Right?? I feel so so so guilty for not even knowing it existed until a few weeks before the movie came out. This show deserves so much better It deserves... a 3rd season and more
As someone who waited since it came out for others to notice it this is sad but reassuring to hear. We didn’t mean to sleep on it but nick was horrible at promoting it, seemingly bc they cared more for TTG, their cash cow
I actually remember when it came out and tried to watch the first episode, but for some probably stupid reason I didn't finish thinking it was weird compared to 2012. High-school me, we were an idiot thinking 2012 was better. Why did we ignore this, it's awesome!!!
I have never once consumed TMNT content. i saw the original designs (plus the first movie costumes) and it sent me away cause of its grotesque nature. But this show really got me into it. The art style, the VAs, the character and the amount of overwhelming work to make sure each episode was so nicely presented was overwhelming. Its really the first time I watched a nickelodeon show and enjoyed it. I hope they make season three.
Literally same! I was never interested in TMNT until I found this show!! It deserves all the love it’s getting online and A DAMN THIRD SEASON AT THE VERY LEAST
TMNT was very much, from the start, an idea from the time of Troma and 90s 'gross-out' aesthetics, ala The Toxic Avenger, Tromeo and Juliet, etc. There's violence, sludge, vulgarity, and crime, people turning into dubiously sexualized mutant creatures, stopping just short of Troma's fondness for depicting severed heads and limbs, along with Juliet's monster cow penis. It's the kind of thing people like the Angry Video Game Nerd form their branding and show theming around. TMNT essentially tells the story of Japanese 'hengeyokai' -- animal-people spirits, not dissimilar from Japan's various creatures like Kappa (reminiscent the Turtles), Tengu, Kawauso (otter people), Bake-danuki (racoon dog people), etc., but takes a science-fiction angle, making them all to be creatures born of a science-fictional mutagen, and moreover, introduced (at least, in the case of the main cast,) to the values of *Ninjutsu* . In addition to the magical, mystical elements, there's aliens, robots, extra-dimensional talking triceratops-alien supremacists, and a fair number of humans getting turned crittery, and critters getting turned human-y, which is all in line with Japanese animism and Buddhism, depicting that intelligence is all somewhat interconnected and playing fast and loose with form. To boil it down to the absolute basics and summarize, TMNT is a Japanese-American superhero fiction, born out of the sewers around NYC Chinatown. And much like real turtles that have survived in the storm sewers of an urban supercenter, the stylings of the story are kinda filthy-skanky.
I blame the fact that it came out literally right after the 2012 series ended! I just spent the last five years being invested in that version of the ninja turtles, and I wasn't ready to move on just yet. Especially with all the changes Rise made to them. However, before seeing the Netflix movie I binged watched the whole series. Man do I regret not watching this series when it was on air!
Same here. I didn't get why they aired a reboot right after the series ended and compared to 2012 I thought Rise seemed strange and cringy. I was so wrong, so glad I've now watched it
They likely wanted to get a darker series out of the limelight with something more child friendly, businesses like Nick aren’t exactly sporadic about cartoons with darker themes.
This. I cannot blame anyone for sleeping on the show (technically I did too, even tho i knew of it, since I wasn’t a fan of TMNT prior) cuz nick sabotaged the show. It aired everything out of order, produced poor toys, and debuted a show with huge changes immediately after the previous incarnation ended. That’s a RECIPE for disaster. People aren’t going to be able to get into a show with inconsistent world building, poor toys, and with huge changes before they can get accustomed to the previous series ending. Nick is such a bad company with such anti consumer practices that it’s almost funny. they need to rectify this.
It was perfect for me bc I didn't finish the series (2012 was also sabotaged, specially in my country, so it was hard to follow it. I never saw most episodes on TV) and when I came back I was destroyed (all the endings seem sad to me) and hyperfixated. It was then when they announced Rise and I couldn't have been happier about it. Sadly, many Rise only fans seem to hate 2012, and many TMNT general fans hate Rise; so I have to avoid the fandom most of the time :(
Same, I am disappointed in my younger self. I judged a book by it’s cover (i didn’t rlly have good taste in art back then & thought the style was weird-)
@Mr. Jones Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t there be two iterations going on at once? Or even, while one season is in production, the other airs their season?
I’ve been watching all the different ninja turtles since I was little with the 2003 show. I have to say as a TMNT veteran, this one is the best one :’)
It's so funny. I started watching the show around August or September of 2018 because Leo's VA (Ben Schwartz) was cast for Sonic's VA for the movie (it was literally the first news I heard for the movie). I had never heard of him. When I saw somebody compiled some lines he did from the first episode of rottmnt, I decided to watch it for the sake of hearing his voice. I ended up really liking the show. I remember how small the audience the was and how some people were saying it wasn't good. I actually didn't know until literally a couple minutes ago that the show started releasing the episodes 2 to 3 months before I discovered it. I think I watched the first episode because it was on youtube. A couple months later after finding it, I realized there were more episodes. I ended up putting it to the side for when I finished watching what there was at the time. I did hear rumors that there was gonna be a movie, but there was nothing about the movie that came up about the movie for a couple months. I put away the series and had forgotten about it because I was getting into other shows too. I also got into anime too a year later. I feel so bad that I missed on the hype for the movie when the trailer dropped. I didn't know the movie dropped until nearly a couple weeks after it did. I'm so happy to see the show is gaining a much bigger audience now and getting the attention it deserves. I'm really hoping we get a season 3. It'll really make my day if they it's happening.
This show is absolutely beautiful, it's comedic but also can be serious and saddening when it has to. I'm praying for it to continue, and it really deserves more attention and love! #saverottmnt 🥺💖

