    Sam, you gotta come off of your priors with Zay Flowers. Calling him a manufactured touches/gimmick guy doesn’t reflect what Flowers put out on tape last year. He lined up all over the field and ran almost every route successfully. And he went through stretches where he was Lamar’s first read. Yes, they designed a lot of plays for him. But that doesn’t mean he can’t also produce by just winning.

    • @adgee5401
      @adgee5401 Pƙed 20 dny +8

      Even if it did reflect (I’m not saying it did), isn’t that what coaches are supposed to do? Put their players in the best possible position to make plays?

      @@DevinAlvarado2414 Right. And in fairness, I'm guessing it's not all priors and that Sam probably is alluding to Zay having had one of the highest percentages in the NFL of plays designed for him. But what he doesn't seem to be taking into account, perhaps because his bias is blinding him, is that separate from those designed plays, Flowers won as a receiver all over the field even when the play wasn't scripted for him. The last time we saw Zay, he was at times the best player on the field in the AFCCG.

    Hendrickson looked pretty happy in the interview he did the other day. The weak spot on the o line is LG. BUT Volson has gotten better each year he has played and he hasn’t missed a snap yet. His first year he graded out at 53.8. In year 2 he graded out at 58.9 so that imptovment. If he can get to 67 or 68 that would be just fine.

    As a fan of the Lions, I do not understand all of this talk about replacing Josh Reynolds. His best game was five receptions and one game where he reached 80 receiving yards. Reynolds had five games with a single catch, four games with two catches, and three games with three catches. So, in 12 games he had limited impact and was unable to play in another. Why is this so difficult to replace?

      Queen sucked til he could lean on Roquan. Geno Stone was a backup. We got kvn back and Ojabo back plus a draft pick. Defense is the same scheme/verbage and we got the best ILB in the game to help the new DC. Ravens have a great history of developing young oline talent plus they have a wide margin for error with Henry and LJ8 in the backfield.

    Gannon had this defense over achieving considering they were playing with maybe 10 injuries on the D Line. This offense should put points up if they can get any reasonable play at Guard. The defense should be hugely improved. This is a 12 win team simply because the offense will score 28 points a game.

  • @NathanDean79
    @NathanDean79 Pƙed 20 dny

    The problem with Dax Hill is he doesn’t have a problem but the Bengals stuck him at Free Safety last year. Well Dax never played FS at Michigan. He played nickel CB primarily. So we moved him over to CB and next year after Mike Hilton is gone Dax Hill will be the starting nickel CB. And it wasn’t his fault that things were so fucked up in the secondary. Whenever you have 2 rookie safety’s and a rookie CB and your other CB is in his first full year you are going to have problems. Dax stats last year speak for themselves. He had 110 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 12 pass break ups, and 2 interceptions. That’s better than Jessie Bates rookie year. And again that was the first time Dax had EVER played FS in his life. Dax is a coverage guy. Man to man and zone too. He isn’t a center fielder a roaming FS like Bates was. Dax does better the closer he is to the line of scrimmage. So in 2025 Hilton and Bell will be gone and Jordan Battle will be the starting SS and Dax will be the starting Nickel CB. And the year after that when Stones contract is up hopefully Tycen Anderson will be ready to start for us. He is a best. 6’2’’ 209 lbs and runs 4.36.

  • @NathanDean79

    Cb is not a weak spot. Yea DJ Tuner don’t set the world on fire with his performance. He played a little more than half the year and had 50 tackles, 1 fumble Recoverys, and 7 pass breakups. That pretty dam good for a rookie CB playing the the AFC north and playing a historically hard schedule. What CB is great their first year besides Sauce Gardner? Even Derek Stinglys first year was Meh. Turner will be fine he is going to be a Pro Bowler in the future. His recovery speed is unmatched.

