    In this review we will closely inspect the new Stealth props by Master Airscrew, specially designed for DJI Mavic Air.
    The main benefits of these props:
    - 100% compatible
    - reducing the noise by 3.5db
    - increasing the flight time by 12%
    Whether these values are correct or not - you will see in the video. For any comments or ideas - reach out to me using the comments section below the video.

      Do you still use master aircrew props? Have you had and problems after a year? I know that this is an older comment, so you may not have your mavic air anymore, but im just wondering because I'm thinking of getting them for my mavic air, and I have heard of some cases of master aircrew props shattering in mid air, and in turn destroying the drone. Thanks

      @@firemannss one more question, Have the master airscrew props for the mavic air ever scratched the drones body? Someone said that it happened to them, although I don't see how this makes sense, because the props creat lift, so they should flex upward, away from the drones body. Thanks

  • @KyleFields
    @KyleFields Před 5 lety +10

    I think the frequency of the noise is an important noise. It's super obvious to the public when they hear the really high pitch of the stock props.

  • @aldotanca9430
    @aldotanca9430 Před 5 lety +20

    Decibels are logarythimic measures, so in purely physical terms (sound pressure) even a few decibel can be described on paper as an impressive -50%. But in reality, noise levels are expressed in decibels for a reason. Our brain interpret sound intensity is a logarithmical way, to an extent. For a sound to feel half as loud as 66 decibels to an average human, that sound will need to be 33 decibels. In physical, linear terms, 66db corresponds to a sound pressure 45 times (!) what you get at 33db :D
    So, yes, 3db less that 60 is a very small thing to our ears, and it becomes even less significant at a distance. If some people perceive that as a more significant difference, this is probably due to the difference frequencies produced by the two types of propellers. This can of course be very relevant, but it is not because of a significan reduction in noise level.
    Coming to battery life, many reported a significant drift in medium to high wind with this kind of alternative propellers. That 13% or so of extra bettery life in static hovering with no wind could well be eaten up entirely, or more, when flying the drone in windy conditions, which admittedly is a very common situation for scenic shots.
    So, people who fly in that conditions will get potentially less flying time compared to using the standard propellers.
    So, it would seem that it is a case of usage type.
    Shots in calm air which benefit from a marginal reduction is sound levels, or a perceptible difference in noise quality, will benefit from using the alternative propellers.
    But people doing scenic shots with more than a breeze might be better off saving themselves 20 bucks, while possibly getting a longer flying time. Also, situations in which wind could rise suddendly in complicated situations, such as shots over waterbodies. Propellers which drift in high winds are not advisable in that situations.

      @@TechMishka Guys, please please please do your homework. A 3 dB shift represents a 100% difference in sound energy. That's what logarithmic means, therefore 90dB + 90dB = 93 dB, so 3 dB is a huge difference (100% in relative loudness in fact). A difference of more than 10 dB is not noticeable to the human ear, meaning if you have a source that is 100 dB, you cannot hear another source that is 90 dB or lower. Also, critically, sound pressure reduces in open outside (free field) conditions by about 5 dB with every doubling of distance; so 90 dB at 3 ft = 85 dB at 6 ft and 80 dB at 12 ft and so on. Therefore distance from source the microphone is critical. Nice vid though.

    • @rsilvers129
      @rsilvers129 Před 4 lety +1

      Aldo - this is not correct. For a sound to be perceived as half as loud, it needs to be between 6 and 10db lower, depending on the frequency of the sound. So 56db is half as loud as 66db. 1 dB was selected as 1dB because it is the least amount of change that can be perceived at all. 3dB is significant, but not a big deal. Still, seems like I will buy these due to quieter and longer flight.

    This vid really is quite convincing... unless, like me, you have purchased the props and tried it yourself. Yes, the sound is a bit less disturbing, as the frequency is noticably lower. But unfortunately the drone does not fly as smoothly as it does with the OEM props. Actually, it is shaking like hell, even if you adjust the gains. The gimbal of course tries to iron this out, but it just does not look right. I certainly would not recommend to purchase this props, although the noise of the Mavic Air really is quite a problem. In-flight stability for me is more important.

      I get yaw drift when applying throttle too hard on real estate shoots. But in the air it’s so much quieter it’s worth dealing with a little drift.

  • @cornishcactus
    @cornishcactus Před 5 lety +2

    Sounds like the props are higher pitch or something similar to move more air at a lower RPM so it's not so much that's it quieter overall but that the RPM had dropped for a given hover and so the annoying buzz.
    However this will reduce reaction time as the spin up will be slower which explains their faults with drift etc.
    This can be confirmed with a RPM check in the hover, the MA props will be slower.
    It'll also kill flight time if you like to chuck it about a bit.
    The motor faults are likely an amp overdraw as they will suck more trying to spin that higher loading prop up.

      Literally came here to make this comment! Noise is only one factor. Coming from 3D piloting heli's - sure idle up uses more power - but the stability and ability go up. I figure the "magic" here is a more aggressive prop that pushes more air at lower RPM so the motors don't need to spin up as fast to achieve hover. A good test would be to put it at 100+ ft and fly around with stock vs 3rd party and I assume you would see less stable flight and less flight time. But - to each their own! Fly safe o7

      Well dumbass me… I know enough about aerodynamics that I should’ve looked at this before ever bitching about it. Master Airscrew contacted me and asked me to photograph the QR codes on the back of the boxes of the two sets of propellers that I got. Sure enough, one of the sets was all the same propeller, not two sets of opposite-rotating propellers. I had apparently gotten a box of properly marked, but improperly pitched propellers due to a manufacturing error. I installed the other set that was correct, set the gain to the recommended 80% in all fields, and sure enough these are a definite improvement in terms of flight times and a lower-pitched sound. The flight time advantage is well worth the price, even though they are advertised as quieter. The company definitely stepped up, owned the problem, and took care of this now happy customer. It’s nice to see a real American company in action, and I hope these guys go far.

      titiwiti2001 - you get the error if you don't set the gain right.
      And if you fly higher - that different sound frequency makes a big difference.
      Maybe you can check if MA have return policy and return them back.

      Tech4All I did set the gain right. I got these first thing and they hadn’t added the notes about the gain until I submitted the error report. They will take a refund but I still get the motor error even with the gain set correctly. It isn’t as frequent but I still get it. I was really hopefully of these but I just don’t think they are worth it.

    Just stick with the original propellers..... all this other stuff is a waste of money & time....& most of all, Why do you wanna stealth fly anyway. Sounds like you have something to hide..... if it’s surly stealth, & what are you trying to do that you need to be incognito? Hmmm....... I’m just saying

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 4 lety +1

      They make the sound more ... acceptable. Nothing to hide - but if we can keep it quieter, then why not?
      But got your point and respect it! Cheers, Terry

      none of them are ‘really’ quiet. Loud at best when 20 feet off the ground

      Well - nope. But that's a serious issue with reviews and articles nowadays - you never know how honest they are in reality. I simply like these props, and enjoy the v2 even more.
