You're not confusing it with the Xiaomi Xiaoai are you? That one has a battery. This one does not.

You're confusing it :)... Maybe check to see you're activating to many Assistants at the same time. Mine paused some times when it was activating a Nest Mini, Google Pixel, Samsung phone and a Tablet all at once. I stopped the assistant from listening on 2 devices and no problem since. One of the devices was answering first but it was on silent and I didn't hear it and the other devices were just waiting for a while then going back to standby/listen mode

But only has Google Assistant built in so you will need to install Google Assistant on your iPhone to connect that way but it will still connect for playing music without it.
