    Always so nice to see Miho again. She answered all the questions very well. She knows the metal scene, even back when it started. A lot of old-school metal fans believe the first metal band was Black Sabbath. Japan has a huge metal/music scene. So much talent. I hope Lovebites will tour the USA soon.

Will always be grateful to her. She's beautiful, charming, classy, brilliant, superbly talented, great bassist. I wish her every happiness, blessing. From what I've read people was not very happy with Pantera's reunion, some criticism were calling them a cover band with the wrong members. Probably too harsh. Here in the south of Europe Pantera was just one small band more in the heavy metal scene, but since I've started to check english speaking heavy metal internet I've noticed people is very passionate about them in the USA.
    Speaking of the USA, in 2022/2023 I don't see LOVEBITES having any problem to be able to do small shows there. During pandemic the band has got lots of attention that didn't exist prior to 2020. It is a style of metal that connects better with the audience in Europe and Latin America I think, but USA also has an audience that enjoys this more british-like heavy metal.
    And yeah I watched that live stream and Nemophila's show was awesome, their songs are good, they show great style and charisma on stage and they are all really talented. It was a small show but an important stepping stone for them and the whole japanese girls metal scene. You guys who were able to go see them were lucky.

      I thhink she's been really clear here, If you read between the lines. She mentioned she is getting in touch with old friends "metalheads".She also mentioned their success n the US, based "Initially," building their brand, on high quality covers of old classics,before embarking on originals, and contrasted it with love bites lack of success in the US, Having come straight out with originals, without building a brand.
      As amazing as love bites. Music is, just look at the numbers Nemo racked up, with their Internet covers, ironically, there 2 Iron Maiden covers. "The trooper" and "aces high", are the cats, by far the most successful covers they did, which have got several million views. This is ironic because Iron Maiden, is by far Miho's favourite band, and is the structure with which she has Formulated, But progressed love bites essential sound with
      It's no coincidence that love bites came out with a fantastic quality cover of painkiller, about a year after Nemo, had racked up all those numbers with their covers. Again no coincidence, that this is Mihos 2nd favourite band of all time

    I think that the main reason Lovebites has not been to the USA is because of Miho’s departure from the band, but they’re about to announce the new bass player. Remember they performed at Wacken Open Air, Germany, in 2018, with great success. Best wishes to Miho.

    • @Rowlph8888

      She's basically saying here that she regrets not building their profile with internationally popular covers, in the same genre, before embarking on original stuff. It's no coincidence that Nemophilia racked up millions of views with 2 fantastic interpretations of Iron Maiden songs, Then the little while later love bites randomly release 2 covers, 1 of them being painkiller.Iron Maiden and Judas Priest are Mihos favourite bands.
      Nemo have got a US and international audience with only a handful of original stuff, following no more than about 10 brilliant professional interpretations of covers.

    These two interviews uncovered a lot of ground that I was curious about Miho. I really appreciated that she was the mastermind behind Lovebites and wrote a lot of their material, but was confused by her departure, especially since the talent level in that band was titanic. Now I've got an idea. I hope she finds the pieces to make a power-groove band with bluesy elements and a flashy stage show, starts out with a good assortment of worldly-accessible covers, makes a good brand and finally crosses to the US. I'd go see whatever she creates.

Lovebites, obviously, Babymetal, The Warning, Atarashii Gakko, Jinjer, Avatar, Volbeat etc. etc. I know some of these bands have been around a while but they certainly weren't around in my teenage years.

    • @Rowlph8888

      They weren't all into Metal exclusively. Their success so far is exclusivvely because of Miho and Haruna, who are more grounded metalheads, who adore iron maiden, Priest, Helloween etc.They decided the basic structure of the sound would be classic metal in the bass driven Iron Maidenesque sound, with the twin guitars, feeding off the bass and the fantasy and theatre, but taking it a little more progressive. I think other band members may have felt constrained by this, but also probably don't understand that Miho, is not just a musician but a leader, who understands what works to be a technical, interesting and popular band simultaneously
      She has implied a couple oof things here about why she may have left - she's mentioneed getting back in touch with "old friends", implying metalheads and doing covers and also mentioning "Nemo", who have been incredibly successful "Internationally", by doing their own interpretations of classic covers, before embarking on original music.She also contrasted "Nemo's"US success, with the lack of US success, by lovebites. It's ironic that Nemo's 2 iron maiden covers, have been, by far, the most popular covers, they have done. Firstly, maybe she thinks they should have started out doing high quality interpretations, of old classics, which would build their brand 1st before doing the original stuff. Notice how Nemophila did brilliant covers of maidens. "The trooper" and "Aces high", then Love bites came out with a cover of "painkiller" later. Miho probably saw the dramatic Numbers of views, Nemo, were racking up on the Internet and wanted a piece of it
      Secondly, as good as Miyako is, with her classical background and focus on technical excellence, i would think she would want to take the group more progressive and artistry based and less focus on the theatre, and overall listener experience. Just a guess, but I would assume that so far she felt constrained so far, by the "Overton window" that Miho may have put upon her. Don't be surprised if you see love bites turn into a retro "dream theatre" from here on,, with Monotonous, self-indulgent Malmsteinesque Guitar solos everywhere
      It's all a matter of choice.if Lovebites want to be a global brand, they should not take their music too progressive and talking about Lame real-world issues, which have been done to death and leads to a small audience.

    Miho is always interesting. I wish I had a time machine so I could take her to see the Soulfly and Pantera show I saw in Dayton, Ohio . . . 2001? I think that's when it was. Great show, and I'm sure she would have enjoyed it.
    The Japanese band that has made the most inroads in America has to be Babymetal. BAND-MAID, Asterism, and Wagakki Band have done American tours at various points, but those tours weren't close to the scale of Babymetal. I remember reading that Miho played in the USA when she was in Destrose, though I think that was just at an anime convention in Oklahoma.

