The one with the best acceleration & top speed was Toad but he can be pushed around easily if you do get hit or run into someone, Bowser is next best - his acceleration is slow from 0 to 30km/h but than his acceleration is brutal plus he can push anyone around & can't be pushed around himself. The highest top speed is accomplished by pulling off a drift turbo while you have a star running. I always considered Mario & Luigi as the worst because they have the worst acceleration overall & can be pushed around easily by stronger character's easily purely because it takes so long to reach their top speed.
