    I like these 3D printed shoe series. it may be worthwhile to fill the midsole in one of your upcoming projects. just to make them somewhat wearable like your first blue slide. the last few have just been structurally unsound 😅

  • @Dexterp91
    @Dexterp91 Před rokem +6

    You can change the infill settings at different layer heights. Set the bottoms to a denser infill and then the tops to a lighter percentage. Also try adjusting the wall thickness in the same manner. That should fix your collapsing side walls and can soften the tops.

    I’m gonna reiterate an idea I posted on the last 3D printing video: What if you 3D printed each individual part that makes up the Jordan 1 and then assemble it like the actual shoe?

  • @DKFX1

    To edit the first file and make it hollow/wearable what you have to do is slice the shoe in two pieces over the middle inside the CAD software. Then use some spheres/polygons to bool cut the superfluous material away.

    • @DKFX1
      @DKFX1 Před rokem +3

      Afterwards you join the 2 pieces together again using another boolean.

    Great vid Seth, greeting from Costa Rica! You should try to thrift some size 9 Jordans, disassemble them, model individual pieces, customize as you wish you are great at that. Then use the “thrifted” soles of the dissembled shoes, so you don’t have to print those parts, and proceed to attach all the 3D modeled customized parts, for a 1 of 1 Seth Jordan 1. That would be a great series or crossover of your series in the Sethverse😂

    Seems that for now, 3D printing for existing traditional sneaker designs has to be done in component parts. Otherwise, best to just create a design optimised for the 3D printing technique. Definitely impressed with the Asics effort shown earlier.

    In solidworks, you can use a tool called "recognize features" which should enable you to turn an STL file into a solidworks file. It doesn't work 100% of the time but it's worth a shot.

  • @t77chevy
    @t77chevy Před rokem +1

    use modifiers so you can have different infill percentage at different spots in the model , Prusa slicer has this option , and I'd do sample parts of just a section of the sole to see what is the ideal infill so your models don't keep failing for this

  • @aizayahhills
    @aizayahhills Před rokem +2

    I feel like you should have 3d printed the pattern of the shoe and used flexible filament for the shoe pattern and make the thickness like the thickness of leather. then you can glue the pattern together or melt/weld them together. With a pattern you can make YOUR size and it would be easy to print since you can fit multiple shoe panels on the tray. I feel like this is a great idea that you should try out. I also feel like this would be a crazy good video idea!

  • @mrnlce7939
    @mrnlce7939 Před rokem +1

    You should get a 3d scan of your foot and ankle to digitally test the fit first. Also you could then use the foot model to subtract the interior of the shoe. Eventually when you model your own shoe it will help then also.

  • @lap87
    @lap87 Před rokem

    You really need to look into tuning your printers for speed, getting a bigger nozzle size etc.
    Also you have the ability to put modifiers on the object in the slicer so you can tell it to increase infill/print solid in the parts where it matters.

    Seth! Remember you can add your creality printer to your Prusa slicer! It's a much better slicer then creality's version of cura, and it will allow you to to make a lot of options with it! Like making the sole have more infill then the rest of it!

  • @digital0785
    @digital0785 Před rokem

    I'd recommend stop using creality slicer.. you can use cura (what creality is based off) and use modifier blocks so you can change print parameters based on what intersects with it . I'd also reduce the support density so it doesn't print as much it'll make it easier and speed up the time.
    also a misnomer about flexible filaments you can use retraction I'd suggest doing some tests

  • @thoxin942
    @thoxin942 Před rokem

    Hey Seth. Wanted to share a couple of things about 3d software. Firstly I would highly recomend for you to switch to either blender or fusion 360. Blender is ideal for complecs organic shapes often found in shoes but can definatly be challenging to learn. Whereas fusion does have some features for organic modeling with the sculpting workspace but is definatly more restrivtive. Fusion is increadibly easy to learn on the surface level and has a free hoddy version that is mostly good enough for all hobby use.
    The file you couldn`t edit is a mesh file which all stl files are. They can be converted into solid bodies in fusion 360 and probobly solid works as well with a variyng degree og success. When looking for files online i would suggest looking for other file formats if you wish to edit the body. Obj or simular works well. Lastly I would suggest for you to expriment with printing in other orientations. With many shoes you can avoid having support on the inside by printing them at a 45 degree angle toe to heel. Since the upper of the shoe will be at an angle as well. This would altso allow for a bigger shoe to fit into the same print area.

  • @dimman77
    @dimman77 Před rokem

    I don't know how well Solidworks handles .STL files, but I think Blender will handle them better.
    With booleans you could make a model of the physical space for your foot (easier than modeling the Jordan), 3d overlay them, and then do a boolean subtract from the other model. Boom, instant hollow shoe.
    Idex dual extrusion with a soluble support might be better for inside the shoe/toe area.

    I love watching these videos but wow 5 days to print I'm soooooo glad I switched to SLA printing, my Jupiter or M3 MAX could print that 6 or 7k and it would take around 15 to 17hrs max!
    There are just so many problems that can crop up in 5 days from power cuts to tangled filament and everything is wasted not to mention the clean up.
    If I was planning on printing more trainers I'd definitely pickup a phozon mega 8k and some flexible resins as there are quite a few brands to use.. Chitubox pro can slice for changes in resin so you can use strong and flexible for the sole then switch to something more flexible for the upper parts but you could print an 8k flexible shoe in around 7hrs!!

Use a more stiffer filament for the Sole, and Ninjaflex for the rest of the Shoe. And if you want extra then have laces and the tongue separate, you probably have to make your own shoe tho.
