- Hi, it's Lai! I'm a UPOU BAMS Freshman and I made this because this was something I needed back when I was in JHS and SHS, trying to find out what it's like to be a UP - Open University student. And now I'm actually in it, I want to share my experiences and tips I wish I knew before I got here. I hope this helps future UPOU students and UPOU Freshies :)

What about PE or ROTC. Can you join a varsity? How is your social life with your classmates? Are ever required to go to a UP campus for exams? How are exams done?

Hello po ate! Hindi ko po gets yung undergraduate program sa open university😢. Does it mean po ba na kapag nakatapos ako ng ilang years bawal magpatransfer sa main campuses which means magiging undergrad lang ako and degree holder pero hindi gagraduate?
Naconfuse po kasi ako kasi ganyan ata sa PUP open univ hehe
kapag ang status po ba ay TO TAKE DE READINESS module may possibility pa po ba ma decline yung application or almost in na po?
Hello, is there an online meeting or more on readings and video learning?
hi! so far, in the five subjects that i took, there were no online meetings. just modules and readings. there are videos recommended to be watched in some modules but not so much. so it's mostly readings.

may tanong po ako, kapag po ba OUS (Open University System) ang pinasukan ko pwede parin po ba akong lumipat o maging regular student.

Hello, Ms. Lai. Ask ko lang sana if yung mga exams/quizzes scheduled siya like for 12:00 - 1:00 lang or mahaba din naman yung deadlines na binibigay. Hehe, thank you po.
Hi Darrell! Usually mahaba time periods na pwede mag-quiz or mag-exam. May mga subjects na one whole day pwede magsagot, a whole weekend, a whole week, or minsan more than that pa. May iba rin na may short time period lang katulad ng namention mo. Either way, maaga magheads-up mga prof so pwede sila imessage agad if di ka available dun sa time period and they will adjust the time na open yung quizzes/exams for you. Hope this helps! :)

@@nonenone6864 hi! hindi po required sumama sa zoom sessions and yes, may recording po na pwede mapanood ng mga di nakasali sa zoom. sa subjects po, i usually take 4 subjects and PE per semester :)
Hi, do I need to take UPCAT ba for me to enter UPOU? I graduated last 2019 from Senior high, and I'm planning to go back to college however since I have work, I think Open University will suit for my lifestyle though, ayun nga sana walang UPCAT chour, but thanks in advance!

hi! yup, you'll need to take it to get admitted. but if graduate or kakagraduate mo pa lang ng shs, you'll just have to apply sa upcae kasi i think ito yung substitute ng upcat ngayon :)

Super hirap po ba ng programming subjects niyo like yung sa COMSCI?
hello! i don't do programming at all before entering upou. but so far, in all the programming subjs i have taken, i dont find them super hirap at all. time consuming siguro would be a better word for my personal experience kasi as a total beginner, i know that i do need take a bit more time to understand the lessons

hello! it depends on the student kung anong subjects gusto niyang itake. on my first term of my first year, i took 4 GE courses and only 1 Major. And now, I'm taking 4 majors and 1 GE. It really depends kung anong subjects aapplyan mo because we're free to choose which ones to take. advised lang talaga na gumawa ng planner to make sure na available yung subjs na gusto mong itake on that term kasi not all subjs are available on all terms.

have you always planned to take multimedia po? ano po yung subjects and future jobs sa upou? thank you!
nope, but i've always wanted to take anything na related sa media and/or communication na meron both sa multimedia studies. the subjects are all listed on their website, here: fics.upou.edu.ph/programs/bachelor-of-arts-in-multimedia-studies-curriculum-2018/. as for job opportunities, there's a lot but off the top of my head are UX designer, broadcast journalist, social media manager, TV/film producer, etc. basta related to media, information, and/or communications. hope this helps!
