It was their time to be on top (for a while). As is the circle of life with all things, besides, did you expect those great players to remain young? I am surprised at you and your thoughts.
As a West Indian in my 70s, I am glad and proud to have noticed their climb to fame - even in their decline. The cricket media will remember those glorious matches when they gave us palpitations of heart, sweaty palms and elation. So grow up people and choose your words carefully. They will be remembered, and so will you and I.

West Indies were the best cricketing team during mud 70's to mid 80's 🏏. But now they are not upto that standard..
Andy Roberts, Michael Holding, Joel Garner, Colin Croft, Sylvester Clark, Melcombe Marshall, Courtney Walsh Courtly Ambrose, Viv Richatds, Brian Lara were exceptionally talented cricketers during that time...

In 1997 they were white washed by Pakistan too, when they still had world class players Like Lara, Chanderpaul, Hooper, Walsh, Ambrose, and Bishop. Pakistan white washed them before Australia and South Africa when they still had a formidable side. Very interesting that you didn't mention it. Reflects bias, bias that may have lead you to miss it, even if it's not deliberate.

Blogger you need to stop telling lies, because the franchise cricket. Does not do anything towards the wi cricket at all, T20 cricket just came in the 21st century. So what you are saying it is not true, because wi team fall to Australia in 1995 at Sabina Park in Kingston Jamaica,I watched the test match from start to finish. So what you are saying about franchise cricket,it is not true at all. Because it took the wi team 27 to win a major world title, so you need to get your story straight blogger. Because most of the people who played in the franchise cricket, they are not apart of the wi official team. They are disregard players them whi is considered,as test materials. It is mostly people are just jealous of the amount of money they are making, because the wi team is playing county and Sheffield shield in England and Australia also south Africa,ok.

Let me challenged this blogger comment, because what he is saying about. The wi team it is not true about some of the things, he is saying, because franchise cricket just came the other day. So what he is saying about the franchise cricket is drawing away, the wi best players. Which it is not true at all, I been watching the wi cricket more than 60 years now. So what this guy is saying, it is not true at all, because over the years.
The wi team is playing county cricket in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and, Sheffield shield 🛡 in Australia 🇦🇺 back in the 1960s . When the wi team was beaten by the Australian team in 1975/76 series, there was no franchise cricket playing at that time more than the county cricket and. In 1995 at Sabina Park Kingston Jamaica 🇯🇲, when the Australian beaten the wi team to becomes the number one test in theworld. There was no T20 franchise cricket was around as yet, so if you don't know what you are saying. Then you shouldn't come on social media saying something, which you have no idea of what you are talking about. I watched that series in 1995 when the, Australian team beaten the wi. By winning the series 2 to 1,so blogger stop talking things what you don't know about. Franchise cricket just comes in the other day, so you got to stop saying that. The wi team is no good for the longest time, the downfall of the team. It started a very long time, because of poor selection of the players them. That is the downfall of the wi cricket over the years and, it still continues as I speak. Because of the biasness of the little islands them, want to control the cricket games over the years. Which those players does not rise up to the international standards, that is the problem blogger. I am living in the region and knows what is going on, overs the years. Anybody who you hearing you talking about the players them is going to franchise cricket, they are only jealous of the players them money. Because most of the players them who played in the franchise cricket. They are discarded players which is dropped from the wi team for years, cwi management is only. Trying to recognize those players, when they are doing good in their league cricket. Cwi management them is also envious of the players them money, when they abandon. The wi team in 1978 in the middle of the test series against Australia, because they were offered more money 💵 to play in the Kerry Packer series in Australia. When the entire team resigned, from the test team only one player named Alvin Kalicharran remains. So blogger you are not from the Caribbean region, so you don't know what is going on. So all the cyber bullies them out there can now take me on, because they are all biased about the players them money, that is the whole bottom line and. They are not talking about what they did in 1978,but they are talking about these guys did nothing wrong. More than trying to make a living, because cwi organization is not giving them any games to make some money and, they haveto live too,ok 👌.

Though I don't reside in that region I am following West Indies cricket for nearly 45 years. I agree with you that inconsistent selection and inter island rivalry are among reasons. I wasn't harsh but I think the decline started not in 1995 but after1983 world cup. Packer era showed how West Indians could be lured by big money. The rebel tour to South Africa are examples. The board is paying players peanuts. Getting into the West Indies team is now a passport for playing in franchisee cricket. Do you think Nicholas pooran is only good for hit and giggle cricket that is T20. I don't think so. He is good enough to play Test cricket and so are many mercenaries. At the end of the money matters and lack of it is killing cricket in West Indies.

Well I have been watching cricket for more than 65 years. The WI team of the late fifties were really wonder cricketers. I have watched test cricket in India as early as 1958. WI produced the grt 3Ws( Weeks, worrel, Walcot), the 3 S's (Sobers, soloman, Smith), and subsequently the grts like Lara, viv Richards, Richardson. Hunt, Holt, and many others. But now WI team is relegated to the LAST POSITION. The reason is that WI board is cash trapped and is not able to train cricketers though WI have enough talents. In India cricket is flourishing because the BCCI is stinking rich and the youngsters are attracted to cricket. Wish WI comes back as they were in the sixties

@@indianallways5720 In 1958 I was a schoolboy so I know what you are talking about, when Sobers scored 365 not out at Sabina Park against Pakistan 🇵🇰 and the test match draws. With all your long knowledge of watching cricket from 1958, I was a schoolboy at the time. So I am not saying that I did fully understand the games, until later on in life. Anyway you are still straying away from the subject, that the franchise cricket pulled away some of the wi best players them. Which is not true at all, so telling me that you are watching cricket from 1958. I could say the same thing, but I was a schoolboy in those days and. Not fully understood the intricacies of the games, you can watch the game as a little boy 👦 and, not fully understood it ok.

@@indianallways5720 When you are going to say that the wi team has regulated to the bottom of the cricket, which is not true according to what the ICC organization is doing. They just came in with rankings to get rid of certain teams, let me give you a scenario. The wi team won the T20 cricket wc by beating England twice to win the championship trophy, also beating india, Pakistan and Australia 🇦🇺 and. During the next world T20 wc competition, the wi team haveto play to be qualified. As the defending champion in order, to play in the competition. Where the wi team should be automatically qualified as the defending champion. I am just using this as an example ,to show you. That the ICC organization is messing up the cricket, because what you are saying about. Certain players, they never won no major championship trophies competition for the wi team, the last time they won the wc. Was in 1979 and lost to India 🇮🇳 in 1983 final, and it took the wi team 25 years. Before the younger generation them could break the spells, with better batsmen and bowlers. Players like Gayle, Samuel's, Taylor, Fidel Edward's, Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo, Sammy, Simmons, Russell, Narine, Pollard just to mention a few of them. Who won the championship trophies competition 3 times, more than the great wi team in their Haye days. So you need to looked at some of those quality players, they are better than all of those former players you are talking about. They does not have enough runs and centuries, to be qualified as great players away from Brian Lara who is, the leading runs scorer for the wi team of all times. Followed by Chanderpaul 2nd and Chris Gayle 3rd, all the rest of batsmen is way behind in terms of runs and centuries. I am just sharing certain information with you, to let you know these info about the wi team, ok 👌.
