My album is a story of triumph, of letting go of all the uncertainty in my head and learning to walk the path of my own heart. “Sincerely” is about realizing how much better this world would be if we all loved ourselves, if we weren’t afraid of being vulnerable and honest. It doesn’t matter who’s president or what technology we invent or what extremists we destroy, the only thing I know is this:
There will never be peace if we do not all love ourselves.

*MY INTERPRETATION*
This is a song about a lover whom he deeply connected with and abruptly decided to end things with him. This song expresses his hurt about it. Even the cover art *_cough cough don't look at boobs cough_* expresses some sort of intimacy between the two.
"Don't tell me that you love me. I won't tell you that I love you." is just him trying to cope with her loss by saying that he doesn't need her but the line "I'm desperately in need" reveals that he needs her. 1:08 is the depiction of how there are still echoes of thoughts of her in his mind. "Once you had seen your own way. Once you thought you knew the right way." shows that it was her that broke up with him. "But the truth is: I'm freakin' out about this whole. Man I'm supposed to be." shows that hos whole life revolved her and isn't able to make the transition into being single. "I'm nervous now 'cause she can't know, I'm desperately in need, 'Cause uphill's hard to reach. Fly down," He's torn between having the decision to make between making things right with her or moving on without her, but eventually decides that he must reconnect and have her at his side no matter what and DAMN THE CONSEQUENCES! "We were staring down the valley when she put her arm around me. She said the reason you've been hurtin's: So you look beat on the surface." He further expresses his pain of losing her by recounting one incident that showed how deeply they connected with each other and how much they loved each other.
Damn, I haven't overanalyzed anything this much since a book review I did in 3rd grade.

One missed, the other hit. She is safe. Gasping. The bullet didn't miss. Blood, lots of it. Falling into his arms. "I'm sorry". Gasping stops. Gone.
A single tear as he recalls her vacant stare.
Police arrive. Surround him. Doesn't make any sudden moves. Cuffed behind his back. Shoved into van. Gavel falls. Cleared of all charges. Happy lawyer. Sad client.
He bears the same sad, empty look in car.
Her family rejected him. Banished. Left alone to grieve.
Everyone has left. He exits car and walks over to fresh grave.
"I'm sorry too."
He rests a single rose against the gravestone, and leaves with the car.

When you listen to the intro on a loud volume you can hear the physicality of the piano it was played on, nice little detail.
