If you want to move out of that neighbourhood the following day you just get up and leave.
Building a home is a liability especially earlier in life.
Build rentals, let them give you an income and cash flow, you can build a home later in life.

Acquiring a property i.e car or building a house etc...depends on lot more factors, to or not can't be applicable across each and everyone, 2 example:
1. You earn 400k, you can't buy a car because car is not a asset, sir the day you miss an important meeting because it was raining and you couldn't drive to office is the day you understand, that car is 1 of many reasons you earning the 400k.
2. If you can afford a good a home, it can be an asset how? Acquiring a home allowed me to reduced bills by close to 70%, as I could easy invest in sustainable cheap options around: Electricity, water and more important food production like milk, eggs, vegs and through all which I do sale extra for an income.
The term is if you can afford

Hi Joseph, don't you think that the aspect of asset appreciation should also be considered when evaluating whether an asset is good or not? My view is that we miss a point when we put all our focus on income generation.
...i think we confuse appreciation with liquidity. Income generation is liquidity enhancement. Buying a house is not. If you get sick today, you need to pay for the service now, you cannot sell a house to take care of an emergency no matter how appreciated it is. For starters, selling a house rarely happens instantly. ..