    Do the people that give out player grades actually watch the games? Or do they just look at a player's statistical output (including advanced/next gen stats) and distill that into the grades? If the answer is the second one, it might help PFF's overall reputation to add in a healthy dose of the first

      I don’t work for PFF so I can’t say for absolute fact, but I’ve listened to this podcast for a few years and know someone who worked for PFF. They mentioned on this podcast before that the grades are generated from watching the plays and grading each individual play on a scale. If I remember correctly I think it’s -2 to 2 and then obviously all the numbers in between. The person who I know that worked for PFF said that he had to do that, watching games and grading individual plays.

    Worthy ran 4.21 because he only weighs 163 lbs. yea he ran track but so did John Ross. Ross holds many PAC12 records on the track. Ross is a beast. If he could have stayed on the field he would have been great. You could see the break away speed from him when he played. Ross ran the 4.22 at his playing weight of 190 lbs. So add 25 pounds to Worthy and see if he runs that again. And yes Sam you are correct Ross had a bad start and ran 4.22. He couldn’t run it again to rectify it because he pulled his calf muscle running the 4.22. Much more impressive the 4.22 by Ross than the 4.21 by Worthy. Worthy plays st 165 lbs and ran at 163 lbs. he is going to get hurt unless he gets his weight up to near 180. Oh and Worthy is 6’ and Ross is 5’11’’.

    Bengals have their starting CBs. Mike Hilton in the slot and Dax Hill backing him up and on the outside Cam Taylor Britt who was playing Pro Bowl level
    Football last year until an injury took him out for a couple of games. And the other outside CB is DJ Turner our second round pick last year out of Michigan. He is the fastest player on whatever field he plays on. 4.26 speed and he is great at man to man. He can run with and keep up with anyone in the league. He has beefed up a little bit since arriving in the NFL. He is 6’ 188 which is just fine. And their backups will be Dax Hill who will
    Start at nickel next year when Hilton is gone but he can
    Play outside too. So backup is Hill, Josh Newton the 5th round pick this year and DJ Ivey a 7th round pick last year. Yes I do thing they need to sign a veteran for backup if nothing else. Eli Apple would be fine because he knows the system well after playing here for 2’years. He is an average level cb but he has size and speed at 6’1’’ 200 lbs and runs 4.40.

    Brown and Smith aren’t the two top WR tandems in the NFL. Jamar Chase and Tee Higgins still hold that spot I think. Tell you what let’s do a little test. For your team you need a great WR2 and Devante Smith and Terry Higgins are available and they cost the same exact amount of money same guaimlney everything about their contracts will be identical. Who would you pick? Higgins or Smith? I would pick Tee Higgins and I’m fairly certain if you asked ALL NFL GM’s then 60-65% of them would want Tee. Maybe up to 75%.

If you are a true fan of your team. Have played the game at some time in your youth whether it be college, HS, or Jr High. Know how to watch tape. Understand blocking assignments. And know the call that you are watching, then why do you need math nerds trying to apply something that can't truly be utilized in the sport. Its not baseball. Baseball can be measured that way. Football cannot. Which is why teams that use it are starting to struggle. Its a fad in the NFL. Nothing more.

    He had a calf strain big woopty. How many games did he miss because of it?? He’s 0 games. Everyone who plays on the NFL plays through injuries. Everyone. This is the first semi normal
    Off-season that Burrow has ever had. First year was Covid so no training camp or very little. 2nd year was rehabbing his knee. 3rd year was the emergency surgery from a BURST appendix which is absolutely
    Life threatening. The surgery he had for appendicitis was different than a none burst appendix because if it hasn’t burst they make a 1 inch incision. If it burst as in Joes case they have to cut you wide open and clean out all that burst material. It’s a far more incase surgery. So Joe had invasive surgery and still played every single game and got the team to the AFC Championship game. The next year was the strained calf but again he missed no games and then the wrist Injury. You can call him injury prone or whatever you want but Joe is a tough motherfucker. The reason other QBs haven’t gone down is they have never suffered anything like this. Bad luck on bad luck. The universe owes us one though boys. Place your bets now while
    The odds are good because the Bengals will win the Super Bowl this year Joe will win MVP and Super Bowl MVP. They will play the 49ers in the Super Bowl and the Bengals will finally have their vengeance on the 49ers for those 2 Super Bowl losses in the 80’s.

