    Your breakdowns on these pedals is very nice, it's not just blues noodling and knob turning. I think the clean and Nugent sounds sold me on the American vs British. I would really like to see you do the same with humbuckers.... but this is a 4 year old vid, so I doubt that will happen.... but it it would be nice. Thanks again!

    I love mine and thank you Nico for this video those settings tips are very helpful. I play it in front of my tube amp after my drives and mods, have all my clean channel settings at neutral, 12 o'clock, and it really does well with all my pedals. I use my amps distortion for a British sound and this pedal for an American sound...works great!

    Please also remember that the mid knob and the character are voiced differently in the Joyo and the Tech21 (which those settings are based on). The Joyo mid knob is centered around 400Hz while on the Blonde the mid frequency is centered around 1000Hz. The character knob is also different (i.e. The Blonde has a fixed mid cut/boost frequency. It goes from cutting 800Hz to boosting 800Hz whilst the Joyo has a variable mid cut/boost frequency. It goes from cutting 400Hz to boosting 800Hz)
    That's why those settings do translate oddly sometimes in the Joyo.

    Your playing is awesome, love it very much. Tech21 Blonde (expensive) Version 1 and Joyo/Harley Benton American (cheap) are identical. Both have an impulse response file built in. Tech21 Version 2 has a switch to disengage the impulse response, so you can add several impulse responses in your DAW.
    I had very good amp simulation results with Tech21 Leeds (=Hiwatt), Tech21 Liverpool (=Vox AC30) and Tech21 British (=Marshall Plexi) directly into my DAW. So the DAW has less CPU work to do ...

    I loved my Joyo AC tone, so I decided to go for an even more affordable pedal from Joyo. I paid £22 for a American sound pedal in pristine condition... even the original battery wrapped in celophane was inside when I got it.
    Plugged it in an old SS Marshall combo and the sound is good, reminiscent of many of the many Fender amp I have played through in my life. However, the difference with the AC tone is not massive. Yes, the AC tone is chimier and the American sound has that typical dip in the mids but both pedals behave very similarly. i have the suspicion that Joyo created a basic platform, only tweaking a few components to get the desired result for their different models. Is this also true for the Tech21 originals? Never had the chance of playing those... TBH, I expected a bigger change. Slightly disappointed although both pedals behave and sound very good... they are great tools.

    • @AthelstanEngland
      @AthelstanEngland Před 4 lety

      @@tanykiat hi there. Yes pretty much. I play into a Bose L1 using a T1 Tonematch mixer. The British probably gives a bit more of a driven sound though - which was part of the problem I had with the TECH 21 Blonde. Couple of things I found with the Joyo American Sound 1. I roll of a little bit of bass on the mixer and add a light bit of compression. On the Joyo I have the Voice and Drive both about 10 o'clock. 2. I have my Boss OD1 overdrive, a clean boost and a delay pedal all after the Joyo - it felt strange doing this but otherwise I found the boost caused the Joyo to go into gain overdrive - exactly what it should do like a real amp but not what I wanted. I prefer to use my Boss OD1 to get that sound. 3. My guitar has P90 pickups so quite a lot of mids. Hope that helps a bit.

      @@tanykiat yeah I know what you mean I was a bit surprised myself. I guess you get more of the tone of the OD1 as almost a distortion pedal rather than it actually driving the Joyo amp pedal into saturation but it works for me. Also means I can go from clean to driven sound without the actual volume changing much. Then for solos (either clean or driven) I just step on the boost pedal which is also a Joyo the Roll Boost.

      My setting is Low 1 o' clock, Mid 12 o' clock High 1 o'clock Voice 10 o'clock And drive 1 o'clock. If you could try to compare it pluged in FX loop to Fender tube amp you own is it enough loud just to play it with band ? It seems very good idea to keep this pedal on pedalboard and dont take our amp to gigs/ jam session and just plug into mix or FX loop in amp you are given.
      If you wana record guitar direct into American sound and Focusrite what would happen if you put reverb or dealey beetween them ? I saw other videos wher guys where adding reverb using computer software but if i wana use my pedals will it work. Thanks for your answers and amazing videos !!!

      No you did not use the pedal direct to the line in. You used it into a fender amp, which of course will color the signal to such a degree that we are unable to distinguish the what the pedal is actually sounding like on it's own.

  • @mariodriessen9740
    @mariodriessen9740 Před 7 lety

    I'm sure most of the settings you demonstrated would have sound better if you wouldn't merely use the neck pu of your stratocaster. These guitars have THREE pu's, you know? And they're there for a reason. Just saying.

    • @NicoBellisarioMusic
      @NicoBellisarioMusic  Před 7 lety +1

      Hey Mario, I usually leave in the video just the pickups that are associated the most with the setting if there is one (e.g when I think Bassman and Strat I think of the neck PU). But i did switch around a bit didn't I? I even used the in between position in the intro and for the clean sound! :) anyway, I'm sure you can find plenty of videos demonstrating just what you are looking for, cheers!
