Great video Nigel. These veg specific videos are a fantastic addition to your normal updates and much appreciated 👍
Hestia is a great Brussel sprout variety which I have grown for several years. So good that the deer who jumped the fence into my garden in December cleaned them right off. Didn't even leave a thank you note! My wife saw a coyote hanging around the fence shortly afterward.
Hi mate. Finally got to leave a message. Great video. Step by step right through explaining it all. Perfect.
Cheer mate....much appreciated 😀👍

Thanks for constructing such well thought out videos Nigel. Very professional, instructive and possible to follow. Very kind of you to share your valuable experience with us beginners at the tender age of 66. Look forward to He next one. Very helpful and timely.
You are welcome Pat, you are only a year in front of me 🤣👍

Brilliant new series, bullet proof for wannabe allotmenteers, thsnks
Hello Nigel. Nice to see you wearing shorts. Warm sunny days to come. Another very informative video. Cheers. Pete.
Take care, keep safe and keep smiling.
Cheers matey......those shorts days seem a long time ago.....will they ever return? 😂🤞

Excellent, informative video. According to Charles Dowding, the no-dig guru, there is no problem with doing the "gardener's shuffle" on no-dig brassica plots if the soil is rich with compost.
Thats good to hear Paul 👍. My no dig guru is Mick Poultney, I must ask him what he thinks 😀
🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
@@MuddyBootz I would be interested to hear what Mick says.
Great Vlog Nigel. I'm sure there are a few people on here will find these series of video's very useful. Well done.

Thanks Nigel. .I've been a subscriber for a while now and this new series is great .I'm going to take a note of your dates and grow with you although not on such a grand scale ...looking forward to what's next
Another great video Nigel. As an enthusiastic amateur gardener, and one of your keenest subscribers, I find the content from seed sowing to harvest most informative and very helpful. I look forward to seeing many more (do you have a list of what we can look forward to in the future)? Yours is, as far as I am concerned, one of the best on CZcams. Another channel I used to enjoy was Mike Hurdiss, but he hasn't posted since 9th August 2020, hope he is ok?
Hello Robert and welcome to the channel 😀. The next one in the series will probably be parsnips, I have filmed most of my crops in detail last year specifically for this series. Mike is a good friend of mine. He spends quite a lot of time now on his other hobby, photography. He has a good channel on Instagram displaying his photos.

🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
I had a good giggle when you lost that seed, Nigel! Thank you!🤣 I wondered why you went from 94 to 60 but I see you held some back! I really like that you're following the progress!! I need root trainers! Thank you! I love hearing the birdsong in the background, it's been a while! This may be a disadvantage to me to have a bed I've never grown in .. I'll also need to know my PH levels.. Thank you! I suspect the shuffle will be my only option as they will be rototilling! .. Thank you! How far apart are those bulb planter holes for the brassicas, Nigel? Looks like about 18-24 inches? Yes? A shame I won't know my soil to know if it has club root! Fingers crossed, it does not! Your cabbages are gorgeous!! I got so much out of this my friend! Thank you very much for the vast amount of knowledge you've shared here! Into my reference bookmarks you go to add to the others! It's greatly appreciated!! Have an awesome weekend!!💚
Eagle eyed Chris.....the stray seed, well spotted!! It came just on cue 🤣. The plants are 18" apart, and same again between rows. I am sure you will be able to pick up a cheap pH meter from Walmart. Many thanks for your regular support...it is much appreciated 😀
🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Now that's something I've never been accused of! LOL.. Not exactly an "attention to details" kinda gal, but, you brought it up... and made me look!! 😅😂🤣 It was funny, and yes, right on cue! Thanks, I'll check Walmart for my list, I'm sure they will! Thank you for the awesome videos (and answers)! They will be instrumental to my growing season, as they always have been! (even when I was off YT)! Cheers, Nigel! Have a great weekend!💚@@MuddyBootz

Learned something new again Nigel and I am having a go at a puple cauliflower, can't grow white ones so why not......lol.
♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
Hi Terry good on you 😀. I have this psychological barrier, I cannot eat anything that strays from conventional colour...purple carrots ☹️🤮. Maybe its time to wear a blindfold when eating 🤣
🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
@@MuddyBootz it was given to me by a fellow plot holder and we enjoyed it and they even bought me some seeds to try, potted them up from chitting yesterday.
I’m new your channel. Loving this series :)

