It's good they do mention it's sad. That no matter what goodness this brings and how rude the grandma is and doesn't need to be in the children's lives.... it's still something to mourn and grieve.
Setting boundaries is a superpower.
Her mother sounds like a narcissist, entitled & demanding, thinking that her daughter has to move mountains to please her. One thing I know about narc mothers is that they constantly demand attention because they need to feel included. They hate that feeling of being left out, as if they don't know how to be self-sufficient & independent. So they become codependent & emotionally needy. She gives you that feeling as if you owe her something because she is your mother. I believe in respecting your adult children's boundaries. I believe there has to be an equal amount of respect, and if you cross the line, you can't blame your adult daughter for cutting you out of her life.

I'm gonna have to get this guy's book. I think I innocently have issues with others boundaries.

Sounds like good parents though shielding their kids from that toxicity.
"Your boundaries, Oh, Lord, have kept me in pleasant places!" When we "jump the fence" or dig under it to get to what looks like "greener pastures" we will always wind up in an unpleasant place.
There are 2 sides to every story. But both Dave and Dr Cloud are flippin' funny!!! Travel agent...frequent flyer miles... 🤣
I'm always so suspicious of what the other side would be when somebody calls in and it's such a one-sided story

Agreed! I wanted to hear Dr Cloud give advice, not Dave Ramsey get so full of himself he keeps trying to give his own advice instead.

Grandparents sounds like broken people who would like to be a part of their children's lives, yet do not understand how to effectively make that happen. Parents, be encouraged to work with your parents in this state, yet hold to your boundaries out of love both for them and your kids

Both 'Boundaries' and "Necessary Endings" are probably at your local library by this point, but you can buy 'Boundaries' in paperback for $10 when the Dave Ramsey web site runs their sale, or a little more through Amazon.

I HATE this boundaries kind of stuff. This falls into the classification of Colossians 2:23:

This is feel good Christianity without the Cross. I just do not see how this boundaries stuff will lead towards sanctification.
I used to believe this too, but if you really listen to what dr. Cloud in depth teaches youd see the scriptural basis
I think you missed the point. It was not about harsh treatment of the body or sensual indulgence. It was about taking ownership of what is subject to your control. You should see part 1 too, for some context. And if you actually read the 'Boundaries' book you will find it is replete with biblical references, even if the video doesn't quote scripture constantly.
Should churches have boundaries in allowing Drag Queen shows inside a place of worship?
