What's on the negative terminal? Normally there is nothing on the negative terminal with a crossover. What is usually done, is that the choke and capacitor is in parallel on + and nothing is on -. Take the capacitor off - and put it on +, like this. With the choke still connected, solder an extra wire on each side of the choke and connect them to the capacitor. That is a parallel connection. It should sound a lot better cos you will have even more bass and much more top-end treble. Use a 1.5 mh choke and a 2 mf cap on a better full range speaker (with a foam-rubber or cloth-roll surround) and mounted in a box.
Another good trick: Loosen two speaker screws (mounting the speaker in the box) and put a1/8' spacer in two of the speaker mount screws so the speaker is slightly above the hole at the bottom of the speaker in the box (and screw down). The small gap under the speaker will improve the feeble top-end treble from full range speakers and make the voice sound better and more "open" (not so "boxy"). And the treble is crisper cos you are hearing some treble from the inside of the speaker and it comes out the gap. Have fun.
Hey, the choke coil, should it have a certain number of turns for more bass? And would a power supply, like a battery perhaps, have an effect on bass/sound??
You def. want to pair your coil to what size speakers you are using because different coils produce different frequencies. Like 80 hertz, 100 hertz etc.

If you want better bass, parallel a capacitor of 220 microfarads instead of 47. The condenser in series will be left over, and as a last tip, a speaker with a paper cone does not reproduce the bass well, the mids do. Best regards.

The coil should be in series with the speaker and the terminal at which the coil is soldered to the speaker, one end of the capacitor should be soldered and the other end of the bi polar capacitor or a polarized capacitor observing correct polarity should be directly soldered to the other terminal end of the speaker.....It is a simple cross over to work as a low pass filter and mainly allow lower audio signals to be fed to the speaker....thereby increasing the efficiency of the speaker to produce more output at lower frequencies and have lesser sensitivity to higher audio frequencies....nothing remarkable about it for those who understand how low pass filters work.! .

Choke coil has some resistance so it reduce it volume significantly.
I believe u created high bass distortion. It makes it sound loud but inreality it has now power behind it

This could blow that speaker. The bass was already distorting. The speaker is not meant to play low bass and if you do that the speaker is being overpowered.
