That's Cool and All, but Gru is the most powerful being in the universe. First, according to the height of a Minion (which is 3.5 feet on average) Gru is 4 minions tall, which means he is a godly size of 14 feet tall. Second if any of you remember the original Despicable Me, you Know there is a scene when Vector kidnaps the three girls and shoots a series of heat seeking misses at Gru, he then dodge them all. According to the speed of an average ballistic missile (1900 mph) and the size of the missile according to his ankle size, Gru can perceive and move at such a speed that the missiles only move 9.5 miles per hour, 0.5% of their original speed. Plus after this Gru punches a shark and it is paralyzed meaning its spine is probably shattered, to remind you it would require a force greater than 3,000 newtons to fracture the spine. That's equal to the impact created by a 500-pound car crashing into a wall at 30 miles per hour.

@@Kaygoooo No. Thank you to AMD for this open technology that we can use to our advantage, and quickly advance instead of being locked behind proprietary software that we may or may not like and have to stick with.
Look I understand that AMD may not be at the top of the game right now when it comes to GPU's, but you can not sit here and deny that this will be bad for the company or people. Its INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT that AMD is making something like this open for all developers to improve. There are tons of people who will always be able to optimize their drivers and settings better than AMD or even NVIDIA can do themselves and are more than willing to make changes to something like this to benefit gamers and people utilizing these applications.
I'm still rolling with a 1070 and the upgrade scene is a price nightmare right now. AMD just gave everyone a way to make their existing cards last a bit longer. I don't think this can be overstated while we're in the middle of a silicon shortage.
This was a real and effective way to provide relief to the market without regard for whether you're their customer or not.
It's a boss move considering the stuff nvidia is pulling.
All things considered… while FSR is leagues behind than DLSS, the fact that AMD is not only supporting their older GPUs, but even nvidia’s 10 series?
These past couple of years really shows AMD is the boss.
@@is_Ganxi Mind if I ask in what aspects it might be behind? My experience with DLSS 2.0 firsthand hasn't been that good, but there's a chance FSR might be better, considering it doesn't use AI and works on a frame-by-frame basis.

Yea it will help for atleast 4 years or so. If u want better image quality on ur 1080p screen, use DSR from nvidia control panel
Yes, and it also supports integrated vega graphics, even vega 3 gpu probably can play higher titles easily
Kinda wish you'd test with a lower spec, older card as well to see if there's a performance difference at 1080p
1080 upscaled on a highend card vs a lowend card should be the same
they basically input the same image to the same algorithm, so why shouldn't the end result be the same?
the only difference is the frame rate.

I'd like to see that too, but until then remember that it basically renders the game at a lower resolution and then uses little resources to upscale. Anthony said that 1080p Quality uses 720p, so if you set your game to 720p you will get a good idea for how well Quality 1080p will perform.

In my mind, AMD wins here just because of how open it’s going to be and how many different pieces of hardware you can run it on. Even if it turns out to be a failure, AMD still deserves major props for trying something like this.
Plus it's an open source so it will help the development. And anyway it's gonna be better in the future.
Just saw a dude playing kingssomething on a 750ti. Using fsr he on performance he got from 28 to 40 fps.
Performance is visually bad, i know but that extensive support for GPUs is amazing. Officially only 10 series nvidia are supported but in reality the older ones still work.

It 100% will be used om xbox series and ps5 and since its open source, ps5 devs will probably do magic, as they have always been doing.

