At the time Vince had no choice but to create the attitude era to compete with WCW, WCW was kicking WWF ass on a weekly show, but Stone Cold help WWF stays afloat. Eventually WCW killed themselves with their booking, and Vince bought them.
Now with no competition to rival the WWE, Vince can do whatever he wants. And I do mean WHATEVER HE WANTS. Pushing guys that isn't ready over the more deserving and what not.
