Hello, first of all, a BIG shout out to Dave! even BIGGER thanks for making the review for the RaceGear pedals, the review is very honest, nice, and constructive. I am very sorry, Dave was not able to get in touch with me while setting the pedals due to a fault directly on my side. The visible EMI issue is for sure not our standard and we are always doing our best to deal with it. Thanks to the review we have understood the calibration is still not end-user friendly and the software will be redesigned in this manner including the implementation of a step-by-step guide inside the software - this will take for sure up to 2 months of work. Next to it, as a short-term workaround, an end-user-friendly video for calibration and basic functions of the software will be produced and published within the next two days, including the update of the manual regarding more details around correct grounding. As long-term corrective action was decided to step off from 3D-printed cover for electronics and exchange it for a proper "steel look" solution, the idea was actually once on the table already, progress will be restarted and pushed forward. In the end, we would like to again thank Dave and all others for their great support and constructive feedback.
It's great to see that new players enter the market that really care about us sim racers. Of course, we all want affordable "perfect" products, but good things take time and experience to be made. Good luck on your journey, and maybe I'll consider your pedals once I am in the market for a new set.
We have added a video with a quick pedal calibration (czcams.com/video/3Bx2gZ5v580/video.html), which also shows a 'normal' oscillation. This oscillation is not in any way artificially reduced by software and FW interventions commonly used by other manufacturers (which degrades the pedal response).
We have also added the correct grounding of the electronics to the manual so that oscillation is minimal. The entire manual is available for download on our website.

Hey guys. I own these pedals for almost two years now and I’m so delighted that RaceGear finally gets the recognition it deserves.
I have nothing but good things to say about these pedals and the company itself. Martin is super helpful and willing to help with anything you’d need and he is a very quick guy behind the wheel himself.
As for the major points in this video. The software might not look pretty, but it does everything I needed it to. The jitter surprised me too at first, but it got better after earthing the cable provided and the RaceGear software makes it look worse than it really is when you check the controls in a sim.
I have the performance pack with all sorts of springs and elastomers and it was really enjoyable to test out different configurations. As for realiability, I have tightened some bolts and applied a little bit if wd40 once in two years and pedals are tight and very silent.
Back when I purchased them, there were no reviews and hardly any mentions, so it was a leap of faith for me but I bought it because I wanted to support a local business. But I’ve never regreted my decision, pedals still far exceed my skills and I cannot imagine how pro you’d have to be to need anything fancier, realistically.
If anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them, send pictures or whatever. Take care and thank you Dave for this video.
Hi, I am one of the creators, thank you very much for such a words - the experience u describing was always aim of the company.
@@martinsirotek Thank you for your hard work. I think these pedals really show what RaceGear was aiming for: No marketing nonsense, just a well done product with money spent where they are really needed. I would deliver these around CZ/SK myself :D díky moc Martine
Thank you, děkuji! I am at your service any time.@@michalnemsak7886
Dave you are a real champion mate. I trust your opinion in sim gear a lot higher than others. Stay true and genuine mate. It’s what we love about you
Ok, so once again, this design is well known within DIY community and was probably originally posted on a 3h long video on yt by Michal Balonek from Czech Republic. I’ve made those pedals myself and I’m using them for over 2 years now. They are very well done and I believe they were originally designed based on Heusingveld Sprints couple of years ago. I’ve made only brake and throttle and it costed roughly euro 250 so I have no idea how they are making money on the ones you were testing. You can’t beat that price for sure! I’m not sure what are they using as a controller - if it is something done on their own but I’ve used Leo Bodnar controller with 3d printed enclosure as well. I also use 20kg and 120kg load cells. DIview can be used to calibrate it.
Now to the main point - regarding the fluctuation - it is due to EMI. I had that, and it was significantly visible on throttle when pressed to a particular degree and held steady (on a zip tie). What you need to use in such case is aliexpress $8 “usb isolator” and then the levels stay exactly where they should. EMI is very complex problem and can be caused by low quality usb cable (not shielded) as well as some AC noise if there is power supply for particular device. All servomotor drivers (which in my case are 7 - DD plus 6dof motion) need to be connected to power via AC EMI filters as otherwise there is huge risk of having lots of strange issues like the fluctuations seen on this video or usb devices disconnecting for a brief moment. I highly recommend those “USB isolators” but keep in mind that it is not always resolving the issue - in my case it solved issue with pedals as well as with wind simulator that is connected to power by AC adapter. But I had issue with steering rim which solved only after AC EMI filters were added. EMI sucks and it’s really hard to pinpoint where the issue is and only experience over time helps unfortunately.