Fantastic. I've never managed to get anything from the brassica family to grow for me. Very informative Nigel makes me want to try again. Glorious harvest. Thanks for sharing 😊👍
Hi Nigel, really enjoyed this video. I'll be re-watching this in a few weeks time. We tend to grow our brassicas through the winter here in Sydney, so it will come in handy. Must say I learnt a lot out of this series. Definitely the white butterfly is our biggest pest and I lost half my crop last year even though I had them netted. Thanks mate and keep safe. Cheers -Keith 👍😉
I love these videos! It’s so rare to come across a start to finish full tutorial. So thank you. If you get a chance can you do kale, peppers and toms x
Hello Sarah welcome to the channel, many thanks for watching 😀

I really appreciated watching this again Nigel, so well presented. I’ve left it late but I’m about to try sowing some more brassicas, ie cauliflower, cabbage and sprouting broccoli. Here’s hoping... Thanks again.
Another great video full of super info loving the series Nigel looking forward to the next one i do not have the room in my garden so i only do sprouting broccoli as it is my favourite .
Great tip on numbering and writing down what they are. Will definitely be doing that! 😊
Excellent system you have and great video 🇨🇦

This is great as always Nigel, plenty of tips and hints. Did the litmus test at one point in the garden which came up as extremely alkaline - figured out afterwards it was the water I used... Lol. Have a good evening there, Hugh 🙂👍🏻🌿🌿
Thanks Nigel, that was great. I really appreciate the huge amount of time and effort you’ve put into this series. I’m not a beginner but I still have a lot to learn in order to get the best from my garden. All the best to you from New Zealand.
Hi Nigel As a well seasoned Gardner even so there’s always something to learn which I do with your channel so thank you for that. Just a thought I had you probably already know this but live in Rurel as I do I find that you can buy lime cheaper in a bigger sack from farming suppliers may be something you may want to try .Or pass on to others many thanks .Kind regards William
Hello William, we have a local company nearby TFM, however there prices are very similar to our nearby allotment shop 👍
🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Your garden looks like paradise on earth! Thank you for such a quality content video. I never knew about clubroot until seeing this, we're located in NW Tasmania Australia so not sure how widespread it is here. We do get cabbage moth but i do have a few bushes of land cress planted at the corners of my beds which may be helping to keep numbers down. I've yet to grow an edible cabbage so will be taking a lot of notes for ongoing years. Purple sprouting broccoli and kale/mustard greens are about the only thing I've managed to produce so far from the brassica family. Thanks again Nigel, keep up the brilliant work! -Izni
This was great, I have grown plenty of brassicas in the past but it's really nice to see how someone else does it and get some tips. Great video.

Hi Nigel, been a keen gardener all my life, as well as having a garden, i also have an Allotment where I grew all my Veg. Fruit & Flowers. Dabble a bit in the Show Veg/ Flowers. Am a qualified National Dahlia Judge and judge a lot of of local shows. Have only just joined your channel and find it most interesting, as they say in the gardening world, you learn something new every day.
Thanks for the video we have just got our 1st allotment got allot to learn this one was real helpful.

Nice informative video Nigel,, I chop rhubarb leaves and stalks into the planting hole to help prevent club root,, along with a good handful of well rotted home made compost and a sprinkling of blood fish and bone ,, never used lime and I get great results,, I water the planting hole too,, wishes, Lisa
Hello Lisa, that is a new one for me 👍. I have heard using rhubarb leaves when planting potatoes before 😀
🌻Nigel.............MuddyBootz Allotment🌻🌻
Thanks for making it a true "step by step". It took you a full growing season to put this video together. I'm a gardener in Maine USA. Never had much luck with common brassicas. Kale the exception. I was not aware that they could tolerate deep planting of the seedlings. I do this with tomatoes.
Another great video mate from start to finish. I've been trying to find a local supplier for the Bathgate peat free compost but no one has it. The vid was thoroughly enjoyable. All the best Nic 👍
Great tips and advise in these how to videos Nigel. I will try using lime this year and see if I can get a more reliable crop. Take care 😊
Really helpful and informative, thanks
