12:50 When I had Val on my pc, riot vanguard got dinged as a virus by one of the other games I play and I literally couldn’t get pass that game’s anti cheat without deleting Val and riot vanguard first… this might be the end of my time on league
Wouldn't that mean that other game is also doing something at a kernel level for it to interact with Vanguard?
The main problem with Vanguard isn't only Riot collecting personal data, is the fact the same company that programmed the beatiful and astonishing optimized League client we have also programmed this anticheat that'll be running at kernel level. We're supposed to believe the people that's been uncapable of fix or make a decent client made an aplication with near none vulnerabilities(as supposed it must be due to the level of acces).
Its also the fact that Riot MUST GIVE ANY DATA REQUESTED TO THE CCP. People forget Riot Games is a CCP company. You're effectively putting Chinese spyware on your PC.

That's not even to address the main concern which is that there is absolutely 0 need for Kernel level anti-cheat and you should generally avoid giving anything that level of access, anyone with any experience in info-sec will tell you the same.

Won't Vanguard in League kill the Linux compatibility entirely?
Yes
Yes, but that's only the beginning of the problems.
Yes but no one cares. To be honest, even if it didn´t kill the Linux community, and Riot supported Lol+Vanguard on Linux officially, no Linux user would ever touch Vanguard with a stick long 3 meters.
@@alfonsomurolo1811Are you sure? Even those who just want to play their games on Linux because the OS isn't from Microsoft? 🧐
Yep
Vanguard being required marks the end of my 11 year LoL experience. I cannot with good concience have that on my PC unless I buy a second PC just for gaming.
It's not the potato PC that's issue, it's the kernel level access from a chinese owned gaming company @@test12593
@@test12593 my dude, vanguard only made it harder perhaps but not impossible to cheat.
@@test12593 Not gonna lie, you're the one sounding short bus if you think Vanguard is going to be good for the game.
It operates on the kernel level, which means if it gets bypassed whoever it is gets full access to your entire computer.
On top of that, it perma-runs, it doesn't just stay active during gaming, it stays active at all times. It's constantly draining resources even while not being used for why you have it in the first place, to play League.
It's a major security risk and it hampers your computer's performance. On top of that, it forcibly stops programs it does not agree with without even asking permission. It just doesn't it because that's how it's set up.

Bye Bye lol and Riot. Our addiction finally ends. Thanks vanguard.
Bringing Vanguard to League is making me consider to stop playing LoL all together. I rather not have my PC breakdown instead.
So let me get this straight, they want me to put a Kernel level anti-cheat software from a company that has Tencent involved?
If they do add Vanguard to League, this might be the last season for me. I will not have that on my computer.
@@test12593 Valorant has more cheaters than LoL buddy. How gullible can you be? Not everyone that is against Chinese malware is a cheater, we are just more intelligent.
The thing is, in League, skill beats any cheat. Its very difficult to use cheats efficiently, and something like aimbot can only be used on a few champions, like Xerath. Not even the cheats that show the positions of enemies in fog are that good.
I honestly dont think any cheat in higher elo is enough to turn the tide of a game, I really dont.
And most cheaters lose their accounts pretty fast(not to mention that in my 10 seasons of playing, I've only ever confirmed 1 cheater)

@@test12593 Do you even realize what Vanguard does? It's on a kernel level, which means if it gets bypassed whoever it is gets 100% access to your PC.
The program is always active as well, not just when you play League or Valorant. Which means it forcibly slows down your computer because it's constantly dragging resources its way. It also forcibly shuts down other programs it doesn't agree with without even asking permission.

All of it looks great. To be honest as much as I love new champs I would prefer having all of the the old outdated champions getting visual updates & overhauls throughout the entire year. The roster is so vast & large at this point it can use a break & let old champs catchup in visuals & skill sets to fit into the meta.
Thats just your opinion though... The best thing to do is both. More champions, more reworks 1 or 2 reworks per year is really not much at all...

My hope is tha shyvana rework is like kayn. Their are people who like the ap nuke and people who like the juggernaut jumping into the brawl.

So I hope that her rework entails different forms based on whether you go ad or ap. If you go ad, you get the juggernaut of jumping into things and her abillities change to being focused on melee.

Vanguard is what stopped me from being able to play valorant when I wasn’t cheating or anything it was bugged I hope this problem doesn’t come to league man…
With the release of Vanguard for League of Legends, does that mean League of Legends will no longer be supported on macOS, which does not support software to run on a Kernel-Level?
You can write kernel extensions on Mac OS, but Apple heavily discourages it and seemingly makes it harder with every update

