Standards II Live in Tokyo, Japan 1986 Keith Jarrett - Piano Gary Peacock - Bass Jack DeJohnette - Drums For a playlist of the whole concert, go here: • Video
I end up listening to this tune almost everyday lol. The phrasing and dynamics of Keith's solo are just astounding to me. And there's so much energy in this performance! Gonna be learning from this solo for years to come.
True story. I once returned a cd thinking it was defective only to learn it was Keith making those horrible and inexplicable groans. He is still one of the greatest.
Many great piano players emerged in the 90's, after the BIG 3 dominated the scene for a long time (HANCOCK,JARRETT,COREA). Many classical composers also emerged after the late 19th and early 20th century. But I keep going back to either early periods and thank God cannot explain why! :)
Jarrett's whining noises are really intense on this. He should put some duck tape over his mouth when he plays. I love his music, but his vocal noises are so annoying at times. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. His rendition of You've Changed is my favourite trio ballad.
I understand your take on Keith's vocal noises. However, he is so immersed in the composition, his voice is like a composing instrument for him. Have you ever listened to Oscar Peterson? Same thing.....both great pianists!!!!
Jack Mc Maybe you should put some duck tape over your ears,Jack! Whatever you do,DON’T listen on headphones...Jack’s squeaky drumstool will ruin the song.
Fantastic bass!
This man is in the ensemble of the greatest jazzmen ever. Period

4:13 if the light that reflects off a crystal chandelier could speak, that's what it'll sound like. Keith is a master.
