hello, Bagoum here, the Scriptor for the GasGasGas mokou script. it's been a while since I've seen this script. honestly, I came at this contest more from a math than a danmaku perspective, which is why a lot of it is so weirdly balanced. like that second card with the lasers was just me flexing parametric equations. and the third card, with the "simple" yellow and blue shapes, was actually based on a pretty difficult pivoting equation. (look really closely at the way the blue bullets move! that took me three days to work out!) it's a miracle that so many of them turned out playable... let's just pretend that card 2 and 4 didn't happen
it turns out that several people who played the game jam scripts ran them at 120-240 (?!) fps and had similar reactions. suimasen. I added a framerate autodetection feature to the engine. now the main menu will scream at you very loudly if your monitor is at a weird speed.
incidentally I didn't fix that bug, I just realigned the events at the end of the card so they wouldn't occur when the timeout hit~ the bug probably doesn't occur in the new engine versions anyways! probably!
since ajs brought them up, the scripts I made for the game jam are a kaguya script (www.bulletforge.org/u/bagoum/p/dong-fang-yin-yang-zang-kaguya-and-mokou-grill-yakitori ) and a yukari script (www.bulletforge.org/u/bagoum/p/kasen-and-yukaris-fateful-reunion ). other than that VSYNC marker, those scripts look nothing like this mokou one. play the kaguya one first!
hey, Foxigami here. thanks for playing my script, this was my first time participating in a danmakufu contest. i wish i spent more time on making the non-spells a bit more distinct and unique, but i had college classes at the time of making the script and i procrastinated to the last 3 or 5 days to make this script. but yeah, thanks for playing my script, you were one of the main people that gave me inspiration to get into game design and such. i cant wait to make more danmaku games and your feedback really is a nice motivator :)
Hey I just want to tell you that the spells in your script are really cool!
@@LushieTilde thank you. I based my spell design on eye illnesses I looked up on the internet. It was a lot of fun to make those and implementing geometric shapes with those patterns
Aaaa thanks for playing my script and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The reason the stars in the first spell fade in instead of having a proper spawning animation or warning is because I thought it looked way better and more thematically fitting. I gave each one a long delay before they actually get a hitbox to compensate. Unfortunately a star went under your hitbox and was very hard to see since the hitbox renders above bullets.
And the amulets during the second spell are anti safespot protection that aren't really meant to be dodged. It's something I sloppily added during the last few days to avoid trivializing the spell and it only triggers if you are too close to Nue (and by too close I mean like more than 100 units above the bottom xP). I do admit it's very cheapshotty, but since the script is very short and it has infinite lives I thought it would be fine.
Ohhh, it didn't even occur to me that the amulets were safespot protection. Honestly, I think you could've lowered the density on those and had it fire with every wave as a regular part of the pattern :P But ahh well, hindsight is 20/20, and you won anyway! Congrats on the well-deserved win! :D
A j s v o i c e
awww this video was so fun!! i hope you'll continue on making them like this one!
*he lives*
Ajs likes the word neat
Wait just 5 people participated?
Oh...I did not know :c
Well still at least 5 c:
My favorite is still the porygon one :3
The WOOs made me laugh a lot lol
I feel like I might've been a bit too hard on JDude when I judged this. I think the script's difficulty turned me off to the script as a whole at the time.
LoCaA, huh? I wonder if that's a reference to what I think it is.
hell ye
AJS IS ALIVE!
edit: I was most impressed by the Reisen one, and loved Nue's alien abduction a lot. While I personally didn't love Mokuo's a lot I think objectively it had lots of amazing things going.
