    Thank you so much for sharing this information! It has been so helpful. I’m in Rhode Island and we have a lot of rules which are intimidating but I really love sharing bread with others and am determined to figure this out.

      @@rebekahkenyon1302 I thought the process was going to be really overwhelming but when I just put it into a checklist, it made it super easy and I just did like one thing a week and I wasn’t trying to get everything done right away and that made it way easier

    Greetings and blessings How much flour do you add to the sourdough to make bread? The bread I make is heavy and does not come out golden like yours. I use the cup measurements and not grams. Recipe:
    1/2 Cup bubbly active sourdough starter
    1 2/3 Cup warm (not hot) filter water
    4 Cups Unbleached Bread Flour
    2 Tsp salt But my bread is heavy. What can you suggest I make? I am very grateful for your help. I am La Tina from Colombia and I want to learn well to do my business. I always follow you. I thank you for all your teachings. May God bless you. I remain attentive đŸ˜‰â€ïž

      @@alexdominguez6117 thank you you are too kind. I would suggest reducing your flower by a cup. I put 3 cups of flour in one loaf of bread. I also only use a cup and a half of water

    Because the sourdough is so acidic, I feed it all the time, but it is very acidic. What do you suggest I do? Thanks.

    Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us! I aspire to follow your footsteps one day when I feel more confident in my bread-making skills.
    How do you decide if there is a need in the community? I live in a very small community, and I know of 2 other ladies nearby who are selling their sourdough. I can’t commit a ton of time right now to competing with them, and I don’t want to try to steal their customers. How do you differentiate yourself from the other bakers in your area?

      @@girl-mama5 The only real way to find out is to ask your community. What I would do is start posting pictures of your bread where your community engages the most (mine is on Facebook for local sales) and see what people say. If you notice people are liking your bread post then I would make a post saying.. I’m thinking about selling my bread let me know if you would be interested in purchasing it. You can always offer a limited amount and have it be first come first serve. To stand out among the others I would either focus on higher quality ingredients or offering more options in flavors. I hope this helps. Good luck!!!

    Thank you! I've been seriously considering a sourdough biz, but struggling with the time commitment, etc since I work full time as a nurse and my three kids are fully involved in sports that take us away a lot. It just doesn't seem possible sometimes. Any specific time management advice?

      @@tiffmccormack3277 it is a big time commitment but the good thing is you can do it just on weekend a or when you can make it work. If you want to just do markets or festivals that’s awesome!

    I’ve been selling at the Farmers market. I’ve been asked if I would sell wholesale to a store that focuses on selling farmers produce. I’m excited but dont understand how I will be making money if I’m selling the bread at cost. Advice please.

    • @madarafarms
      @madarafarms  Pƙed 19 dny

      @@estherluna4680 that’s exciting! Don’t sell your bread at cost or you’ll loose money. You have to sell it at least double your cost or triple. For example let’s say it costs you $3 a loaf you have to sell it to the store at $6 or even $7 and they have to commit to minimum amounts to make it worth it.
