Thank you! This program had more LAUGHS and INTELLIGENCE in ONE HOUR than all of tv network and cable programming had in the entire last year....and as Jack Paar would say, "I kid yoiu not"
I can’t imagine how Bill Maher must have felt walking into that lion’s den of comedy greats and having to do a stand up bit.
Steve Allen=genius.
Sid cesaer was my favorite
My idol Steve Allen.
This show is one of Steve’s best on the comedy show.
Thank you SO much for posting these. I’ve never seen these. I’d like to know more about the show, like how long was it on? Can you post more? Did the show do well?
It was made for the Disney Channel in the early 1980s. It was pared with Steve Allen's Music Room, another series made for Disney. There were only so many episodes made and I think it should have been a much longer series. I don't know how well it did on the Channel, but it certainly was popular with people who liked both comedy legends and newcomers. Ditto for the Music Room series.
Classic Steve Allen three decades after he pioneered this kind of show. Interesting that the comments back in 1984 reflected the demise of ethnic humor even then.
Comedy is good for you: Sid lived to be 91, Mort 94 and Shecky's still alive at 96. Steve died at 78 from injuries in a traffic accident. If that hadn't happened...
24:20 reminds me of Lou Costello!
Sid said it right " people are too sensitive "
Yipes! Maher bombed!😅
Always did in my opinion.
☺️👍
What the hell is that English "comic" doing there?
Enthralling program but Bill Maher really stunk the room up.
He's out of his depth.
He always does.
Actually, I thought he did very well in the presence of his comic heroes.
Bill Mahr wasn’t funny back then either . . . .
