- Lyrics-
The position being taken is not to be mistaken
For attempted education or righteous accusation
Only a description just an observation of the pitiful
Condition of our degeneration
Walls made of opinions through which we speak and never listen
Ceiling made of pride vicious and self satisfied
Door thats made of rage hard and slowly aged
Always closing tighter with every war that's waged
Room without a window can't see out
Room without a window can't see out, can't see out
Floor is made of lives wed gladly end to stay inside
Corners made of borders, borders made of law and order
Painted with the words of politicians and religion
Plastered with the wreckage of our cultural division
Room without a window can't see out
Room without a window can't see out, can't see out
[Spoken]
Ha! ha! ha! ha! ha! oh... we're so stupid!
Killing each other, don't we learn nothing?!
Gotta room inside our mind, yeah we gotta
We can't see out because we're blind, but it goes to show
We've gotta make ourselves dream, alright
From the room without a window to a different way to see
Gotta room inside our mind, yeah we gotta
We can't see out because we're blind, but it goes to show
We've gotta make ourselves dream, alright
From the room without a window to a different way to see
The position being taken is not to be mistaken
For attempted education or righteous accusation
Only a description just an observation of the pitiful
Condition of our degeneration
Room without a window can't see out
Room without a window can't see out, can't see out
Room without a window can't see out
Room without a window can't see out, can't see out - Hudba
the position being taken is not to be mistaken for attempted education or righteous accusation; only a description, just an observation of the pitiful condition of our degeneration
This album is necessary and an essential part of my existence.
Probably the best punk record in my book, not Nirvana, not Ramones, not Metallica, whatever and however i like them
Operation Ivy is absolutely stunning work and i think the message is very serious
brilliant lyrics give us a beautiful metaphor with helpful suggestion "gotta make ourselves dream from a room without a window to a different way to see"
Surprised I still remember all the words. Holy cow.
wReckLesss thought the same thing
lol that's how to live
wReckLesss you still remember the lyrics?
🤣 for me it's first time to fully read and understand his rapid mumbling 😅know this song for almost 16 years now but only got the refrain right 🤣
Gotta say; awesome lyrics - i should have read and translated them a little earlier
Haha same
Amazing lyrics, amazing bass player, amazing memories! I get so nostalgic listening to Op Ivy!
Jesse is my favorite lyricist of all time and it's not even close.
I'm not big on lyris but Operation Ivy is one of the few bands that I have a huge respect for their lyrics.
as we move into 92', still in room without a view
This intro was the start of my editorials in high school😁
What happened to good tunes like these??? I miss it. Takes me back!
dont we learn nothin!?
Love this band. Nice job!
+Jane Sharp who doesn't i love playing this shit at bars
Great to see this song is still painfully spot-on
You read my mind. And even 9 years later it's still painfully spot-on, it might be even more spot-on than before!
@@wonderfulweg7672 that ain't no joke
Op Ivy is probably one of the best bands in my opinion, unmatched energy, message, flow
Stating in my garage to this in 96 🔥
OMG THE DEPTH OF THIS LYRICS!
Such an awesome song!
THIS ALBUM MAKES ME BOUGHT A GUITAR SO I CAN LEARN PLAYING ALL THEIR SONGS BY LIST. I'M NOT SOME KIND OF VIRTUOSO ON GUITAR BUT THIS WHOLE ALBUM LEARNED TO PLAY PERFECT. ONLY THING I'M SERBIAN AND I UNDERSTAND AND I CAN SPEAK ENGLISH BUT TO SING THAT FAST IN THE RITHM,DAMN, THATS HARD. BROKE MY TOUNGH TRYING TO KEEP UP THE RITHM WITH SINGING. SO I CALLED MY GIRLFRIEND TO TRY IT. SHE NAILED IT. DAMN I THINK I'M GONNA MARIE HER FOR THAT AMOUNGH ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT SHE DRIVES OUT OF ME. I'M TRULY BLESSED RIGHT NOW AND SATISFIED WITH MY LIFE. THINGS CAN NOT BE ANY BETTER THAN THEY ARE RIGHT NOW. FELLING SO BLESED
first punk song and first punk album for me. im HOOKED
Oh hello, Da- Rusty Shackleford
This album was next level
love operation ivy soo mcuh! no words to describe
Song is very relevant in 2016.
2020 protests 😭
Holy shit, it's really been 20 years? Man, time flies...
It's now 30 years 🤯
One of the smartest bands ever.
A house without windows was written by a 13 year old girl in the early 1900s let that sink in. She became a typist.
This song is a very over simplified message of that book
Room without a window can't see out - makes sense to me.
The position being taken, is not to be mistaken for attempted education or righteous accusation, only a description just an observation, of the pathetic condition of our
yeah well it blows my mind as well. it was just yesterday
Classic...
This song is the definition of ska punk
STILL BANGS
i listened to this cd hundreds of times and memorized so many of these lyrics growing up not knowing what they meant but just enjoying the vibes. now i wonder why i'm so anti establishment? haha
@BigMrSox you sir have earned mad respect points.
Rancid IS some of the memebers of Op Ivy. Op Ivy has been dead for 20 years so, NO they are not the same band with different singers...Look it up.
@bluematter54 yes, so was matt freeman
@IGotN0 you might just not like it cuz you find it really noisy and full of pointless shouting that could be someones opinion but I think they're awesome! Thumbs up for knowledge!
Ya =\. Really it's been more than 20 years, though.
is that some Rorschach on the album?
Yes he was, bluematter
@uzidude132 this one's actually heavier on the Ska part Take Warning is more punk
@uzidude132 amen
The position being taken
Is not to be mistaken
For attempted education
Or righteous accusation
Only a description
Just an observation
Of the pitiful condition
Of our degeneration
@Bimbotehdinosawr well whatever they are, if it werent for them i would probably be a different person right now.
@IGotN0 kinda weird that you put a period after your "period"
Wasnt Tim Armstrong in Op Ivy?
He was in Operation Ivy . Back then he went by the name “Lint”
Yep
do they need numbers or just screams ?
anyone else noticed extreme similarities between this and Sonseed "Jesus is a friend of mine"?
[empty] holy fuck, ur right.
If only people were capable of interpreting the real meaning behind it...There are a few, but only a few...
The rest have assumed that real music revolves around; guns, drugs, murder, thug-life, and oh yeah, the size of your clip, rims, and subs.
What ever happened to substance? I'm a German who was raised during the Cold War, and I have easily related to the positive message of the arts; in direct contrast to the negative imposition of the mindless mainstream beat.
Listen, relate, and enjoy.
:)
Hans von Grimm yeah what you said!
@Kuriz Guy amazing interpretation my friend
@bluematter54 op ivy is rancid with different singers look it up
Nope. Rancid has tim Armstrong (lint) and matt Freeman from operation ivy but they have a different drummer and they also have lars. Tim sings for rancid mostly I think. Operation ivy was lint (mostly guitar), jesse Michaels (the singer), matt Freeman (bass, might have sang backup once in a while) and dave mello (on drums).
@BigMrSox A-FUCKING-MEN
tja. no wonder whats asked for busines.