    I enjoyed the interview and understand that you probably couldn't ask why she left the band which is what all the Lovebites fans want to know. It's baffling to most fans that she left. They have a huge following in Europe where power metal is popular, they were playing festivals and touring with big power metal bands like Dragonforce. She was even photographed meeting her metal heroes like Steve Harris and Rob Halford. Why would she leave? I think she left over musical differences. I think the others want to go in a symphonic or progressive musical direction. They just hired a virtuoso bassist who clearly doesn't even like metal that much judging from her youtube channel so that indicates to me that they'll go progressive where every song is a 30 minute epic with endless bass, guitar and drum solos. I was drawn to Lovebites back in 2017 because the were a power metal version of early Iron Maiden back from the 80's before they went all progressive and boring. I'm apprehensive about what Lovebites will do next. Miho was my favourite member of the band so will certainly follow her career if she forms a new band. I'd love her to form a new band that will play songs she wrote. Most of my favourite Lovebites songs were hers. She has too much talent just to quit music and have to go get a real 9 to 5 job. She's been in metal bands since Destrose over 10 years ago and she's not that old.

      Thank you Michael for taking the time to watch and comment on our video. Regarding Miho's departure from LB, she made a statement on social media when the band announced her leave, and that's it. She is very talented indeed and we look forward to her future musical projects, whenever and wherever it may be.

    • @junkgroovejunk
      @junkgroovejunk Před rokem +1

      Many of Miho's songs are concentrated in the early days of LB, and it seems that the late songs are composed by Asami and Miyako. Maybe Miho didn't like the band going in a different direction than she did. However, I think she left the band because it was not just Miho's band and it was successful as a band. Also, I imagine that the relationship with Miyako may have collapsed in the latter half of the year, there are almost no photos or videos of the two side by side, and Haruna is always between them. I think Haruna feared that LB would end if Miho and Miyako left the band. In that sense, I think Haruna saved LB.

      @@junkgroovejunk I agree with you. I thought the same thing myself. Even though Miho wrote about 3 songs per album Miyako and Asami emerged as the main driving force behind their musical direction. Even Midori started writing songs. I think maybe Miho realized that it wasn't her band anymore. I can see Lovebites moving away from the Iron Maiden sound of Miho's songs and becoming more progressive or symphonic.

    She is so correct about how bands in Japan don’t have to work like slaves traveling abroad to have success. Domestically, a lot of Japanese bands have huge success in Japan. If you look at the audiences they are over whelming.
    One Ok Rock drew 110,000 fans at their outdoor concert in Nagisein Park. Japan really supports their artists and really like to keep some things in Japan. It’s always been that way in some form or another with a country that once kept it’s self closed off from the rest of the world intentionally.
    Now, as much as I love that wonderful, awesome country, it’s being too Westernized in some parts, especially Tokyo. I really hate that because there is something very special about Japanese culture, something ethereal and beautiful. I don’t want to see that overwhelmed by the disrespect of the West.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. A lot of people have pointed out the same subject regarding the "elephant". This is how we view it. Firstly Miho has already mentioned previously on social media why she left LOVEBITES, and we didn't find it necessary to have her repeat what she had already mentioned in the past. Secondly, we didn't want to feature anything negative in this interview, nor do we want to feature contents that relate to gossip. Our priority on this channel is to spread information about Japanese music and culture, and we plan to stick to that. That said, we hope you understand our stance and support our future endeavors.

    My opinion, Not surprising, just talking about Japan Metal scene. LOVEBITES could been in USA tour before F N Covid messed up everything in the world . Hate it with a passion. Lol she's right about Nemophila how they got started. Saki side band to me from mary's blood. Bad part is there alot of bands in Japan. Sorry, Alot of bad and good few bands. Each to there own. Labels needs to change in Japan. True, internet is new way to promote new bands and Twitter. For years, Some lucky others well. For Miho As a longtime Fan of LOVEBITES will never know why. I seen other Japanese bands use a reason good or bad. But never talk about why it happened on members leave bands. Just move on. Not a big deal for me in Japan only. I care only about the Music the band make to keep me as a fan. All good. 💜🥰🤘 Miho Good Luck in Life and music and Thank You for making LOVEBITES. Cheers ✌ Stay Safe and Stay Metal.

    I like many bands in Japan, like Sand and Band Maid etc...One of my only gripes is that a lot of the musicians in Japan are too technical and don't play with enough feeling from the heart. Many of their guitar hero's didn't know how to read a note of music but were able to pull something out of their heart and soul.

    • @TheHeavierJapan
      @TheHeavierJapan  Před rokem

      Thank you for commenting Steve! You're right and that's exactly what Miho mentioned in the interview. A lot of weight is put on the technical aspect and not much on things like groove, emotion, tone, etc. Would be great if a lot of the musicians here in Japan realize this important factor that can take them to a higher level.

    Yes, more feeling and songs from the heart. It's ok to make a mistake. As Miles Davis once said, "If you don't make a mistake, you already made a mistake" One more thing, I think theJapanese producers and engineers use way too much compression. Taking a really good song and making it lifeless. An example of a really good recording is Polyphia, czcams.com/video/1JNmz17gnMw/video.html The music is a bit open and not squashed.

      I over heard a conversation by an American - Japanese band promoter the other day , he was saying the same thing that the Japanese management teams and record companies have a tight hold over the bands and don't want outside promoters trying to organise tours outside of Japan , they are so closed minded to change . Pity for the world fans who would welcome them with open arms
