food when they know it's not time yet.
@@SqueakDreams Thanks, it was just a joke cos we got one particularly vocal lady. She squeeks for the door bell, toilet flushing, anyone talking, backdoor closing, rustling of food baggies, someone sneezes, cat meows, next door dog barks, someone starts a car outside, she just super vocal. I think she's just a natural singer. We totally have all pellets and daily veg regime in place cos we love our ladies. We spoil then TBH.

my guinea pigs always run around and squeak in the morning! they are 100% my alarm clock! i have this gate at my door so my dog won’t get in, and whenever they hear it open, they squeak! they usually squeak during cage cleans, because they know that right after that is veggies!
My Julius would wheek whenever I opened the fridge door. And I mean EVERY time I opened the fridge. His enclosure was within view of the fridge so he could see me opening the door. I'd only had him a month or so when he learned the carrots lived in there. LOL 😁
Our piggies wheek every morning when I get my kids up and ready for school they know it's veggie time or around noon when it's cage cleaning and new fresh hay it's adorable 🥰

Mine usually have their dinner at 7.30 at night at the weekend but when I am doing classes on Skype I finish at 8.30 and my classes are in their room and boy do they let me know their dinner is late

My 2 piggies (Apollo and Artemis) know the time they get their veggies better than I do XD
Artemis is the main talker. They let me know that I'm too slow at getting their salad. Also, bags rustling gets them excited too. Hay bag, chip bag, some shopping bags...they either get excitable and run towards the sound or start demanding food from whoever made the noise
My 4 squeak so loudly the moment they hear someone on the stairs. As they are indoor pigs and stay in during winter so we pick grass for them and their veggies which they've learnt stairs = food. I'm not joking, my door is closed all the time and you can hear spazzy scream the loudest sometimes lol
I'm so sad, my piggys don't squeek at me... They hate me.
I am the monster coming to eat them as far as they are concerned. I usually can't even see them as they are hiding under the hay😭
Awh - it can feel this way when guinea pigs are still relatively young, but with time and taming they will improve loads!
Don’t give up - taking can take weeks, months and sometimes longer and as all piggies are different, there’s no set rule for any piggy - I’m not yet a piggy parent but have studied enough now (hours and hours watching SDs alone!) to know that the time and patience you need is what makes piggies a potentially tricky animal to adopt but also, with the right care, hugely rewarding. Follow the tips on Squeak Dreams and Little Adventures and from Saskia in LA Piggie rescue and you will bond more with your piggies ☺️

My piggys scream from 8 am till 8.30am when I give them there veg then they start again at 7 pm for dinner thats normally grass from the yard lol but they also scream at any bag or the fridge door being opened lol

My girls go crazy when they hear the vegetable peeler! Whenever I'm cooking for myself and my partner and we're having carrots, I give them carrot peels. Now every time I peel anything they think it's for them!
My older guy doesn't really do it, he just complains a bit, but nothing loud
But the two younger guys just keep screaming, they come to the front of the cage and yell at me.. At every tiny sound i make, it doesn't matter if they got everything they need, there could apparently always be more
Mine squeak when they here the plastic bag the veggies are in and when I walk in the room.
I just have to say "hello girls" and they all start weeking! They are pretty quiet inbetween food times though.

Is it possible that store bought Guinea pigs come from less than ideal breeders where squeaking is never adequately reinforced or attended to . . . so they stop squeaking since it is a useless tool?
My pigs are very talkative, but they don’t always wheek- sometimes they do, but it’s inconsistent

I have 4 guinea pig girls. 2. 4 month old babies and two 1 and half year olds. One of the babies can't wheek. She opens her mouth and air comes out but no whistle. Even though she can't wheek she can make all the other sounds, is it possible for a piggie not to know how to wheek. Her sister can't stop wheeking and wheeks all the time. My other older pigs are normal. I took the babies to the vet and he can't find anything wrong with them. Can a pig be mute? Also I didn't know at the time but the babies are part abyssinian part peruvian. So I'm not sure what's going on or if it's normal. Can anyone please help me.
My pigs sometimes let out an airy type of squeak, with little noise and more breathing sounds. They are perfectly healthy, so I don’t think it’s an issue. If your vet says that they are fine, then it wont be a problem.

I need some advice I just got two female Guinea pigs last week at 8 weeks old they are very skittish and hide lol usually I will go to them later when I’ve put food out and then dishes are empty . but today they haven’t eaten what I put out to them I live in a block of flats and sound proofing is terrible the neighbours above me made a lot of loud noise today and I think it’s really scared them out can someone give me advice plz I’ve moved food near to hidey hole their in

Make sure there's plenty of hay in their hideys too, they should be fine 😊 but you can get them out for a health check if you are worried.

My piggies make low purring noises one of them rips the food (like lettus or fruit) and just won't let my other piggie have any i cut up the food so he has food himself

Haha, so, mine are in my kitchen, so the poor things Wheek whenever the fridge opens... Lol. 80% of the time, even if it wasn't snack time, i can't resist those lol squeaks, so they often get treats!

You should have space in the cage for one please get a bigger cage (saying that I don’t know how big it it though)

Hi Sarah! My long-haired guinea pig (Bailey) has a big knot by her bum. And I'm a bit worried! I have a pet brush and a comb that I use but when I try and carefully and gently brush out the knot she squeaks and runs around on my lap! I don't know what I should do...can you help me? thank you!
Sorry to hear Bailey's got a big matt! They can go unnoticed but if you give her a regular trim down there they shouldn't happen 😊. To get rid of it now the only way is to cut it out, it will be too painful to brush out. Try do it as gently as you can with safety scissors, or clippers if you have some and can use them safely. You basically need to avoid pulling on the hair at all whilst you snip it away, this is what makes her squeak and flinch away. Or it might help if you can get someone else to hold her 😊

Feed them :) Unlimited hay, good quality pellets and fresh veggies. Feeding around the same time each day can also mean they don't squeak for food when they know it's not time yet.
@@SqueakDreams Thanks, it was just a joke cos we got one particularly vocal lady. She squeeks for the door bell, toilet flushing, anyone talking, backdoor closing, rustling of food baggies, someone sneezes, cat meows, next door dog barks, someone starts a car outside, she just super vocal. I think she's just a natural singer. We totally have all pellets and daily veg regime in place cos we love our ladies. We spoil then TBH.
it would be a lot easier to hear the bad squeak if you didn't speak over the entire thing.