Xbox just officially announced that they've just added officially integrated support for FSR on Xbox for any/all Xbox game developers.
Yep, and this may not seem like that big of a deal for a lot of people in the u.s, but for someone who lives in a third world country and can't even consider the idea of buying a good gaming pc, it's really incredible to know that I'll be able to make use of this technology on the series s I'll be buying soon.
@@guysidontknowhowtowritehel1220 FSR should help out MASSIVELY with getting a proper 1440p image output out of the Xbox Series S, which is also conveniently the lowest resolution you really wanna go down to with FSR 1.0 atm if "close to native" image quality is really important to you (which it absolutely IS for a mass market, plug & play games console).
And even if you only have a 1080p display, thanks to the magic of classic style super-sampling, a 1440p output is still going to look MUCH better on it than a plain old 1080p one. Why? Rendering at a higher resolution than one's display works kinda of like the absolute best possible anti-aliasing, MASSIVELY improving "jaggies" on edges.
@@Cooe. exactly, that's why I'm so exited. Just one thing though, if most games on the Xbox series s run at 1440p 30 fps would you recommend setting the fsr to ultra quality and getting around 45 fps, or would it be better to set it to quality and actually get to 60?
This smells less like CUDA v OpenCL, and more like GSync vs FreeSync. A marginally worse product, but universal, cheap to implement, and free to use.
I was thinking the same thing. one company who "cares about gamers" and clearly not money, charges extra prices for their amazing features.
Whilst the other who actually cares about gamers, does the same, not quite as well, but free for the masses. AMD the Linux of the gaming world!
Or PhysX vs Havok (or any other non dedicaded hardware accelerated physics engine). Or GameWorks vs AMD's open solutions.

similar to the rtx and non rtx video they did. They are using 4k footage, zooming in and showing 100x100 pixels to us, which we (at least I) are seeing in 480p or 1080p. plus youtube compression makes it worse.

I can only imagine that hosts that aren't in nearly as many videos probably read the comments even more because its not an everyday experiance.
As a side note, this is especially true for new hosts or hosts that are only in like one video a month. You can fully expect them to read every single comment, probably more than once, because it's such a crazy experiance to be filmed in something and for thousands of people to comment on you. So moral for the story, if you ever see a new host making their first video, it's an especially good deed to give them positive feedback in the comments. I love this, because FSR is on its first rendition, and is perfectly usable, imagine how much better it's going to get if it ages anything like ryzen, may not be as gorgeous as dlss, but it absolutely slaughters in terms of compatibility and sheer usefulness
it is still based on contrast so it wont improve much..but it will give a nice boost for console players who are fucking miopes and cant see the different from the couch anyway....and this is where the majority of adoption will come from.
Yeah, I would keep my expectations in check. I agree it can get better, but not much better. This relies on just one data source (the current frame) to upscale the image. There's just not much data you can extrapolate from one lower resolution frame. Unlike DLSS that uses previous frames, prediction calculations l, etc. That DLSS 2.0 is able to display very clean detailed textures, while FSR blurs them a bit.
I wonder if we'll see DLSS 3.0 next year with fourth gen tensor cores and 3rd gen RT cores on Lovelace GPUs. Will be interesting to compare both technologies for frame rate and picture loss with RTX on.

Would have been great to show super resolution scaling up to a resolution higher than native as an alternative to anti aliasing as well
Was also wondering about that, my 5700XT is capable of rendering most games at at least 1440p, but that looks bad on 1080p screen, would love to try 4K with FidelityFX Super resolution (ofc if it's compatible with VSR)
@@krystiano.610 VSR and FSR and CAS with sharpness to max and DLSS at 1080. An artifact fest.
@@scaryonline Well yea, you intentionally included additional sharpening which interferes with FSR thus causing the aforementioned artifacts. However VSR+FSR should look great. Other channels have covered it.

Thanks Anthony, Linus has been covering the Nvidia & TI alot until now so massive thanks!
This is really for gamers, & it a game changer!
Will be great to gaming handhelds,APUs and embedded SoCs
I was so hyped to Warzone DLSS 2.0 implementation, only to realize that it makes the game competitive unplayable with the obnoxious amount of shimmering, softness and loss of detail on big distances (which is very important for an open world game). I run on 1440P screen, even in upscaled 4K the conclusion is the same.
Why would you use this for an online fps? Like every game on pc you run the game at native res and turn everything else down to low and vuala, good perf and easy to spot tangos.
There's huge advantages to running higher frames on high refresh rate monitors
Port R6 Siege's DLSS 2.2 NVNGX_DLSS.DLL file into the Warzone folder and it'll either be fixed or improved greatly.
That is not on DLSS nor nvidia. Warzone just has shitty visibility, running at highest settings on native resolution DOES NOT SOLVE problems like poor reflections, glare, fog, and of course pay to win Roze skins that just make enemies disappear into nothing. This is all on Activision or Raven to solve, not DLSS.