Hope this will help others in case they encounter similar issues. 🫡
Thank you mate. I'm sure that will help folks with the same issue 👍
Hi, I am one of the creators, I would say EMI is a topic for all kinds of electronics, in our case, we have done a few revisions of the electronics as one step with additional parts to eliminate EMI. Next to it - loadcells are custom-made with shielded cables by default in factory industry standards. We are utilizing USB cables with ferrite cores supplied by the Czech HW provider. The overall cost is possible only due to the absolute min-maxing supply chain (maybe can also mentioned, that stainless steel is also from the Czech Republic), and at this stage, the product is not about money for us. And yes, as Dave said in the video, there is some cost saving in the electronics in general. In other words setting up of RaceGear pedals is not super user-friendly yet and that is the tax for high performance/cost-effectivity pedals. Nowadays, we can provide all clients with quality of signal with oscillation under 1% (out of 65534 points) - we speak here about real signal not hidden by software recalculations as in some other cases. Sometimes the troubleshooting has to be done - openly said for 10% of new customers - the solution is in 90% different/ correct grounding spot, than other root causes, like grounding of the PC, grounding of the old DD1s, or rare cases are simply damaged electronics from not careful handling of the package - even tho we pay for fragile delivery. In the case of Dave, I am super sorry and mad at myself that I have had an issue with my personal company email and missed Dave messages asking for help. I hope we will fix this, as I am very happy about the feedback regarding the feeling from the brake, and I can see the resolving of oscillation can realistically improve driving "1%" further, and in the top split, every % matters. To finish - RaceGear is ready to assist to all the clients 24/7/365 on a mobile phone - +420727955926 - WhatsApp - signal, or info@racegear.eu is also monitored on a daily basis. Its mobile phone number is to me directly, and emails get to me. Next to helping with the troubleshooting, I can also assist with the particular pedal setup for a particular game, having the highest experience in iRacing where I have a professional esports agreement, and with that comes a lot of knowledge around SimRacing and Hardware, which I like to always share. As we are still a small company, there is simply time to invest in our clients. To finish this comment, beginnings of the RaceGear are publicly available on the internet - Kickstarter. As an improvement activity, we will create a user-friendly software guide video published on youtube for the correct way of calibrating, as we can clearly see it's not so easy to understand - there is sort to say opposite math in it.
Great video Dave
Once you got to the software issues i noped out. Great review, dave!
These look like a nice set of pedals Dave.
Mechanically they appear to be well made and should last a long time.
I think the same as you about the controller box and while it shouldn't matter what it looks like it will probably will effect someone's choice on buying these pedals or not.
Not keen on seeing the outputs jumping around but it may be something they can address.
👍
I had the same jitter with the Sim-Lab pedals. Took weeks to run through all the tests they wanted me to do. Eventually, they sent me a new controller box and it resolved the issue.
Regarding the other pedal readings moving when you press the brake pedal, I had the same thing happen when I set up my old Logitech G29 pedals and shifter to use a Pi controller. I ended up having to use two separate controllers because I couldn't shield the interference. Not that this helps, but that appears to be whats going on with yours.
For calibrating the pedals, I have two curve profiles. I load the one without any dead zone to calibrate the pedals in a sim, then I load the other with slight dead zones for each pedal just to be sure I get full on and off at the pedal extremes.
It might be just me, but I don't care too much about how they look, as long as they do the job well. The only time that looks matter to me is if I'm trying to choose between two different ones. Just m2c
i just got my heusinkvelds, this upsets me a lot ! watching the whole video, i might be ok with mine xD
I feel like these are just modified/re-badged SimJack pedals. In fact, everything is starting to look like knockoff Heusinkveld Sprints. Unless there's a specific feature you're looking for in a brand, just go with the one that's most affordable that has the features you want.
