www.nucleusinc.com/medical-ani... Episiotomy is commonly performed during childbirth to prevent tearing of the perineum. This 3D medical animation depicts two types of episiotomy during labor and delivery, a surgical procedure during vaginal birth in which an incision is made in the perineum to widen the vaginal opening, in order to allow a baby to pass through and be born. A midline incision extends straight down from the vagina toward the anus. A mediolateral incision is made on an angle from the vagina in the direction of the anus.

I just had a mediolateral episiotomy for my baby boy last week.. Yep, it's no joke! It hurts so bad. I'm in so much pain still, and can barely sit down. Saying that, as I look into my baby's eyes, it's worth every single bit of pain. He's my everything. 💙💙💙

Sounds super painful. Why does something that's natural have to be so painful. You'd think that our bodies would be designed to deliver a baby without tearing. You know because we were meant to birth them.

I forgot everything when i got my beautiful baby. Good hygiene, healthy diet,a lot of rest helped a lot... and after that, got to exercise the pelvic floor muscles to avoid future problems... you know... the leaks n all that... I hot three ither children after her, and i have not envountered the slightest difficulty or had to undergo this procedure again. Take care of yourselves mommas and of your lil precious blessings. This is pretty much gential mutilation. It's not needed at all, a tear will heal better and if DRs got the woman of her back and upright she wouldn't tear (or tear badly). Informed consent is a crock because DRs just tell the woman the beneifits and not the cons of having this done and by the time you've given all the facts the womans pushed the baby out and didn't need it it done anyway.

@sarkerm2 yeah, surgeons do that so the expulsion of the babay will be easy! But it doesnt hurt at all because they are injecting local anesthesia. and they do episiorrhapy after.

This actually is way worse then tearing during birth the rate of infection and healing has went up and this is proven to be THE worse way to help during birth.