    You forgot to mention that Washington yea might not have a big difference maker on the edge has 2 of the best DT’s in the NFL in Johnathon Allen and Daron Payne. And I guess they are anticipating Allen’s time with them will soon be at an end so they drafted Johnny Newton who depending on who you asked was the best or second best DT in this class. I mean Byron Murphy had 5 sacks last year and Newton had 8.5 but Murphys pressure rate was about 2% more than Newtons but then again Newton didn’t have a Devondre Sweat playing next to him eating up double teams. People usually failed to realize this when comparing Murphy to Newton. I believe Newton was the best in this class.

    If you are talking escaping the pocket running and getting first down or escaping the pocket and making plays out of structure then Joe Burrow is terrific at that. LSU 2019 he had 400 rushing yards and 5rusbimg tds. In 2022 Burrow had as many rushing yards as Patrick Mahomes and more rushing TDs. Everything Aron Rodgers can do with a football in his hand yea Burrow can also do that. I hate it when people say Pat Mahomes does things physically that other people can’t do. No he can’t. Everything Mahomes can do Burrow can also do. The only thing I have t seen Burrow do is throw from some of the crazy arm angles that Mahomes does but Burrow doesn’t have to do that. I think he could if he wanted to but he has never had a need to do it. I think Mahomes just does it to do it.

    I don't think McCarthy will see the field this season. Why would he? Darnold went 8-9 with a poor Panthers roster - Baker went 1-6, Young went 2-15 with that team. KOC won games with Dobbs and Mullens and without Jettas. I don't think it will be a huge challenge for him to win games with Darnold. JJ is going to get at least a year of one on one private tuition. He'll be ready when KOC is happy with him, not fans and analysts.
    Tillery et al are replacing Dean Lowry - that isn't really a risk.

I would love to chat about why you think it would be foolish to think the titans won’t have at the bare minimum an average o line this year w bill callahan as coach. he’s literally one of the greatest o line coaches ever and the man invents his own sleds
 I’m not famous or anything but I’m not stupid. And it’s stupid to not have faith in bill callahan. Look at what he did the the browns o line the past couple seasons. You can have the Levis take bc he’s young but Callahan is proven. Time and time again. Love to talk sometime and ask some questions.

    Ok guys CJ Stroud had a good rookie season but I don’t know about one of the best we have ever seen. Justin Herbert’s rookie year was phenomenal and he like Stroud only played 15 games that year. So Herbert rookie year was far better. Baker Mayfields rookie year was comparable to Strouds. Mac Jones rookie year was comparable to Strouds. Joe Burrow was on pace to have a very similar rookie season than all the guys I’ve named except Burrow unlike Stroud and Mayfield, had a bottom 3 offensive line. They may have even been last in 2020. So enough of this nonsense of Stroud had one of the best rookie seasons we have seen. 2018 Mahfield, 2020 Burrow, 2020, Herbert, 2021 Jones. All of them are comparable to Stroud. Burrow was on pace for a similar season before he knew got shredded behind a terrible offensive line. Stroud has a Pro Bowl LT one of the best in the game. Burrow and Herbert didn’t have that luxury.

    Dak should have won the MVP last year. From a QB stats perspective he was the best overall QB last year. And I say that a die hard a cowboys hater. It pains me to have to say it but yea Dak deserved the MVP but since they almost allways give the MVP to a player, usually QB, on one of the 1 seed teams. Why they do this I have no fucking idea. The MVP is about regular season production period full stop. It’s not supposed to
    Be about wins and lawsses. Dak led the league in TD passes which is one of the main metrics. Needless to say Joe Burrow Will win it this year after he take the Bengals to the 1 seed and he will get Super Bowl MVP too.
