I loved my original Rodecaster and I'm digging this one so far. This is a minor gripe, but the old Rode app allowed you to see what was on each pad. Unless I'm missing something, the Rode Connect app doesn't show what's on the pads which you're recording a show. I know I can look at the screen on the RCPII itself, but I was really used to glancing at the app on my monitor.
I have unboxed my brand new rodecaster pro 2 to replace the fantastic original, and it’s as unique as all the hype. I am looking forward to using all the new features. It already seems much easier to control multiple sound sources, which was a little more work around the issue on the original.
I truly hope they update it with a full routing table and discrete routing options like the GoXLR. I sold my GoXLR to purchase this because I thought it had the capability, but it turns out that's not the case. Luckily I'm much more of a podcaster than a streamer, but I was hoping to get back into streaming with this as I was annoyed about needing to switch back and forth between the GoXLR and the Mixcast 4 whenever I wanted to go from streaming to podcasting
I feel ya! Was hoping I could sell my GOXLR mini and MG12XU for an all in one fix, but the abscense of the routing table is a deal breaker. Will definitely pick one up though as soon as they come out with a firmware update.
Hey did you check the round-trip latency for potential music production use by any chance?
It would be nice if the Rcp2 had 4 virtual sound cards. This way you could send multiple players from your playout software to different faders on the rcp2. Just like D&R does on the Airlite USB.
Yeah. D&R gotta be pissed off their cheapest mixer (the webstation - 900€) can’t even do a forth of what the RCP II can.
Hi…. Can the smart pads be programmed to harmonize your voice, and make your voice sound as though you have chorus or choirs, as in a voice harmonizing pedal?

I think mk2 is a better product feature wise but maybe the build is not quite as good, on my one the top right corner lifts up when it gets warm but stays put once off and pressed down again only to happen once back on. I have got a return option via Amazon but will give it a bit longer.
I would like to thank you for this interesting channel really...The problem that i am facing is that i have Mac os high sierra and i can't upgrade it because i am using Pro tools 11 which wont work if i updated my OSX and Rode central doesn't work if the operating system is less than Mojave so what shall i do to assign the pads? I have "Zoom Podtrak p4"and it was so easy to assign it by copying the files on the memory card and then to assign it from inside and thats it..so i hope that you can help me with this problem, Thank you

How is the responsiveness of the smart pads ? Can they be just lightly touched to activate them, or one needs to apply some pressure to activate them ?
They are hit and miss. Too light and they don’t fire - too hard and they can fire twice. But practice helps to know the best weight to use
It might be time to upgrade my Rodecaster pro!!!
What do you think about this vs Go XLR? Even though this is a little bit more expensive, do you think it is better?

Can I plug a keyboard directly into the RODECASTER PRO?
Yes indeed you can as the 4 mic inputs are high quality nutrik connectors.
Haven’t seen a single review that tested other type of sound other than MIC… not one review… and people are still wondering why these reviews are getting boring… none of us is here to be told how many channels this device has… if we’re on CZcams… we probably can see (and count) 👍🏻
Fully agree! Ok, this unit is more or less made for streamers/podcasters, but - as Rode mentioned in their Q&A Livestreams - it's also intended to be used for music production, especially as the Pro II supports LineIn and Hi-Z. For me a review or a test about the musical capabilities would be great (e.g. guitar, voice, maybe a drum loop on an other input), because i see a lot of potential - if those things work - for singer/songwriter, to catch musical ideas, even small productions......such a video would be great, especially as i see a big market for an interface in this size and specs!

This thing sucks for streaming games. Not enough routing options. The very first loading screen stutters every time I turn it on. This is small but I’m not dealing with a stuttering screen after paying $800. Sometimes the pc doesn’t even read the device until I reboot the rcp2 while the pc is still on. There is a green X over my main output icon preventing any sound to play through my Yamaha hs7s. If anyone is looking for a good interface for streaming games AND a DAW with live active plugins AND zero latency…check out the PreSonus Revelator io24. Only 199 and it’s awesome 🤷🏽♂️. Definitely hooking mine back up and sending this rcp2 back.
The green X is there because you did not switch off the option. Every time you push the mic fader up the monitor out will automatically mute to prevent feedback but you will still hear the output from the headphones. You can switch that off in the output options.

It is a flop. After less than a month Channel one took a crap 😂
Crap unit! Getting an Xlr 😂save your money!
