God has given us this opportunity once again to share God’s word through this online ministry.
I really thank God this privilege and May God bless to each one of you who are watching this video.
And today my sermon will be on the request of one the Pastor from Assam who made in the comment of last Sunday preaching.
I am going to preach on his request. He requested me share on “Will our past sin be forgiven?
We shall be ponder upon this topic for a short moment.
It’s not easy to answer this question.
If our sins we have committed before God are not forgiven, I think there will be no one in heaven.
The birth and the death of Jesus Christ itself is for the forgiveness of sin, all our transgressions.
Yet, there is a condition to receive this forgiveness. Our sin will not be simply forgiven because Jesus had come and died for our sins.
The condition to receive forgiveness of our past sin is very clearly written in I John 1:9.
How will you receive the forgiveness of our sins, whatever sins, even if I don’t mention or explain them all, sins we have committed knowingly or unknowingly?
In I John 1:9 we can see the way or means to receive forgiveness is confession. If we hide the sins God will not forgive our sins whether past or present.
Therefore, the answer to the question of the Pastor is found in I John 1:9 “If we confess our sins”. If we keep hiding our sins, it shall not be forgiven.
This is what I will like to tell to you all by making I John 1:9 as the basis to response the question.
There are many heroes of the bible. If we examined all their lives, none of them has led a perfect life since birth.
There were stumbled, made mistakes at some points of their lives. They broke the law of God in their lives. Who are those?
1.Firstly, let’s see Who Paul is. Paul himself had not lived a sinless or perfect life since his birth.
We will know very well who Paul is if we read Acts 9:1 through verse 9. His name was Saul, not Paul initially. We know that Saul is a wicked person. But one day; on his way to Damascus, he encountered Jesus. There it is written that Paul saw a light flashed upon him. He was unconscious and fell down upon seeing the light.
Then he heard a voice calling him Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
He responded, “Who are you? Are you the Lord?”
The voice answered, I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.”
Saul who hate Christians and who was persecuting them changed greatly after this incident and thereafter he was known as Paul. If we read the following verses, we will see that he was blind for three days.
2. Secondly, Let's from the life of David.
David was an anointed king and a good musician, but he also fall into temptation with Beersheba, But God forgive David when he come with a repented heart.
3.Thirdly the lost son.
He ran away to a far country taking all his father's wealth but he too coming back to his father with a repented heart and his father received him back.
Conclusion:
We too, though we committed sins against God but if we repent and confess our sin God is ready to forgive our sins and accept as His children. (1 John 1:9)
