It looks like a lot of the original orange trees on this land are gone now. I used to buy oranges from this place, that was around 1991. :)

The Holiday avocado tends to be bigger, the skin is a little lighter and smoother than the Hass. The Hass skin turns a lot darker when ripe. The citrus trees are so fruitful.

Awesome tour for avocado lovers. It was great to see the graft union and the rootstocks up close. Those rootstocks are massive. I have a bacon but I really hope it doesn't get that big hehe. Mine is 8 years old, about 3 metres tall, in a climate similar to San Francisco.

I got a Nabal tree from a local nursery in Southern CA.
I had never seen one in person so I had to have it.
Its 3 foot tall and starting to bloom except I am culling its small fruit until the tree is at least 5 or 6 foot tall.
I am always excited to see any Nabal avocado tree when you mention it. To me it might as well be a Rock Star!
Can you talk about it more in videos and how to pick them and such? Because i hear its hard shelled and probably easy to mess up and harvest prematurely.
And to keep raving, 😂 sorry!!
my Nabal is thick branched and I am considering to graft Reed onto it. Scions are from a potted nursery Reed I got recently
My thinking is that in those years the Nabal takes its rest, the grafted Reed willl be there to whisper to its Nabal host " it's Okay, you raised me, I got your back!".
I think I read somewhere that Reed is a child of Nabal. And that in some ways Reed is a perfected Nabal.
    Keep up the avocado videos
I am always quite curious about the larger fruit varieties, their history and who was involved in bringing them to the public.
    Aside from that I hear
Oro Negro from Florida is also something to also rave about? And it changes color when ripe! How cool is that? The way its described makes me think it might be as good as some top rated California varieties. But is it yet available in California? Have you any experience with that variety
    Thanks

Great! I get excited about Nabal too! I'll try to do videos about when to pick them. I love the history of these varieties too. I've never tried Oro Negro avocado.

They're coming for our backyard fruit. Did you hear the announcement today that in Redlands, the agricultural officials are going to go into people's yards and strip their trees of fruit ? They say it is because of a fruit fly.

The avocado you were questioning thinking it was a hass looks like a hass skin wise but the stem needs to be coming out on an angle. stem on the one in your hand was more straight out the top. I don't know what it is but I don't think it's a hass.
