I think the only concerns worth having after 2 weeks are bad tacos hitting a team hard.
They have been very lucky so far. one of healthiest teams in baseball.

One thing didn't get said here is that Merrifield's mutual option for 24 is costing $18m and surely he'll walk at the end of the year. I'd not be so keen to hold onto him if there's any trade interest.

That's a great point, I came to see if anyone mentioned that. Can't see them signing him at that much money.
Merrifield is too old & expensive to be flipped twice. Unlikely option picked up. Gone in offseason. Espinal brings cheap defence & lefty platoon trade value at multiple IF. Biggio is still young enough to keep around or trade but you don’t want him as the everyday 2nd baseman.
TL;DR Need a new 2nd baseman next season. Which should be Bichette.
The 2023 Jays need a spot for Barger and hopefully Orelvis too (perhaps Lopez as well) so if Whit does walk that is not a problem (not like when Semien left and the 2B cupboard was bare)
@@LockedOnBlueJaysTrue. Not sure if they’re planning to keep Vlad, Bichette & Chapman all expensive, long term? Do they call up both Barger & Orlevis for one open spot, now? Does one move to 3B to replace Chapman, the oldest of the bunch, in the future? Personally, I’d keep Vlad & Bichette (@2B) if possible, which shouldn’t be an insult considering he immediately becomes top of that list 🤔 but not mid season.
Pretty sure they are grooming Barger to play 3rd after Chappy's departure. I don't think you'll see him up this yr at all. A full yr at AAA to start at 3rd base next yr.

As nice as the theoretical conversation about corbin burnes is, reality is brewers are 11-5 and not likely to be dealing.
A more realistic scenario is would you trade Ricky t for Kyle freeland and kris Bryant.... easy to say no way but to win this division this year we might need to do something bold.
The chances of Bo going to 2B are the same as Jeter going to 3B when the Damnyankees got Arod.

Oh my goodness...Jeter was the Captain and a key cog in numerous World Series' and the metrics that show his Defensive deficiencies did not even exist yet...This example is as far off as any I've ever seen
