*****
God forbid they distribute it on the internet, like, oh, idk, Radiohead did a few years back selling just short of 4 million digital downloads at about 8 bucks a pop. You do the math.
ask chance the rapper that very question
true
Dj Clue made a million dollars selling mixtapes out of his trunk before he had a record deal.
Imagine being in a record store and seeing Jazzy Jeff, J Dilla, and Kenny Dope at the same time! I've would've passed out!!!!!!
Imagine being Jeff's original emcee and sitting at home watching Will Smith on TV. I'll bet any money that guy probably missed that house party running after some chick.
I am realising that there is a nerd streak in many of the DJ's and I mean that cheerfully. Their collection of vinyl makes them a bibliophile of sorts.
true,true...theres definitely a bit of a pattern goin on
You didn't know that Jeff had a full scholarship to MIT
100%
GMF reminds me of Rodney Mullen (skater) who invented the Ollie
"Sometimes you spend $35-40 dollars for a record that you're kinda like "ahhhh it didn't really have anything on it" and sometimes you spend a dollar for the best record you've ever had in your life."
TRUTH
Man I did that too. Saving lunch money to buy 12" Singles from the Record Arcade. I thought about getting rid of my vinyl after I digitized it but couldn't do it. That's loving the music right there.
He went to Jerry's Records in Pittsburgh. I went once and it was memorable. 2 of us bought so many records, we ran out of cash at closing time. He took a down payment, we left town and sent a money order the next day and they shipped every record. One of the best record stores I have ever been to.
extremely talented and legendary dj. i love his personality as well
I can listen to Jeff all day! just talk about music! especially with him and Will
I absolutely love this brother!!! He has a humbles yet genius demeanor. He has mastered the art of turntable music and his natural ability has made him a hip hop legend!
Ohhhhh wow I dint know his older bother played for the Intruders. That explains a lot... Love DJ Jazzy Jeff's work ....
Jazz was one of the first DJ's to influence this suburban whiteboy into a Hip Hop maniac :] I remember seeing Jazz at Funk O Mart and Armand's a couple of time in the early 90's and I was too shy to say anything. Got your "Touch of Jazz" 12" to this day. I still play it!
The Greatest Dj Of All Time!!!!!!!!!!!
Starving himself for vinyl purchases - RESPECT!
Y'all need to do an episode with Kenny Dope
Beautiful vibrations here for all people....thank you so much for the positive...
I love how he's featuring the Billy Joel record on the front of the shelf.
franky furbo that’s a good record to have on vinyl
Greatest DJ of all time The Magnificent Jazzy Jeff!
this is the first of the Crate Diggers series I've watched and really enjoyed it, he has a passion which has clearly never waned
Awesome! That he is well spoken, knowledgeable, and seemingly down to earth is obvious. Meeting him is now on the bucket list.
Love Jeff's ending statement. Don't fight it. I did that yrs ago, and unfortunately it had to take family drama to realize that.
Henry Featherstone he didn’t fight Uncle Phil lol
I could listen to his stories all day. Good guy.
Love my vinyl..still digging...
What an absolutely top bloke Jeff is !!
Understand this: In Philly in the early 80's, DJ Jazzy Jeff was GOD. People would talk about his parties, describe his sets & turntablism, in tones of a legend. Him & DJ Ca$h Money were the titans of all DJ's like Zeus and Posiden, doing thing thought impossible (which is why they won the DMC World DJ battles back-to-back).
Yet he the coolest, humblest man you could ever meet. Warm cat who's very patient with people. Just happens to be The Magnificent.
Listening to this I just learned something new.
awesomeness. love the record store shopping trip story with kenny and j.dilla
Wow, a real nice video about a real cool musician and dj. Thanks for making it possible to watch this :-) Jazzy jeff... Among the first influences in hiphop when i was really young. And isn´t it amazing how cool and laid back he seems to be? Thanks for that vid. Love it!
FREAKING EPIC...LOVE THAT DUDE. he is freaking amazing.
These DJ's have so much music history in their collections.
Never forget seeing him live in a small club in Banff Canada what a dj
Shiiiiiiiit I'm dj cranium and I'm a crate digger. Nothing can replace vinyl it means to much a mp3 can be deleted and re downloaded . Vinyl has so many things going for it and was the best era of djing before mp3s and cds came out .
It makes me happy to see him love his craft.
Wow. What an awesome interview. I always liked Jeff. He seems like a great guy ^_^
This is one of the best HIP HOP videos I have seen on youtube Jeff I remember when he use to do block partys back in the 215. And say what you wnat about the man but he embodies what every dj wants in this game LONGEVITY so respect the dj and this culture we call HIP HOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm from Pittsburgh that sounds like Jerry's Records in Squirrel Hill. Jerry does that a lot he'll look at your pile and say give me $100 or whatever. That's my man Jerry he has the biggest vinyl collection next to my boy Fred owner of The Attic Records Store in Millvale. Great guys and crew.
i love this...
super dope!!
This is just so ill. Love it.
Classic Philly! If ya don't know now ya now! One of the best ever to do it!
This is the longest I've ever seen him talk without Uncle Phil throwing him out the front door.
my parents use to get so upset with my records and equipment taking over the front den lol!! And yell when the music was too loud lol!!! Ahhh, when I was a 16yr old in '93 NYC

Great to see him still looking good! Glad he is not ruining his life with drugs and such. At least it "looks" like he is taking care of himself. Love Jazzy J.