It just needs to be in the game.

everyone, but his barber that is..........
I wonder when this tech will just be baked into drivers, rather than requiring game support
Depending on how it works, possibly soon or possibly never. DLSS for example requires certain inputs from the game engine that just can't be accessed without the engine being made for it. (But if you use a pre-existing engine like Unreal Engine you can use a finished plugin to implement it in hours.)
never - because it needs to be applied before the overlay is placed on top of the render. but also "immediately" - this is something you can easily inject in the pipeline before projection.
I like the way you think
the main issue is rendering the HUD on top of it
@@EugeneYunak That's true, however I do remember that by analyzing frame dump render commands, reshade (or SweetFX) was able to apply effects before postprocessing/UI rendering. So it could be possible to do with game specific driver pathes - but doubt AMD will implement it that way.

Bloody aweseome! Been looking forward to this! GO AMD!
FSR being able to potentially be used as a post process injection immediately makes it a compelling choice for me thanks to my penchant for playing heavily visually modded older games
It's kinda hard to actually see the differences when the pixel filter you're using in (I assume) Premiere seems to be adding its own sharpening when you upscale the footage. At 2:20, there's no way native 720p has those sharpening artifacts (black lines on edges). It'd be way more informative to see the two side by side without a resample being done by the editing software.
I don't actually know how to do that in Premiere, because I don't use it. But for example in Davinci Resolve, you could do the side by side comparisons as a Fusion clip, and set the filter to "nearest neighbour". You won't be able to see the result until you also disable SMR (smooth resize) and enable high quality rendering. But that should give you just a straight up scale of the pixels, no interpolation/sharpening done by the software.
So in conclusion, it comes to which will be here first: me, able to buy a new GPU at closer to MSRP value, or game developers implementing FSR into games I'll actually want to play...
i'll put 50 cents on the developers, lol.. with it coming to consoles i expect that list to grow drastically in the next few months since it'll definitely cut down on the development/testing time that's needed to try and get their games to natively support 4k60 or high resolution raytracing at or above 30fps on consoles.
@Brat Brosky It depends though sony and microsoft probably have their own implementations that theyll probably make developers use. Remember amds solution is free source so anyone could use it free of charge but money is money. If sony and microsft decide that their solution is better, the developer will probably use that instead. Amd only gives them the chips to use to make the consoles work ...the ones who pull the strings are sony and microsoft. Hell if they do use fsr it probably would look better on console than on desktop.

10:10 Here you can see Riley being rendered using the Performance preset.
I really hope this becomes a standard thing in all games
if it really is this easy to implement. i see i no reason not to have it..
testing this in Evil Genius 2, in 3440x1440, i have: 110 fps, but with highest quality, with fidelity FX, i get 150ish fps (200 with performance mode)
if i set the render scale to 200% i have 40 fps. but then, with the fidelity set to performance, i get 200 fps again. and highest quality gives 150 fps
it seems pretty impressive - considering its free fps. and in a game such as evil genius, there's really no fancy super detailed textures or trees full of tiny leafs etc. so it's less noticeable than in a game like Anno
Quality preset is shown twice in godfall instead of performance.
No balanced what shown but The titling was wrong
Great coverage Anthony! FSR will change a lot for budget gamers, even if for its compromises!
That's part of the idea! We want gamers to have a choice, and for some, that performance benefit is undeniable. We expect many to enjoy the nearly-indistinguishable Ultra Quality preset, while others will enjoy the performance presets for a massive boost to framerate.