Just casually dropping a kernel level program on our mschines lol. Its been a nice run but i m not letting riot install a potential "Maoware" on my machine as if my PC is dedicated to just playing league.
Still concerned about the compatibility and stability of Vanguard if it ever gets implemented. The reason why I stopped playing Valorant is because of the Vanguard Anti-cheat due to hardware issues for some reason. Not talking about cheats, but the typical hardware firmwares like Mouse drivers, RGB/Fan settings, etc. and issues related to BSoDs.
Maybe it's just me, but my previous PC had POST issues after installing Vanguard and even after removing it. I was hoping that it's only an Isolated case but I've seen some varying hardware related issues related to Vanguard. I love the game, but as a consumer, I'm still skeptical about this implementation. I just hope that Vanguard won't cause any significant hardware-related issues.
i play league on linux, if they add vanguard i will just stop playing, really hopped they wouldnt do something like that
from reading your comment and some comments on the r/leagueoflegends subreddit, i've seen that the problems arent just for linux users, windows users have problems with vanguard even if they are ok with a kernel level software being installed.
Vanguard is not that bad it’s probably one of the best anti cheat softwares tbh
That's not the point. I really like how well Vanguard works, I haven't had any hardware or software issues linked to it, and I do trust Riot not to touch any data that isn't strictly necessary for maintaining integrity during matches, but if some individuals are getting hit with hard or software issues due to Vanguard itself being wonky in some way, or any instability it brings indirectly, then that's an issue that needs solving.@@jpuc5568
@@jpuc5568 > Vanguard is not that bad
Honestly, it is. I know at least 3 people who had big issues with Vanguard (game crashes or even bsods) and I don't even have that many friends playing it.
On top of that I myself had to reinstall windows because it broke something with my official Logitech drivers, but I also am a developer and worked for cybersecurity, so I'm not the "standard user" and the best example.
I could turn a blind eye to that (I have other headphones) and turn it on only for games (I don't mind one reboot) but the amount of work to enable and disable it is just too annoying and I have better games to play.
When it first came out, it was literally a virus. Caused valo to crash every other game, slowed everything down, etc. It's gotten better since then, but yeah, there are still problems with it, and it's not 100% effective
This dev video looks like it has a much higher production value than last year's season cinematic. I'm surprisingly hyped and almost everything in this video is great. The only thing i didn't like was the new dragon champ's design, like c'mon, what's with the face? And so much potential to represent the already diverse and unique dragon designs in runeterra. And also, MORE project? Oh dear..
last year's season cinematic is an extremely low bar and we shouldn't set our expectations on that
also yes change Smolders face
Honestly, like please just makes it fully reptile. Why does it have to have a weird squirrelly face.
i think Vanguard addition should not be mandatory , can't you make it like :
- if you are okay with it , you can download it.
- if you're not okay with it, never been reported for cheating, you can avoid download it.
- if you didn't dowload it and get reported for cheating 3 times , you have to download it.

Anyone rage reporting for cheating counts then? That's stupid

Vanguard in league is UNACCEPTABLE. Pretty much the number 1 reason i never touched Valorant is vanguard. I don't wanna to have it running 24/7 nor have to reboot my PC everytime I boot up league. This is RIDICULOUS. Not to mention league is a game where the cheat count is already low, and odds you can actually beat a cheater when you come across one isn't as low as in shooter games. What a stupid decision
This is the biggest cope I’ve ever seen. If it’s that big of a deal to you - peace. Don’t come back. This is absolutely required.
@@wowitsfrostygames155 this shouldn't be required at all, in league you encounter a cheater once in about 500 games. There are players that won't play half that number of matches in a YEAR. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason to push such invasive "anti cheat" in a game where cheater encounters are so far between. Specially since cheating in league doesn't grantee you a win like in other games such as shooters for example. Kernel level anti cheat shouldn't be a thing we accept lightly. VANGUARD should run like any other anti cheat, it works when you playing the game and it closes when you quit the game. What is vanguard doing when running 24/7 anyway that is pertinent to the game? Having to reboot your system to boot up an anticheat everytime you need to open a game is as ridiculous as leaving a kernel level program running 24/7 with no clue on what it is doing in your system.

I'm against Vanguard in League or hope at least they change it as it is. League is played by many people on literal Toasters and it's great that it works well on them. But Vanguard draws the performance of low specs PCs extremely down.
When I tried to play Valorant on my old PC, Vanguard made my PC soo slow and kept using recources even if closed, that I couldn't do anything anymore on this PC until I deinstalled Vanguard.
For me it doesn't matter anymore but I play League with many others who can't afford something better than they have right now and they won't be able to play League anymore with Vanguard, unless they change something about it. Cheats and Bots aside, that's my biggest concern :/

@@TheTimebreakerKernel level access isn‘t even the main issue here, most anti cheats have that. Vanguard runs 24/7 if you have it installed. Even if you don‘t play any Riot game at the moment. Saddened to hear about Vanguard. I understand the why, but nonetheless I am not a fan of kernel anticheat philosophically. Also depressed to see the end of leagueoflinux :(
It's crazy how kernel is literally a program that usually controls your entire system and they want to have an anti-cheat able to run at that level. On top, I've played some Valorant on my old machine years ago and I was in average finding more cheaters there than in league of legends, also, if instead of using a spyware/malware they just had people double checking games (they for sure have the money to do so) and banning cheaters, that would be much better and easier, or just something that checks replays/gameplays and detects cheaters. If cheaters want, they will always cheat and having such a program as an excuse at the kernel level is outrageous. And not enough people realize that.

@yahwon1024. But I have been playing LOL on a relatively modern laptob on Lutris for 3 years, so I am being cut out, whilst not having scripts installed. That feels kinda dumb. There are a lot of modes but the server in Singapore, PH, around SEA only has a small player base. You should be able to create a server for SEA just like in valorant to improve the playerbase count and queue time. It would also make our region more competitive.
Edit: Reiterating that MORE game modes are going to be added, thus, more players will spread out which can impact queue time negatively. Additional game modes are actually fun, we're all for it, but if the queue time for each is going to take more than 4 minutes, it will just be a bad experience.