I found myself tearing up more during this series than in any of the others especially at the end of the movie when mickey was crying before saving Leo.
I wish I'd known rise existed before the movie, would have bought the toys, watched the show etc. This amazing show got the supported it deserved just too late #saverottmnt
Brooo this show is like my little pony, it comes across as a kids show, but as you get older and look closer, you realise how friggin sad and adult it can be ❤❤
This show needed so much more time and seasons than it was given. The more serious moments of the show and the entire movie is proof of how good this should could have been-how much BETTER it could have been had it not been downsized so much. I’m 28 and I’ve been watching TMNT since 2003 and Rise was a take on the franchise that I thoroughly enjoyed and it had made some changes that I feel the series needed. Particularly with the familial relationships between the boys and their relationship with Splinter. I even like the changes made to the turtles’ personalities and roles. Even if Rise never comes back, if they can be this original with the next iteration, I would be happy to check it out.
I remember when I heard this show was coming out I didn’t hate or love the idea, I just didn’t care. I didn’t like TMNT as much as other shows. That was until I got hooked on this 🤩 awesome series. Sure it’s got flaws like any other series but the characters have a better family dynamic and actually say “I love you”. I even liked both Casey’s in this show and hope to see more of them.
I feel so bad! I wasn't aware of its existence until like 2 months ago. Then I started seeing clips of the show on my fyp, I found out there was a movie and that was the first thing ROTTMNT related I ever watched. I loved the movie (and have now watched it like 4 times in the span of a month) and watched both season which were extremely hard to find and watch, paying for volumes, different streaming sites it was difficult to watch but eventually I finished all of them. The plot heavy episodes were great, really great, the fight scenes in this show along with the colours and art style is stunning. I found most of the villains endearing, especially Big Mama and Hypno-potamus. But if it wasn't plot related then most filler was great and really funny! Some of my favourite non-plot heavy episodes are Portal Jacked, Clothes Don't make The Turtle, The Purple Jacket, Mystic Library, along with others. Some episodes made me cringe really bad, but those episodes were really rare and I only counted 2 that I found quite unbearable to watch, and even though it made me cringe, some parts of it was still funny, so I'd still enjoy the episode to some degree. Overall, the show is great and deserves more love and recognition, and definitely needs a season 3, you know what you have to do Nickelodeon. #SaveROTTMNT

I’m so disappointed in myself for not knowing about this show until a couple months ago, when the movie first released. I wish it had more commercials and promotion, it deserved so much more.
I know it’s not all my fault but I still blame myself because they didn’t get a season 3, I told everyone I knew that it’s not even tmnt, I said it was to different, that they ruined it, I didn’t even watch the movie, but now knowing what I did wrong I cry watching the movie and love to re-watch the show over and over again. (Sorry for the long shit lol) #saverottmnt
I was aware of this series' existence. Was even happy about the redesigns ('03 was cool and all but I like defined characters whose fighting style is clear and distinct, blame yu yu hakusho for it) but I didn't really care for it. Was glad ot existed, just never thought I'd really get around to watch it cuz I barely watched anime back then, let alone western cartoon which to me seemed like 100s of episodes of nothing.
I want a season 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!!! Why do all the horrible bad animations get tons of season and the actual good show get cancelled!!! It's such BS! unfairness!! I just wanna watch good shows not trash !
I've been watching since the beginning. and I want to say it's not your fault. nickelodeon never promoted this and most people didn't even know it existed. we don't blame you. we blame executives.

I actually heard there MIGHT be season 3, and I'm so sad I slept on this master piece that was made by the actually renaissance artist that the turtles are named after🤩😭😭💜💙❤🧡💜💙❤🧡💜💙❤🧡✨
I still haven't watched the movie..damn it! And I haven't seen that many episodes just ep 1 with April and the gang getting the powered up weapons, and the one where splinter gets sick. and a few clips on Twitter mainly the one where they fight some of the villains in the shadow-dark everytime the light went away as that would either show the victims being defeated or dragged XD while splinter watches worried about the turtles since he didn't think they could possibly defeat them. At least the movie is on Netflix. Hopefully the series is too..
I stopped watching tmnt when i was 12 cuz i moved on to other cartoons quickly until the movie came out, it gave me the same nostalgia happy tree friends does (minus the trauma lol)
I'm gonna be honest. While I do really like this show, like when it's good it's spectacular, but when it's bad it's not fun to watch. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy several of the episodic plots and fun one off episodes, but most of the episodic plots are boring and that really drags the show down for me.
It feels like the entire universe is telling me to watch this show…including my brother Update: …I’m starting to watch season 1, and I don’t regret it one bit Update, the sequel: So I watched the movie and it ripped me to shreds… But I’m the wise words of Michelangelo: “I REGRET NOTHING”

90% was from the very well amazing movie.
you really aint have to do that to my heart
The last ronin
I still can't watch the last battle :( saf

Are some of the episodes not on Netflix? I keep seeing additional content but I can’t find it.
why was there so much pain in that movie
it got DARK so fast
0:02 what episode is this scene from?
I'm gonna be honest. While I do really like this show, like when it's good it's spectacular, but when it's bad it's not fun to watch. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy several of the episodic plots and fun one off episodes, but most of the episodic plots are boring and that really drags the show down for me.
It feels like the entire universe is telling me to watch this show…including my brother
Update: …I’m starting to watch season 1, and I don’t regret it one bit
Update, the sequel: So I watched the movie and it ripped me to shreds…
But I’m the wise words of Michelangelo:
“I REGRET NOTHING”
watch it lol
@@Novamoon97 …I did, lol