Looks not too bad for the price, but for a little more, i'll say the VNM pedals offer more in terms of value. Anodized aluminum, ball bearings on all moving parts, lots of adjustability, an aluminum controller box, upgradable dampers and less jank software lol. The Lite version is out now too for around the same price.
VRS. Just get them. Best bang for buck.
Heusinkveld sprints for a few quid more! I know what I’d be choosing!
I'm a Heusinkveld partner, but a 3 pedal sprint set with baseplate is going to cost you the best part of €900. Not just a few quid more 🫤
@@davecamm sorry I should of said used! £760 new.
Load-cells are electrically noisy even when nowhere near a source of RF. That said, did you earth the pedal controller? Other manufacturers use "windowed root-mean-squared" values in their software and more rarely in the controller itself to smooth the data out. However, this introduces lag - something I have found in well known pedal sets.
If you want to smooth them out, you have the option building your own LC amplifiers, adding an Arduino Pro Micro, and choosing the level of smoothing yourself. Alternatively, connect the LC's to a LeoBodnar LC controller. That would be another £100 by the time you have paid for delivery (UK) and boxed the board.
LeoBodnar. A name I haven't heard in years!
good grounding solves that noise
Have you tried the simforge pedals Dave? They are around the same price point.
What bracket are you using to attach the baseplate to your rig?
Dave will you ever be doing a review of the cammus Lc100 just really appreciate your opinion and would be interested in them. I know you did the cammus C5 and thank you for the review as well
I've actually got a set and the C12. I've just not got around to testing them yet 🫤
I look forward to those videos or a combined one with the c12 and lc100 test as interested in both of them. Keep up the brilliant content fella.
I wonder if the output is simply a ground issue. This is pure speculation coming from my experience working with small electronics, and especially similar sensors in cars.
These look like generic Ali Express sim pedals but at €412 is not bad considering they supply base plate etc plus do not have to await shipping from China, I recently got the Simjack throttle and brake set for £152 all in shipped and can attest to the robustness at 3mm stainless steel throughout.
not to mention all surprise taxes and other duties on imports outside of the EU nowadays...
@@HazewinDog You just need to do your homework before ordering the limit to the UK is £135 prior to tax and the simjack two pedal set was £127 with tax added the total was £152 and that's what I paid in total, I plan to get the Clutch later but it's only £59 with a few pounds postage if I remember, So the full set with 3 dampers will be just over £200 all in you cannot go wrong at that price, The only thing I have had to source is a few die springs and elastomers just so I can fine tune them to my liking, I do also plan to mod them by adding Dayton pucks and amp for feedback which will probably stretch the total cost to just shy of £300 😉
@@celtshaun1427 I know. They recently removed the limit here. So now you always pay VAT and import duties
I want to upgrade from my tired, used Fanatec CSR Elites at some point, but seeing my pedals are a bit dodgy right now, I want to stay far clear of any possible upgrade that has something dodgy going on with it, whether it is pedals with a fair amount of play, pedals that are difficult to physically configure, or electronic/software issues like this interference or whatever it is. Seeing that interference-like behavior actually makes me worry it's a hardware/board design problem that would require a redesign. I hope I'm wrong though!
Hi, I am one of the creators, kindly please, read my answers around here in the channel. I am 100% sure we can provide you with a perfectly working product including the full assistance of setting it up. And the option of returning with a full refund within 14 days is of course available - as european union standard.

@@FirssenSimracing looks good, though they barely undercut Fanatec's CSL Elite V2 (if at all, after shipping) and don't come pre-assembled
That software for the pedals looks really sketchy, but on the other side if they work so well I guess they are a good deal.
My guess is that they should be compatible with the HE control box and software like the simJack pro...
This kind pedals makes difference than one 170 dollars from Fanatec or Monza?
100% 👍
Out of curiosity, maybe I missed it, why do you no longer using the O-Rouge seat?
I took deliver of the P1X Pro which had the seat. The plan is that the O Rouge will be going on another rig 😁
@@davecamm ok I’m in the US and in the market for a new seat. Torn between the o-rouge, a seat with parts that can fail and I can’t try vs a sparco Evo qrt x. But, I don’t like to sweat lol. Thought on if just pointing some fans at you can mitigate back sweat?
Not sure of advantage to LC gas or clutch? My car gas and clutchbpedals dont feel like a LC.
