Piano concertos from Beethoven to Brahms to Busoni and beyond are all indebted to the example of Bach in his Fifth Brandenburg Concerto, and its liberation of the harpsichord from continuo support to virtuoso soloist, in both the spectacular first-movement cadenza and the one-against-many dramatic narrative which marks a revolutionary break with the concerto-grosso model of collegiate co-operation.
Bach wrote the six Brandenburgs in his early 30s, while the majority of the works here were either written or compiled once he had moved to Leipzig in 1723. Taking charge of the music at a popular café, he adapted cantata movements and earlier concertos for other instruments, producing seven intricately worked pieces which traverse an expressive range from the high drama of the D minor BWV1052, to the equable dialogue of the D major BWV1054 (a reworking of the E major Violin Concerto) to the tightly wound pathos of the F minor BWV1056.

The tracks listed above as "Without Tempo Indication" should more properly be listed as "(Allegro)". In the Baroque era many times a tempo indication was not given, simply because it was generally understood what the tempo of a specific piece would be considering it's position in a multi-movement work and also the character of the piece itself. In the case of suite movements, the tempo was indicated by the name of the movement; an Allemande was to be played in Allemande tempo, etc. In the case of Concerto movements, it was generally understood that the first movement would be Allegro, unless there were a slow introduction (which would be given a specific tempo indication) or if the movement was meant to be played at any tempo other than Allegro.
This Bachâs music promotes spiritual uplift and awakening, and activates the human soul

Bom dia a todos. à fato. Ele mesmo escrevia: a Deus seja toda glória, e quem busca a Deus glorificar, recebe o retorno no tempo certo. Forte abraço do Brasil.

Good music for brain and mood Bac classical music

This can be played on the violin too. I used to do that. Very satisfying to play. Bach could play all the instruments he wrote for, to some extent. So he knew how to fit his music to each instrument. Great stuff!!
I downloaded this from Qobuz and, as I extected, they are wonderful. If you listen to a performance of works that have been so often recorded and you still find them exciting, then this means something.
Close your eyes and allow yourself to be transported..
Because there were also the many efforts of past major early music performers' groups, Mr.P-J.Belder & Musica Amphion's these performances have become so wonderful.
Now, I will no longer listen to the performances of past major early music groups.
For the record: The second harpsichord (BWV 1053) is in E major, not E-flat major as described here. A wonderful and exemplary set by some of our finest period specialists, led the indefatigable Peter-Jan Belder. tutti bravi! This is the best set since Leonhardt's classic one from the 1960s and 1970s (!).
Sure!
High praise.
Have you hear glenn gould interpretaciĂłn???

O melhor da mĂșsica!
IncreĂble mĂșsica para el alma
Thanks for the upload but I find his playing a bit robotic at times, the other musicians feel a bit directionless because of it, but still, thanks.
Como se siente esa percepciĂłn sutil? Se siente la misma plenitud cuando se toca y se escucha la mĂșsica como espectador? Soy un neĂłfito, solo curiosidad infinita y una insaciable sed por descubrir realidad, gracias feliz dia
Sublime sinfonia
Good stuff.
Most of these concertos are re-arrangement from his Cantatas , and earlier violin and oboe concertos.
I love it đ»
Thank you for your reply, all the best wishes to you all

Yes. The music of Bach is very uplifting and spiritual, but a commercial between each selection destroys those qualities! Get the commercials out!!!!
Get an Ad Blocker of course.
But it's baroque! If it's baroque, don't fix it...đ
