"space:bass" is the genre-spanning duo of Christine Hoock, a Classical double bass soloist, and the DJ and sound artist Umberto Echo, supported by the pianist Barbara Nussbaum.
We explore multi-media art with live electronics and video. The double bass, played in the Classical manner or otherwise " processed " live, moves within the surprising soundscape of electronics.
Our concert concepts incorporate elements of Classical, contemporary and popular music and combine them to create a sense of suspension. Resistance or support? Sound fullness or distortion? Discords or the common ride to the sun?
Free improvisations, contemporary commissioned and original compositions and different arrangements are part of our unconventional repertoire.