A loadcell is simply a way of converting a mechanical force into digital for a computer just as a potentiometer. A load cell can still be cheap enough to use as an alternative on brake and gas pedals just to keep it consistent in terms of design and build. A loadcell should not "feel" any different if the mechanics in the pedal are designed to be used with one.
The only reason they are used mainly on brake pedals on sim racing equip. is to emulate the force near the end of travel. Can still be used for gas and clutch to simply do the same as a potentiometer
Its amazing how much stuff is coming out these days. I started my journey 3 years ago, and back then i felt Fanatec was the shit. But now so many are joining the party.. Happy days! Thank you Dave!
Yeah because everyone is using the Grabcad pedals design...
@@brianfrank4156 yeah? even for the all the wheelbases coming out now?
@@HazewinDog Well yes. Not LITERALLY every single pedal set, but many. ESPECIALLY among these cheap ones.
@@brianfrank4156 Note how I asked about wheelbases. Rene_Bo was talking about simracing hardware in general, and they are right. There are so many great products out there now. Not just pedals, but also wheelbases and shifters. From the high end, to the low end, and from handmade to manufactured. It's a great time to be a simracer, even if a lot of cheaper pedal sets are based on the same design.
Hi, I am one of the creators, thank you for your comment! I would like to again highlight our history is publicly available on the internet, and we are very honest about it. But I have to say, that RaceGear pedal set is NOT DIY set, a hundred plus construction details were redesigned in order to provide the described experience by Dave - again I am so happy about the experienced feeling. I can add another maybe interesting thing, we are utilizing also one small part which is very hard to find in our all direct competitors, and that is the special plain bearings in the back of the all-pedal main axle (in the case of brake the part after red spring implemented to stainless steel) produced by a Germany company utilized in real car industry pedal constructions (just different implication) - the reason for this upgrade was that particular part was simply from any other standard or even super high-quality 3D-print not able to last long-term, we are speaking here about slow wearing over the time, where the standard user (not no lifer, or grinder) will probably never brake it, but the performance of the pedal will go naturally down. Another case could be the utilization of a brake pedal for 120kg straight away - again common solutions do not work for this part. As the counterpart of the main axle (stuff holding elastomers and spring) - this is the same story, standard stainless steel axles wear over time - in this case probably nobody will ever brake it, but the performance of the brake pedal goes very slowly down. By these two small details, I just wanted to show, that there is much more in the pedals than visible on the first view, aim is the performance and the key for great performance in the SimRacing is as low "x factors" as possible from the hardware point of view.
Dave so if i had a choice, these pedals or simlab xp1 ??
Xp1 👍
There are still way better pedals than simlabs pedals. For simlabs price they aren’t worth it. Got vnm pedals, simagic p1000 or p2000
Looks like their using just a reskinned version of FreeJoy (which is an open source control software). I don't think there's anything they can do software side to fix the interference. That's definitely down to the controller.
Hi, I am one of the creators, and as stated in other comments, the software is made by exactly the same person who developed FreeJoy as we do cooperate with him, and you can be sure it's not only the re-skin, it's modified with added functionalities directly for the SimRacing, as live switching of the pedals config while driving and so on. And can be done multiple things on the software level to "fix" the interferences - heavy filters can be added, and totally different math in the manner how visible axle to the user is calculated including all kinds of tricks in this. Here it's simply the EMI issue that has to be trouble-shooted and solved or faulty electronics as stated in other comments with the following explanation.
Just a heads up 3D printing doesn't save money unless the units sold is very low. 3D printing of something similar to what the control enclosure looked like in size would only need a sales amount of maybe 1000 units before real tooling would be more financially viable.
Looks like they are using cheap Arduino controller, hence the signal noise. Other pedals providers give possibility to ground the controller. What's worse is that signal flickering happens on applying the pedal input as well, not only while resting so playing with curve is worth the same as applying deadzone
They also stole the design from Grabcad lol
also software looks like a stripped version of Freejoy

I think theyre going to struggle in the current market. The chinese stuff has popped up now, like Simjack and Simpson which are very similar for a third of the price. Maybe it came too late.
How do they compare to Heusinkveld Sprints?
Brake is much better, the software not.
